Magus Dux Adramelech - Vocalist

CG:  Hail Adramelech thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me today!! You are member of the Unholy Horde known as Blackmass!! Can you give us a brief history of the band and how Blackmass began?

Adramelech: Blackmass started in 2001 just with Lord Aeshma and me. For some time we were looking for a drummer but as at that time it was impossible we decided to record the first CD-Demo by ourselves. Then I played drums, vocals, and Aeshma guitars and bass. In 2002/2003 Verberibus necare joined us to be the drummer and with him, we started to compose an EP called "Espiculum Servo Servorum Satanii" which was recorded with Aesham on guitars, Verberibus on drums and I as vocals and bass. With this line-up in 2005 we recorded our first full-length called "Gloria Diaboli" that was in 2006 release world-wide via Sinister Sounds from Canada.

CG: The Blackmass Horde is made up of 3 band members. Tell us something interesting about yourself and the other members we would want to know.

Adramelech: Well, Verberibus Necare is graduated at University as Engineer (Environment), Lord Aeshma is a business man with a well-know metal store here in Brasil, I'm graduated at university in Portuguese and Latim, Well, almost everyone thinks that just because you play in a metal band you have no other possibilities, and almost everyone who knows about these points of us get wondered.

CG:  Do you plan to add any additional band members in the future?

Adramelech: We tried it for so long time, mainly to add another guitar player that could give us more power on the stage, but it's really complex, as we ought to find another person who'd like to keep the same Blackmass' lines, enjoy the way of playing this kind of music, etc… nowadays we gave up about looking for another member.

CG:You are from Brazil. Tell us about the metal scene where you are from. Is Brazil's metal scene mostly black metal, death or Grindcore metal, and have you seen a change in metal scene where you are from?

Adramelech: Well, the metal scene in Brazil is really powerful, but it's a little hidden from the public, it means, there are many people who enjoy metal here, but as this kind of musics aren't swell-know, many people still with a bad imagination about metal. Here the most are Heavy Metal, but there are a big mass of black mettalers. We're hoping that in a near future the situation here change to better, with more promotion, events and space in the musical business to metal.

CG:  You released your first gull length album in 2005 called "Gloria Diaboli" on Blasphemy Productions. But it could have been released the previous year on a different label. This was a good decision on the band to wait, how has this worked out for you? Any advice to other bands in regards to choosing a record label?

Adramelech: Well, in fact, we got many problems with labels before release  "Gloria Diaboli", because we had signed down with a label that just in the time to take the material ready just faded away, then we were obligated to wait and wait for a new label contract, then appeared "Blasphemy" and as the work of "Gloria Diaboli" was getting old, as we had recorded everything but just around 1 year later we got the chance of being in another label, we signed down to Blasphemy" to release the song. Advice is: Be careful with labels as there are many of them which wishes just "play" with a serious and professional work. Get as much information about the label as you can before sign a deal.

CG:  Gloria Diaboli is 9 tracks of true evil on an album!!! The track "Alse Nocturne' is sung in Latim! What is your favorite track off the album and why?

Adramelech: Well, there are many I could say you, here in Brasil "I Call Upon Thee" is said as the best one, but in fact for me the best one should be "Infernal horned God" because on this track we have many themes, it means, Blackmass shown all of itself there, with blast part, slow down parts, several ways of vocals, great guitar works… but the one I think is the most interesting is "Alae Nocturnae" as it's all in Latim, a thing that everyone finds mystic, and mainly it became a kind of Blackmass' mark.

CG:  Has the album reached any black metal music charts that you know of?

Adramelech: Well, specific information about that, unfortunately I don't have, but I can say that Blackmass was featured at Sollarfall radio from Sweden as the "Band of Month", and in the Radio from Canada Metallurgy. I know that CD had a good response by the media and people in Europe.

CG:  Youre now writing songs for an upcoming album due out at the end of this year called "Nemeis". How are rehearsals going? And you still expect it to be released late this year? And what can our readers expect from the new album?

