The AMA (American Medical association) has a new website up
http://voicefortheuninsured.org
They want to try and help the poor get health insurance. They want stories from uninsured people as they offer a new 3 - tiered plan to solve the healthcare crisis. I personally see faults in the new plan. Here is what I wrote for the "being uninsured" answer:
Being uninsured... means that I take care of myself preventatively. I have learned a lot about herbs and nutritional supplements that solve the base of my problems, not simply the symptoms.
My personal (artist activist) position stands upon this.
I lived in Spain for 7 years, 5 of which was illegal. Then never denied me healthcare. In the end I had a hysterectomy, free, on a health care system that I was happy to pay taxes for. Where all prescriptions (anywhere) cost me about four euros, and i could even bring that down by doing some paperwork.
I was a legal citizen when I had my surgery. I still paid nothing for it, and when time came to pay taxes, I didnt care HOW much I had to pay, knowing how I would have been treated in the US. I was HAPPY to give them my money for what they had done for me.
Now I am back in the USA. I refuse to pay for a system that is bloated, overpriced, unfair, and inconsistent.
I still think, honestly, that your 3- tier system is a nice try, but the real problem is about the pharmaceutical companies gouging the country with ridiculous costs.
In the US, I fear physicians. I hear of friends going to doctors and being "sold" various drugs that they may or may not need.
Im sorry, but since the AMA is trying to solve some issues, we have to look at the root. As with any illness, there is a root reason why it exists. There is also a root reason why the USA is failing in caring for its citizens, its not about health insurance as much as its about the Pharmaceutical companies.

i have to share that yesterday, as I was on my way to clean up from Liberte, I passed a pink mercedes coupe with white crosses on it. Of course the pink grabbed my eye, but the license plate just about killed me!
JESUSWG
Now I was feeling pretty down, today was a rough day, for a couple of reasons, we'll say none of them logical at the moment. but I didnt know exactly what to make of that. wow ok, so is jesus calling me? or am I jesus too? why is anyone sending me the message with JESUS? I dont usually follow him... other people yes, how about GANESHAWG or SHIVAWG or ALLAHWG I dont know...... anyway, I am in the process of waiting to see what jesus wants. the unfortunate thing that I am sure of is that jesus would have like me take a picture of that car, and I didnt .
uh oh wg

from March 21st I am in Beeeutiful Grand Rapids Michigan, with Brainstormers. We performed three shows, 300 kids each, and two different schools. When we return, we have to program the sound effects for the next day, etc. and we decided to watch video of ourselves to critique. once we started watching video, I remembered I had asked for that to try and improve myself. anyway, once we finished I was looking at stuff on the computer with Jacquie when we heard a bunch of screaming. I went outside when it really sounded like panic. I saw three kids surrounding a little one, with the bigger boy doing heimlich. I ran over ( cuz i have had first aid training) and as I was just about to check her out more, when she started to throw up and the candy that was stuck in her throat came out. This poor family was four kids and grandma. Grandma didnt know what to do with the baby choking, (so they went to the elevator, to go to the front desk to call 911) luckily the big brother got involved and remembered the heimlich done to him when he was little, so he tried it, and it worked. I helped them get their room keys sorted, which they had forgotten in their rooms, and tried to settle the grandma. The parents were out to dinner and grandma was babysitting. She had no concept of first aid. I tried to get jacquie to call 911 in case the little girl’s ribs were broken or anything. but they didnt want me to. so I just watched for a little while, and everything seemed ok. Needless to say, I didn t get to bed so early. another early morning, and i am wiped. but I feel good having helped that family.
off to get more tea. :) k
Now I am performing this weekend at the Liberte party, next weekend maybe rapelling off of a building for the opening of EarthFest :) Could be fun, gotta see the building first.
Last week we had the Fringe Festival. It was an honor to perform in the Detroit Music Hall. Beautiful stage, lighting etc. for 48 people when we went on. Its only the second year, so people dont know so much about it. We have to help make it louder next year. I would like to make something on the facade of the building. They are clearly up for a Rapell inside and/or outside. So it would be nice to be a few people.
its starting to get warmer, that’s a relief. I would like to be on my bike everywhere I go, just working up the courage, I guess. I rode the other day, and it was great. There is a bike lane down the closest main road for awhile, then the sidewalks are good. I dont trust Detroit drivers at all, They aren’t used to bikes.

HEY! so I got to work 2 minutes late, which was noticed, unfortunately, but all is good. I was a bit nervous, not knowing what they had planned for me, but I am happy.
I sent you a picture of the big top, and I will send you another special picture that happened on tv last nite.
I worked with Martin, in HVAC (the air conditioning generators for the whole site.) First I tore down all the AC in the kitchen. Martin told me what to do, left me alone, and I did it. He came back and said "Hosti!!! (means like SHIT) Slow down, take your time, you're working too fast!" I took that as a compliment, finished what I was doing and then we met up to talk about tear down and what was going to happen. Then just running around after him, grab a road case, unload it, grab a cover for a generator, get told we dont need it... Martin explained everything really well, has a great attitude and is a pleasure to work for.
Then I started to see people I havent seen in awhile. Other fly-ins, and some of my favorite people from Dralion ended up on this show. What a pleasure. Tonight I am going to smoke a fatty and have some beers with Luc. Head carpenter. I worked for him quite a bit, and know him quite well. I thought actually My EX was working with Luc. So it was a big surprise to see him here, and hear that what he had planned before didnt pan out so he returned to his favorite show. He helped create Quidam.
I loved that everyone I knew came up to Martin and said "Take care of pinky" and made the "I'm watching you motion" I am, of course, the only woman on this crew. And I have already proven I can carry my own weight, which makes me happy.
soooo people are already talking, they want me to work more, and are happy to see me. That was an important step after so much time off. Quidam is not doing all of south america. They are doing mexico, then portugal and then all of spain...
Sooo tomorrow, 8-12 I work preparing for tear down, then free from 12-6pm and return to work at 6 to work till 12 midnight. Not bad. When I think of 16 hours in every day for Lighting tear down, this is a breeze. Tomorrow I learn how to change the oil on the generators (generators that are trucking container sized), and prepare the tear down, and then when we start at six I get a crew of six guys and get to lead them to do all the heavy work. Martin asked me about forklift experience too, and already had me driving, good, since I haven't driven since my class in Dusseldorf in December. Of course that was fine too.
My friend Angelika told me that working for Logistics was better, more chilled in general, its true. We finish, have beers, talk, and they are trying to work on the Per Diems situation because everyone was angry when they started to tax them. - Show quoted text -

I dreamt I was in a big office building and Batman was in trouble. I saved him. I got on his back and made us fly. He was making himself into his shadow to get out of certain situations, being caged and such.
Every time I walked thru the hallways of this office building I passed by an auditorium where many chinese men were watching a beauty contest - but every time - it was a different beauty contest.
Then, I was on a boat. I steered it into port, but when we tried to leave the top of the boat got caught on some kind of ceiling. There were two villians on the boat. It looked like a startrek ship.
When I made Batman fly, I was able to manipulate us around telepathically. We were low to the ground and if an obstacle gon in our way, I would concentrate (Lucidly) to make us rise above it.
there was a sign somewhere in the dream, it was carved into stone or in soil.
"We are lost....It is too hot" |||0||| many other symbols I think I saw it while I was flying around with Batman. yay

its so wierd. when the degrees of seperation decrease, when the connection smiles at you and to realize whats possible for everyone to share. I love a world that gifts. Like monkeys in the trees dropping bananas right when you're hungry
dropping concepts of what could be right, when its so wierd.
