smiley-helmet.gif (1153 bytes) Buttprints in the Sand

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared,
And I asked the Lord, "What have we here?"
Those prints are large and round and neat,
"But Lord, they are too big for feet."

"My child," He said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you along.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait."

"You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt."

"Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand."

Native American Words

When all the trees have been cut down,
when all the animals have been hunted,
when all the waters are polluted,
when all the air is unsafe to breathe,
only then will you discover
you cannot eat money.

~
Cree Prophecy ~

I do not think the measure of a civilization
is how tall its buildings of concrete are,
but rather how well its people have learned
to relate to their environment and fellow man.

~
Sun Bear of the Chippewa Tribe

What is life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night.
It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime.
It is the little shadow which runs across
the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

~
Crowfoot, Blackfoot Warrior  ~

When you were born, you cried
and the world rejoiced.
Live your life
so that when you die,
the world cries and you rejoice.

White Elk ~

O' GREAT SPIRIT:
Help me always to speak the truth quietly,
to listen with an open mind when others speak,
and to remember the peace

that may be found in silence.

~
Cherokee Prayer ~

May the stars carry your sadness away,
May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,
May hope forever wipe away your tears,
And, above all, may silence make you strong.

"E-Mail" Angels

Once upon some time ago ...
An e-mail came my way.
As most computer users know,
That's just a normal day.

I clicked and read the message sent,
And should have known right there
What earthly angels really meant
I learned ... they're everywhere !

Our Heavenly Father, up above,
Is up to date you see
That unconditional flowing love
Has got His own "P.C."!

God's internet is fully staffed,
By angels all on-line
I sat back in my chair and laughed,
I understood ...cloud nine!

That e-mail sent to me that day,
Was just  a simple note.
But like the sun  emits its' ray,
I knew ... that Heaven wrote!

I understand this sounds absurd
Like I need therapy!
But angels' help us hear Gods' word
By whatever means may be.

~ Jody Harmon ~

A footnote from Jody:
This poem was written for, and dedicated lovingly to...
My real life on earth internet angel ... Pam DeChane.

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings,
thank you Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.

Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible, thank you Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising,
thank you Lord, that I have the strength to rise.
There are many who are bedridden.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost,
toast is burned,  tempers are short, &
my children are so loud, thank you Lord, for my family.
There are many who are lonely.

Even though our breakfast table never looks like
the pictures in magazines, and the menu is at times unbalanced,
thank you Lord, for the food we have.
There are many who are hungry.

Even though the routine of my job is often monotonous,
thank you Lord, for the opportunity to work.
There are many who have no job.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day, and wish my circumstances were not so modest,
thank you Lord, for the life you have given me.

Thank you Lord, for dying upon the cross, for me, so that I would have eternal life.

Dear God,
When I am lonely and,
Perhaps I feel despair.
Let not my ailing heart forget,
That YOU hear every prayer..

Remind me that no matter what,
I do or fail to do,
There still is hope for as long
As I have FAITH in YOU..

Let not my eyes be blinded by
Some folly I commit.
But help me to regret my wrong,
And to make up for it..

Inspire me to put my fears,
Upon a hidden shelf,
And in the future never to
Be sorry for myself.

Give me the restful sleep I need,
Before another dawn,
And bless me in the morning with
The Courage To Go On...

When I created the heavens and the earth, I spoke them into being. When I created man, I formed him and breathed life into his nostrils. But you woman, I fashioned after I breathed the breath of life into man because your nostrils are too delicate. I allowed a deep sleep to come over him so I could patiently and perfectly fashion you.

Man was put to sleep so that he could not interfere with the creativity. From one bone I fashioned you. I chose the bone that protects his heart and his lungs and supports him, as you are meant to do. Around this one bone I shaped you. I modeled you. I created you perfectly and beautifully.

Your characteristics are as the rib, strong yet delicate and fragile. You provide protection for the most delicate organ in man, his heart. His heart is the center of his being; his lungs hold the breath of life. The rib cage will allow itself to be broken before it will allow damage to the heart.

Support the man as the rib cage supports the body. You were not taken from his feet, to be under him, nor were you taken from his head, to be above him. You were taken from his side, to stand beside him and be held close to his side.

You are My perfect angel. You are My beautiful little girl. You have grown to be a splendid woman of excellence, and My eyes fill when I see the virtues in your heart. Your eyes - don't change them. Your lips - how lovely when they part in prayer. Your nose, so perfect in form, your hands so gentle in touch. I've caressed your face in your deepest sleep; I've held your heart close to mine.

Of all that lives and breathes, you are the most like Me. Adam walked with Me in the cool of the day and yet he was lonely. He could not see Me or touch Me. He could only feel Me.

So everything I wanted Adam to share and experience with Me,
I fashioned in you: My holiness, My strength, My purity, My love, My protection and support. You are special because you are the extension of Me.

Man represents My image, woman My emotions. Together you represent the totality of God. So man - treat woman well. Love her, respect her, for she is fragile. In hurting her, you hurt Me. What you do to her, you do to Me. In crushing her, you only damage your own heart, the heart of your Father, and the heart of her Father.

Woman, support man. In humility, show him the power of emotion I have given you. In gentle quietness show your strength. In love, show him that you are the rib that protects his inner self.

Youth is not a time of life - it is a state of mind, it is a temper
of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a
predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for
adventure over love of ease.

Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years; people
grow old only by deserting their ideals. Years wrinkle the skin, but
to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, doubt, self-distrust,
fear and despair - these are the long, long years that bow
the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.

Whether seventy or seventeen, there is in every being's heart the
love of wonder, the sweet amazement at the stars and starlike
things and thoughts, the undaunted challenge of events, the
unfailing childlike appetite for what next,
and the joy and the game of life.

You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young
as your self-confidence, as old as your fear, as young as your hope,
as old as your despair.

So long as your heart receives messages of beauty, cheer,
courage, grandeur and power from the earth, from man and from
the Infinite, so long you are young.

When the wires are all down and all the innermost core of your
heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of
cynicism, then you are grown old indeed and may
God have mercy on your soul.