Adramelech: For sure, we started to compose new material for a forthcoming album, we had planed it for late of this year, but we're not so sure about it, as the date can be changed by the label. The rehearsal are being great, we're exploring many new possibilities of playing for adding more aspects to the songs. The new album will keep brutal and technical. Once we'll have a song sung in Latim, and people can expect a powerful album with a great production.

CG:  Have you taken time off from live shows this year to devote all your time to rehearsals for the new album? Or can your fans expect upcoming gigs from you?

Adramelech: We decided to get such time off from gigs for writing this new album. We decided it because we're wishing concentrate all of our efforts to write really great songs, to have more time for rehearsal and then be able to explore new ways. Then fans will need to wait for some time until see us again.

CG:  Will you be performing any new songs off the upoming new album at the shows before it is released?

Adramelech: Yes, we'll introduce to the fans 2 or 3 songs of the forthcoming album in the gigs we'll do before realease the new album. It's a good way to promote the new CD as fans can listen to a little potion of what's coming, and they can have the time for the anxious grows up inside them to buy the CD.

CG: Tell us about some of your shows. Have they been mostly around Brazil or have you performed outside of your country and can you tell us of some of the bands you have performed with in the past?

Adramelech: Almost all of them were in Brasil, mainly because our country is really a big territory, then we had and we still having a big filed to explore here. We've planed with bands like Vulcano, Evilwar, and many others which I cannot remember pretty well now…

CG: Any plans for tours in the future?

Adramelech: We're wising a tour for promotion of new album, we'll try to have a North America & Europe tour for that, but it's a thing which promoters must to work to become true, but we have the hopes for that.

CG: What are some of your personal favorite bands that have inspired you?

Adramelech: I like Marduk, Setherial, Gorgoroth, and many other…ah King Diamond!

CG:  You have one of the best websites I have seen!! It really is awesome! Our readers can check it out @ www.blackmass.com.br. They can check out those bad ass t-shirts you have!!! They rule!

Adramelech: Thank you very much. We're tying to work as professional as we can in all the fields that are possible. And a good website helps the band, giving information to the fans, to promoters, to label, and mainly a good work shows respect to the ones who wish to know the band better.

CG:  The artwork for "Gloria Diaboli" is really great. Will you be using the same artist for the cover of "Nemesis"? And when can we get a sneak peak at the new cover art?

Adramelech: Once, thank you! This time the artist won't be the same, but the new artist is as capable as the one from Gloria Diaboli. New cover will represents "NEMESIS" the destruction, the vengeance…it's better wait a little to check it.

CG: Is there anything you would want us to know that I have not asked yet?

Adramelech: NO, no. I think all the questions were great ones, and let the readers know us better.

CG: I want to thank you for the interview and let our readers know they can check out your songs on your bands myspace page www.myspace.com/blackmass .

CG: Last Rites???

Adramelech: Well, thank you very much for such questions and space. CG:  Hi Steph, :) thank you for taking your time to do the interview. How are you doing today?

STEPH: Hello there, i am doing fine thanks. Preparing myself for the questions.

CG:  Inborn Suffering was born in autumn of 2002. Can you tell us briefly how Inborn Suffering began?

STEPH: Basicly I was in another project band with Nicolas Favard (Ex Despond). It was rather experimental. Later on Manu and Tom met with us and we decided to create a doom band together. The first jam session went ok, but Nicolas Favard's style was incompatible with what we wanted. We then decided to
create a doom band influenced by the 90's doom scene, Inborn Suffering was born with Thomas on drums, Manu on bass and me on guitars. We decided to complete the line-up then with Loic on guitars (guitarist of Nydvind and Heol Telwen), Seb (Keyboards) and Fred (vocals).  That is the original line-up. In these times we have changed line-up and we are quite satisfied with the way it is going.

CG:  You have 5 members including a keyboardist. Tell us something about yourself and the other band members.

STEPH: Well we are friends before being a band. We are doom worshipers and quite cool i must say. ;) We have a new recruit, Laurent on the guitars and Vocals. He is also the frontman in Mourning Dawn (black doom). Since the departure of Loic it was
quite difficult for us to find a talented guitarist.

