Well, we're here to let everyone know that the band is really looking forward to this week albeit tinged with a dose of sadness (more on that later!).
First up on Friday evening will be Bang Shang a Lang's first foray to the magnificent Mounties Club in Sydney's Mount Pritchard - this place is seriously luxurious and was voted club of the year in fact. We feel certain that the boys' success at Penrith RSL will rub off on this place and it will be a successful evening with many return bookings.
.
Secondly, on Saturday night, the band returns to their hugely successful residency at Balmain's historic Unity Hall Hotel - the element of sadness mentioned earlier will be because this show will be the last with Mark Alchin (aka 'Alch') on bass! After 8 years of fun Alch has decided to move on so this last hurrah with BSL will be something special indeed....why not come along and help the boys say goodbye - sadness notwithstanding this will still be a raucously entertaining evening with the splendiferous talents of Turn Me On, Dead Man in support
Catch you there!!
cheers

Oh what a night it was! The Unity Hall Hotel in Balmain was packed much earlier than usual....part of the reason, we assume, was that people had come to help celebrate esteemed skin-basher Mr Bruce Carter celebrate his "significant" birthday!
A fantastic crowd response greeted the opening, solo version of The Beatles' In My Life by Mark Mulligan which he sang and played with great emotion.....
Then the band hit the stage, including bassist Alchie who hadn't played with the band since December last year!
From the very first tune (The Equals' Baby Come Back) the crowd lapped up the band's eclectic mix of brilliant covers and Mark Mulligan's superb original tunes including the insanely catchy, and now forever etched in video history, Me Too! [See it here now]
The band finished with a one-two blast of AC/DC's Highway to Hell (which had the punters fist-pumping wildly) quickly followed with a rousing encore of The Romantics' What I Like About You!
Another brilliant night in Balmain brought to you by Bang Shang a Lang!
cheers until next time

Bang Shang a Lang has a brand new and completely brilliant video clip of Mark Mulligan's song Me Too!
Filmed and edited superbly by Nicky Elliott of Monkey Pants Media with amazing animated sequences created by Gary David Bouton (www.theboutons.com) we think you'll agree this takes the band's video collection to all-new heights!
Enjoy

Well, we got another review from one of the BSL HQ munchkins so we thought, rather than start an argument, we'd post this one as well!
.
Bang Shang a Lang's Australian tour began in earnest by headlining the Anzac Day extravaganza at Penrith's famous Returned Servicemens Leagues Club, where fan club secretary Adam Dawn-Startsupping rallied the supporters and led the community sing-a-long fest for a full 3 hours. Did the boys rock the joint or what!! 2000 people packed the Castle Lounge to hear the Bangers' greatest hits, the highlights including a rousing version of Maggie May with mandolin lead Murray Cook in absolutely stonking form....there were 2000 mandolin wannabees in Penrith last Friday night! A unique version of the Rolling Stones classic Jumpin' Jack Flash had them jumping and rolling for the rest of the night. The boys play the Chocolate Soldier Rissole again on Friday June 6th.

2 shows in 2 nights is not too much for the ageing rockers, and once again the Unity Hall Hotel in trendy Balmain played host to their regular crowd pleasers, supported by Turn Me On, Dead Man and special guests whose set included Up the Junction, Maybe I'm Amazed and Oh Yoko, as well as The Cathedral of Lost Kisses from the Cellar Music back catalogue.

Rock stars that Bang Shang a Lang are, the fans were kept waiting Guns 'n' Roses fashion until the unearthly hour of 10pm before the stage erupted amidst smoke and Pyrotechnics to Noah Kaminski's rockin' and a shakin' Crunchy Granola Suite which had the dance floor packed from beginning to end. The fans also noticed the sublime Belfast Child intro to Kiri Te Carterer's Rockaria and went potty. Those lucky to have a ticket to the already sell out show on Saturday 7th June must be chomping at the bit in anticipation of another night of very serious party rock. See you then!!

BSL trekked off to their new favourite RSL at Penrith for ANZAC Day/Night (no relation to Kath or Kim) last Friday. Upon arrival, they could feel that this was going to be a special evening. The patrons were well into the spirit of the
day, and some rock'n'roll was on order to take over from the Redgum songs.
The boys went over the top from song one, giving the considerable crowd something to hitch themselves to for the rest of the night. A real crowd pleaser was the
AC/DC classic 'Highway to Hell', although 'Dancing Queen' was met with equal appreciation. After a false start in the wrong key (no names mentioned here, but only one person starts the thing!), the Rolling Stones classic 'Jumpin'
Jack Flash' made a welcome return and had the Penrith crowd jumpin' with delight.

The following night at the Unity Hall was a similarly exuberant affair. Turn Me On, Dead Man opened the show with some wonderful tunes, capped off by a solo-Beatles double in Macca's 'Maybe I'm Amazed' and JL's 'Oh, Yoko!'. Rich and Muzz from BSL even helped them out ..s and mandolin!

When the stars of the show came on, it was clear they meant business. The Neil Diamond double at the start of the first set was enough to get the UHH faithful up and grooving. Their very own 'Bluer Than Your Smile' made a welcome return after a hiatus, and Richie got a lot of pleasure in belting out 'Just Can't Get Enough/Lust For
Life' for the first time in a while. By the end of the night, there were tangled bodies everywhere on the dance floor... and a few onstage as well.
The weekend's mini-tour was over, but the memory lingered on, like the smoke from a malfunctioning fog machine.

Muzz made a special return trip from the USA to be with the lads for both shows, in true ANZAC tradition, lashing out with his mandolin on 'Maggie May' and his John Fogerty-owned Les Paul on 'What I Like About You'. And, with Alchie taking a year off to complete his university commitments, replacement bassist Elwyn 'The Professor' Sattler was in fine form, locking down with Brucie all the way through both gigs.

The boys can't wait for the next Penrith/Balmain double, coming up on June 6th/7th. Long live rock'n'roll - lest we forget!

Well, talk about anticipation syndrome!
the guys had not played this fantastic pub since their Christmas show in 2007! Plenty of locals and sundry blow-ins were there nice and early and so were able to catch the superlative charms of the almost-supernaturally talented support duo, Turn Me On, Dead Man! Their version of the Who’s Behind Blue Eyes went down particularly well! [But come on, who *is* that lead singer?!
On to the main act and the band hit the stage like an Apollo rocket launch with a blistering rendition of Mr. Diamond’s classic Crunchy Granola Suite - the crowd were dancing and singing along from the very first note folks! A sight to behold indeed...
As the night wore on more and more people crowded in until the place was literally bursting at the seams - a fierce and fiery version of Dylan’s Like A Rolling Stone really had the punters raucously singing and fist pumping along in time
Overall a totally brilliant night and the boys can hardly wait to return on April 26th for the 2nd night of their big Anzac Day weekend mini-tour of Sydney
So, until then dear fans and friends we bid you adieu
cheers
