This is what I saw on the MySpace homepage 2 minutes ago:

The Cure – Album Exclusive

The Cure return after an 8 year break from the studio with their new self titled album. Hear the whole thing only on MySpace.

Excuse me, but The Cure are back after 4 years, not 8 years, and it was their 2004 album that was "self titled", not this one, which is called "4:13 Dream".

Dear MySpace people, please check your references before you press "publish" next time.

Thanks.

(More or less copied&pasted from my other blog 'cos I'm lazy)

After years of patient waiting (four since that short MTV performance and eight since a real 3-hour-long concert), last night I finally saw The Cure live. And it was... it was... Damn, I have no words. 46 fucking euros and worth every cent. I'll post just a few random thoughts because that's all I can write right now.

- Simon is still damn hot

- Porl turned into Billy Corgan (shaved head with crazy paintings on it + weird black skirt)

- Simon looking surprised and smiling shily when the crowd calls out his name is the most adorable thing on the planet

- "The Kiss" is the most amazing song to hear performed live

- Simon is still damn hot

- Jason is a great drummer, no matter what the Boris's hardcore fans say

- I love it when Simon crouches down and waits for his part to start

- Robert is still damn charismatic

- Did I mention Simon is still damn hot?

Yes, I have a soft spot for Simon and his ever changing hair colour (yesterday it was back to black, after being blond first and then bright red in the last few concerts), he's the reason I started playing bass to begin with. And of course the first song I've ever played was "A forest". But his new tattoos are awful. And talking about bass, maybe it was because there were no keyboards (a Cure gig with NO KEYBOARDS???) but the bass sounded SO FUCKING LOUD, I LOVED IT. After such a concert I just want to play till my fingers bleed but I can't, because our drummer has my bass. Argharghargh.

But oh, it was wonderful. I didn't meet up with our keyboard player, but I met another friend who's a huge Cure fan, a girl who lives in London and whom I met at the Curedrink a couple of years ago, who saw the concerts in Rome and Milan, and the guys from Easy Cure, The Cure's official coverband. I was so happy to meet everyone after such a long time, I've lost contact with most of the people from the Cure Forum in the last year and it's a pity. But they still remembered me and seemed happy to see me.

I'll have to go back to London one of these days, I've been away for too long.

PS I uploaded a few photos from the show, they're not so great but I was too busy enjoying the concert to worry about taking decent pics.

I've finally got my arse in gear and drew a cartoon about my band. It's in Italian but you may find it funny, so here it is. That's what typically happens when we practice. Damn guitarists...

Picture 1: "OK, let's go. 1, 2..."

Picture 2: "I'm going to kill him!"

A friend of mine told me a friend of hers is making a short film putting together brief clips of various people and asked me if I wanted to shoot a video for the casting. I thought "Why not?" and did it.

The sentence is in Italian and doesn't make any sense, but my performance is brilliant.  I was asked to look "haughty". This is the result.

I'm finally done with the first 2 exams (I got 28/30 in the Theatre and Society one and 30/30 inthe Music and Society one ), so now I have a bit of time to upload a few pictures from my Easter trip. The little report is copied/pasted because I'm a lazy sod.

DAY 1

9:30 AM - My parents try to drive me to the station, but after 5 minutes we're stuck in the Traffic Jam of Doom(R). We realise we will never make it in time by car, so we just go to the underground station and take the green line. The train leaves in time and arrives in Pescara with only a 10-minute delay, which in almost a miracle considering Italian trains are always late.

Best part of the journey: looking out of the window and seeing the sea.

DAY 2

Rain. There isn't much to do with this weather, so I decide to be productive for once and study a bit for my music exam. That, and I draw cobwebs and a dragon for my cousin's 5-year-old son.

Studying. Or Trying to.

DAY 3

I was supposed to go to Rome today, but guess what, it's still raining. In the afternoon it stops raining and I go out with my aunt, who makes me drive my uncle's car. Living on the plain, I had forgotten how difficult it is to start a car on an uphill road. Damn. My aunt insists on getting me something for my birthday and we end up buying a thumb ring, as I stupidly lost the one I used to wear.

Funny fact of the day: the lamb-shaped cake almost exploding in the oven. I swear I had nothing to do with it, I was still drawing cobwebs when it happened. :P

DAY 4

A sunny morning at last. I go for a walk and take some pictures along the way. In the afternoon one of my cousins takes me to Pescara and we have a walk on the beach.

DAY 5

Sun again. I explore a random field, knee-deep in the grass, and find myself on top of a hill facing a glacier. In the afternoon we're off to Pescara again. I could get used to having the sea just 20 minutes away from home.

Such a perfect blue sky

DAY 6

Easter lunch with a dozen relatives. I can't remember the last time I've eaten so much chocolate. In the afternoon I sneak online for a bit and send Easter wishes to my friends. And go egg-hunting on bademeister.com. ^_^

DAY 7

Two more excursions today, to a small park in the morning and to a hermitage in the afternoon. The different shades of green on the hills are amazing. In the evening we have a barbecue. It feels like I've eaten more meat in the last 7 days than in the last 7 months.

This looks like one of my Magic: The Gathering cards

DAY 8

Rome! I take the 7:00 AM train and for the first half hour of the journey a creepy old man keeps staring at me. Then a middle aged man tells me about his youth in Rome and a Nigerian guy asks me if I'm Italian, saying I don't look Italian at all. And then he tells me he "would like to know me better". Why me?

Anyway. My original idea was to visit St. Peter's basilica, but the queue to enter is so long it goes all the way round the square, it would take at least 3 hours to get in. It's already 11:30, so I decide to visit other monuments instead.

At the end of the day I'm dead tired, but it was worth it: I visited Castel Sant'angelo, the Pantheon (where a group of German students commented on my Ärzte Statt Böller T-shirt), Trevi's fountain, l'Altare della Patria, the Forum and the Colosseum. All on foot. Not bad for my first time in Rome I'd say.

DAY 9

I don't have anything planned for today, so I just go buy the train ticket to go home the next day. Apparently everyone is going to Milan on the same day and there are no more tickets left for the faster trains. On the way back I buy a nice yellow (YELLOW???) top with little white and brown skulls on it.

DAY 10

We go to the local market and I buy a long sleeved T-shirt with a purple skulls and stars print, while my aunt gets me a lovely bag, black with white stars.

The train leaves on time (WOW) and stops in all the most popular holiday-towns of the Adriatic coast. Luckily I have some comics and my MP3 player. "Bingo" has officially become my personal "on the road" album. Too bad I didn't have "Endlich Urlaub", it would've been great listening to it while watching the sea on such a nice sunny day.

I'll write an entry about my Easter trip too, I just don't know when. Hopefully before the summer holidays...

As of yesterday I'm officially back to being a student. Three years after getting a degree in Sociology, I'm (finally) quitting my current job as SAP programmer and going back to my old university to attend a Master's in "Management of live events". Next week will be my last week at work. Courses start on the 12th February. Wish me luck.

Oh boy, I swear we're the laziest band ever. Last Friday I sent an email to our vocalist asking if we were going to play tonight, he said he'd have to call because he didn't remember, but he didn't feel like doing it at the time. Yes, making phone calls is sooo tiring. Well, we're not playing in the end, because he forgot to book the rehearsal room.

Am I annoyed about that? Not really, I haven't played a single song in the last 2 weeks. Maybe the new year will give us a little more motivation...