CG:  You are from Paris France. Is there a big doom metal scene there? Why did you choose doom metal over other genre of metal?

STEPH: The doom scene in France is kinda non existant compared to countries like Finland, Sweden etc .. But i think it will get bigger in the future. People really start to dig that music here, and they are starting to put asside same old boring black metal etc .. Not that i don't like black metal, but at a point you need new stuff happening in the scene. I see all that in a positive way. Inborn Suffering, Ningizzia, Monolithe, Ataraxie, Lethian Dreams, Remembrance. The french doom scene is small but has quality stuff to offer

CG:  Your website is great! Our readers should check it out @ http://www.inborn-suffering.com. Youre a great web designer as well! Do you or the other band members have any side projects or hobbies we would want to know about?

STEPH: Thanks for your comments about our website. Well i did mainly the ergonomy and coding and Seb did the graphic part. This combination works quite well. Webdesign is my job, so i..'m kind of used to all that. As side project, i have ningizzia, a dark doom band that has released one CD already. This is the project i share with Niclas from forest of shadows. I am also in Mislead, another band more paradise lost, rapture sort of that i share with Seb. And Abysmal Abbhorentia, my brutal deathcore band. I really have all sorts of projects on my mind also .. medieval music etc. Thomas and Laurent play in the black doom band  Mourning Dawn. Hobbies, well its quite diverse, Seb is into Alien stuff  i'm into medieval instruments and other strange stuff , manu is into video games ;) haha ... Tom likes world of warcraft

CG:  Your 2006 release "Wordless Hope" has recieved some very great reviews making you number one doom metal band in your country! Did you expect such a great response from your first release?

STEPH: Well number one doom metal band, i wouldn't say it like this. But as the scene is short here, we do seem to be quite known and liked as a trad doom death band. Wordless hope got some nice results yes, we are very happy about the positive response it receives. Its a pleasure to do music that we like and that people seem to appreciate. We didn't expect that much good response
to be honnest. We know the album has flaws, but we also know that our album will be much stronger. We can say nevertheless that we are proud of what we achieved.

CG:  Where is your album distributed? And where are most of the sales at the moment

STEPH: We have no idea as of now. But we can say that we sold quite a few in France. The album should be available worldwide. Sound riot has good distribution thanks to century media, firebox etc.

CG:  Some of your influences include Anathema ( I love them), Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Mourning Beloveth. Describe to us what is similar with these bands and also what sets you apart from them?

STEPH: Well to put it short, we like traditional doom death. We like the doomy atmosphere, the melodic lyrics, the powerfull riffs etc ..We do before all that what we like and what we feel. This is music we can feel.

CG:  You recently played at the Dutch Doom Day V. What other bands played at the show? Did go well for you  and what was most memorable about it?

STEPH: We played with bands like Ataraxie, Funeralium, Saturnus etc .. it went very good! There were 3 french bands as you can see. It went good for us, except we had mediocre sound. The response was good, but we were deciding whether to stop or continue playing because of our shit sound. But it remains a great souvenir overall.

CG:  You are now composing new songs for your upcoming 2nd cd! Can you tell us at this time how is that going? What can we expect from the new songs? When do you think the new cd will be ready to be released?

STEPH: That is going very well. Our new material is more evoluated and better constructed in our opinion. You should expect doom death with a slight finnish touch. The new Cd might see the day somewhere in 2008.

CG:  What are your plans for Inborn Suffering in 2007? Have you set any goals to accomplish by the end of the year?

STEPH: Well we have many plans, but it is difficult to achieve them all. We want to compose a lot,  but we will also be doing gigs. We will be appearing in a doom festival in Paris with bands such as pantheist and esoteric. We want to do a video clip of one of our new songs also.

CG:  Do you anticipate any more shows this year

STEPH: We have some confirmed shows for June September etc .. Actually We had also for April, to play with My Dying Bride. But part of the band will not be available on that period. I was shocked to learn that My Dying Bride wanted to play exclusively with gothic metal bands here in paris. I..'m really not into their new stuff anyways, even if they stay cult to me.

CG:  Is there anything you would want us to know that I havent asked

STEPH: hmm,  .......

CG:  What do you guys do for fun in your spare time

STEPH: Well, we talk, we drink etc . all sorts of stuff... haha..

CG:  Do you like or participate in any sports of any kind?

STEPH: I like martial arts, for example krav maga of aikido. I did Judo and tae kwon do in the past and want to do martial arts again... but need to find back the motivation and time.

CG:  Steph I thank you for doing the interview with me and I want to let our readers know they can visit the official Inborn Suffering myspace page @ http://www.myspace.com/inbornsuffering

STEPH: Thank you Paula for all!  Doomed shall thy be!

CG:  Hello Zircron..SUP!!!! Great to meet such an awesome black metal band from the states!! How are you?

Chris: Hey Paula, nice to meet you too. We're doing great, thanks!

CG:  Chris tell us a little history about how Zircon started and about the band members.

Chris: Sure, Zircon started back about 7 years ago with Scott (guitar/vocals) writing a bunch of music and recruiting Jay (guitar), Eric (drums) and the original bassist Joel. I was in a band called Acephalus at the time and together with Zircon we were pretty much two of the only extreme metal bands in Worcester back then. This first incarnation of Zircon started making a name by doing some local shows with Acephalus and then scored some really good gigs opening for Cryptopsy, Mayhem and playing the 3rd Annual New England Metal & Hardcore Festival. I didn't officially join Zircon until the reformation in 2005 but I was around for many of the things that happened in the early days.

CG:  So is there a good metal scene where you are from? Got alot of extreme metalheads there in Worcester?

Chris: It's good, and it's getting better all the time. 8 - 10 years ago it fucking sucked being a metalhead or being in a metal band around here… there were no clubs booking good metal shows and you had to go to RI or CT to catch any of the good tours. Radio stations just played the same old Limp Bizkit & Korn type stuff and called it metal. Now we have a whole bunch of clubs around here that will have dedicated metal shows and there is usually a good turnout. The biggest rock radio station in the Northeast, WAAF, now has a nightly metal show where you can actually hear some real metal. And of course, The New England Metal & Hardcore Festival and the Rock & Shock Festival happening here every year have definitely put Worcester on the map as one of the most metal cities in the USA!

CG:  You guys disbanded for a short period in 2001? Correct? What made you decide to put the band back together?

Chris: It was actually about 4 years that Zircon was disbanded for. People had different shit going on with their lives back in '01 and the band just fell apart because of it. Now we are older, wiser, more stable and more dedicated to what we are doing. Zircon got back together because it was obvious that we all had the drive to make it work this time.

CG:  I am really impressed to find out that your album "Vastlands" was rated #15 by Black Night Meditations metal director's top 50 albums of 2006!! How does that feel? Bet that was an honor!!

Chris: To have anyone put our album on a list of their favorites feels great. Thousands of metal albums get released every year and for us to be #15 is an honor indeed.

CG:  Vastlands is actually your second release right? Your first release was "Equilibrium" what year did you release that one?

Chris: I think you're referring to the 3-song  self-titled demo that we put out earlier this year, as we haven't released anything under the title Equilibrium. That demo was basically just 3 the songs from the Vastlands CD which we had been streaming for free on our Myspace page anyways. We wanted to have something on CD that we could hand to people at shows or mail out to radio stations & magazines and then put out the full Vastlands CD once we had found a label to release it.

CG:  Where are your albums distributed? How can our readers get a copy?

Chris: The Vastlands CD is carried by our label Oak Knoll Productions (www.oakknollmetal.com) which has distribution through Century Media. Right now, readers should get their copies straight from the band through our Myspace page (www.myspace.com/zirconmetal) where you can get ordering info on all our merchandise. The CD is in a limited, hand-numbered first pressing right now but will soon be re-pressed.

CG:  You have a shitload of upcoming shows with Dark Funeral, Unleashed, Belphegor, Krisiun. Is this a mini tour? Have you done a US tour? Have you done a European Tour or plan to?

Chris: We are doing our first "mini-tour" this weekend actually, which consists of 3 dates in PA & NY with Sapremia from NJ. The shows you mentioned are more like local shows for us since they are only up in NH about an hour or so away from us and we'll be heading home after each show. Full US tours and European tours are hopefully in the future for us but for right now we're doing what we can afford to do.

CG:  You got the "Central New York Aggressive Metal Fest 2007" with Fecal Corpse and The Red Death coming soon, damn Id like to see that show!  How can we get tickets for this event?

Chris: People should contact Joe @ 315-382-6501 for advance tickets to the CNYAMF this Saturday in Oswego, NY. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

CG:  Are you getting alot of radio airplay? Where can we hear Zicron?

Chris: We've been getting played regularly on WAAF's Harder Faster metal show in Boston, on Black Night Meditations in New Hampshire and other various college and internet radio stations. You can hear 3 of our songs free on our Myspace page.

CG: What were some of your favorite bands growing up? Who influenced you the most?

Chris: Well I first started listening to extreme metal around age 13. I'd say my first influences in this realm of music were Morbid Angel, Deicide, Death, Carcass, Atheist & Bathory. As a bassist… I can cite a lot of bassists specifically as influences, but I don't necessarily think it shows in my bass playing within Zircon. Some of my faves are Steve Harris, D.D. Verni, Steve DiGiorgio, Dave Ellefson, Tony Choy & Sean Malone.

CG:  Tell me a little about you guys outside of Zicron. Any side projects or anything interesting we would want to know?

Chris: We're just regular guys… when we're not doing Zircon stuff we're just hitting the daily grind like everyone else. As for side projects, I have a few, plus another serious band that I'm in is Bane of Existence which is straight-up death metal. Eric is in a band called Face Full of Shotgun.

CG: Whats your favorite kind of ice cream Chris? lol.. I had asked Oscar of HammerFall that, he went on in his blogs about being a huge ice cream lover.. mine is peach btw.. ;)

Chris: Believe it or not I'm not a big ice cream person… not too big on desserts actually. I'd rather eat more of the main course than have dessert! I do like ice cream every once in a while though, coffee is probably my favorite kind.

CG:  What are your plans for Zicron in 2007? What will you be doing this year?

Chris: More shows, another album, and having a damn good time while we do all of it.

CG:  Anything else we really need to know that I havent asked you?

Chris: If anyone wants to know anything, they can always message us on myspace or email to zirconmetal@gmail.com.

CG:  You can check out Zicron on myspace www.myspace.com/zicronmetal.. check out their merch and combos specials they got on the page..And see their shows!!!

CG: Thank you Chris for the interview..great to meet you.. keep it fuckin brutal!! /m/

 CHECK OUT THEIR NEW PICS!!

STEVE HANDEL  WITH HIS DEAN V AND LANCE LANGE WITH IS BATTLE AXE!!

LANCE- KILL EM!!! KILL EM ALL!! /m/

THEIR NEW SONG "SILENT SCREAMS" KICKS MAJOR ASS FOR REAL!! I LOVE IT!!

www.myspace.com/seventhcalling

CG:  Hey Steve, thank you for doing the interview with me.

SH:  "Your are very welcome.  I've been looking forward to it".

CG:  Will you introduce your band members to our readers and tell us a
little about them and where you are from?

SH:  "Sure.  From left to right.(laughs)  Just kidding.  We have Lance C. Lange on lead guitars
and lead vocals( and deadly objects)  Michael Poplees on the bass.  Our
co-producer of our debut album Jamie Strobach on drums-percussion.
And, myself, Steve Handel on lead vocals and lead guitars.

Well, Lance, he has been my brother in this for many years.  Had we
known then, what we were getting into! (Laughs)

Then we have Jamie Strobach.  He has been a great help with everything
from the inception of our album and beyond.  Also, owner of Triple 4 studios
in St. Paul, MN.  This is where we recorded our album at.

CG: Who is this Michael Poplees character you have playing bass for
you? *laughs*

SH:  "Michael is a great guy.  We are totally excited to be
working with him in this.  He comes in with the experience that is needed.  It
is great to be working with solid musicians that understand what it takes
to get the job done!  Most bands out there know what I mean.  It just
helps the machine move much more smooth."

CG:  Can you give us a brief history of how Seventh Calling came
about?

SH: "Yeah, in short, Lance and I each had a vision of what we wanted to
see in a metal band.  We each had many of the same influences.  Some more so
than others.  But, when we listened to our favorites, we tried to pick out,
what we would do differently if it was our album.  So, we set out on our
goal."

CG:  How did you and Lance meet?

SH: "Ha. Many beers ago! (laughs)  We were
right out of high school.  It was 1989.  Long time ago.  I actually
answered an ad that he had posted for a guitar player for hire.  So, I
called him up.  The rest is history."

CG:  You formed Seventh Calling in 2001. What projects or bands were
you involved in before you formed Seventh Calling?

SC:  "Well, there were a couple.   Cover bands.   I was in a group called Razor Kane from 1992-97.  We
actually did an AC/DC tribute set.  Along with two other sets of originals
and covers.  We released two albums(sort of).  The second was a >re-recording of some songs off of the first one, with a couple of new ones.   From 97-01 I played in another project that was called Vertigo.  We put >an album out with this project as well, but the disc never saw the shelves.   There were some internal problems with this project.  Then comes
SEVENTH CALLING.

CG:  The big news is you recently have been signed!! Congratulations
guys!! Can you tell us about this?

SH:  " Well, thank you.  Actually, this is something that we cannot get into detail yet. There will be an announcement made
from our label very shortly.  we are very excited though.  We can tell you that!

CG: How does this affect the release of the "Monuments" album? What
can we expect?

SH:   "Well, what this does is help us with the release.  The self done album is not exactly the same album that will be released in late spring of 07.  The album will be redone and released with all new artwork.  Lyrics and all, and it will be on a label and distributed to stores.  This is what we have been looking for since we had released our self done album.

CG:  I know you are planning to have a 2nd release. Can you give us any information about this at this time?

SH: "well, the first thing that we are focusing on is traveling the first album.  We know that there are many places out there that we need to get to and perform our material live for the fans.  But what I can say is If you like our first album, our new stuff is gonna blow you away."

CG: What are some of your goals for Seventh Calling for 2007? What can
we expect from you next year?

SC:  To get our business established inside the industry with very strong ties.  And, of course,
destroying the live scene.  This is what we do best!"

CG:  What bands would you say have influenced you and your music the
most?

SH: "100%, without a doubt, JUDAS PRIEST, METAL CHURCH, SLAYER, FIFTH ANGEL, FATES WARNING, just to name a few.

CG:  What does your music sound like? Would you say old school death metal? Or something different?

SC: "That is a good question.  Some have said classic US heavy metal, some progressive, and some have mentioned thrash as an >element as well.  We are very happy with the term HEAVY METAL.  But, so far, we really do not sound like anyone besides SEVENTH CALLING.  So, would say: Something different. Ha.

CG: HAHAHA

CG:  You have an upcoming show with Metal Church January 15th! That is so exciting! Do you expect a big turnout at this event? Do you have street teamers promoting it there for you??

SH:   "Yes, we expect to have a very good turnout.  The show has been advertised very well so far.  We are
actually planning on shooting a dvd of our set that night.  So, everyone get out to the show if you are near St Paul MN on Jan. 15.

CG: I got to have that DVD!! It will be an awesome show!  I think this is the very beginning for you guys. You have an
upcoming battle of the bands on KWTF The Edge. Can you tell us a little about this?

SH: "Yeah, actually.  We are gonna be the first featured contestant on the opener of season 5 on "Rock Solid Pressure".  The airdate is Mon.  Jan.1 at 9 pm EST USA time.  This is also on Pure Rock Radio and on WDYN 100.1 FM in New York.  What it is, is tune in to the show and vote for our song when it is playing.  You can only vote for the song you like when it is on.
Anything else will not count.  Our goal is to win 5 times in a row.  That would be sweet!  All votes are taken at
rocksolidpressure [at] yahoo [dot] com.
LISTEN AND VOTE FOR SEVENTH CALLING!"

CG:  Steve what do you like to do for fun in your spare time outside of making music?

SH:  "Ha Ha.  Sorry, spare time is hard to come by.  But, when I do get the chance, I like to go out and see other bands that I know.  guess it still has to do somewhat with music, but, I am the one in the crowd with a drink on these occasions!!  As opposed to being on the stage.

CG: Any special hobbies or interests or side projects any of you are involved in you think our readers would finding interesting?

SH: "Here is the best one.  Lance is the hunter of the group.  So, what we have is Taxidermy and eating alot of DEAD STUFF.  He gets a good clean cut with that axe of his! (LAUGHS)

CG:  Is there anything else you would like for us to know that I did not ask about?

SH:  "I guess, from everyone here at the Calling camp, Thanks to all e fans for your support and belief in METAL.  Stay true.  Like I
said before, we have a release set to come out in late spring of 07.  More details will be announced about that within the next couple of weeks.  So everyone PAY ATTENTION!  And, also, we do have 3 song samplers available of our upcoming release.  Stop by our site and hit us up for one.  Unfortunately, these are only available in the US at this time.  So with that, we will speak again.  Paula, a true pleasure as always!  And to all the fans, METAL FOREVER!

CG: Thank you so much for the interview. I enjoy your music and being your promoter. You guys really ROCK!   Good luck for 2007! Wish wonderful things for you!! Visit their website

Phone Interview with Oscar Dronjak, the guitarist of Hammerfall

He called on time and had a pleasant friendly voice. I didnt know if he would have such an accent that I wouldnt understand him. But no, not at all. This was a great conversation about 22 min.

Oscar: Hello this is Oscar from HammerFall, I dont really do these phone interviews so you will have to do most of the talking.

Paula: Hi Oscar.. Its great to talk to you and I do have some questions ready to ask you. (I wanted to make him feel comfortable with me). I read your blog and I laughed because you had truck problems.. because I just had truck problems. What kind of truck do you have and what was wrong with it?

Oscar: Yes I did.. I have 89 Ford Bronco, you know the OJ Simpson style. and it was having some overheating problems.

Paula: I know mine just left me stranded at work I was so embarrassed. I also read that you like football alot and you play pool!

Oscar: Yes I like to play football and Im not so good at pool.

Paula: I am very good at pool and I would love to play a game with you and beat you.. hahahahahaha

Oscar: You probably could.

Paula: I read you like ice cream alot too.. tell me what is your favorite flavor.

Oscar: I like anything with nuts in it.. and chocolate.

Paula: I like chocolate and cherry and peach!!

Oscar: We dont have peach over here in Sweden.

Paula: Im from Georgia, this is the peach state! haha

Paula: If you could give a shout out to any good upcoming bands who would you choose?

Oscar: Umm I would say Nocurnal Rites, they are not new, they been around for 10 years and maybe I am biased because Im good friends with them

Paula: Who are some of your favorite bands Oscar?

Oscar: Accept, Judas Priest

Paula: So you guys will be touring in Jan & Feb.. what bands will be touring with you?

Oscar: Im not sure yet.. we havent gotten the bands that will be in the tour. We are working on that and we will let everyone know.

Paula: Okay!! So how is the weather there?

Oscar: Im in New York actually and its windy.

Paula: OMG! Youre in the United States?? Cool! You doing shows here??

Oscar: No Im here for the weekend and we hope to do a tour here maybe late next year.. its in the works.

Paula: Well I sure hope you come to Atlanta!!

Oscar: We were in Atlanta in 2002, we played at The Masquerade with DIO!

Paula: Awww man I didnt hear of that show. I missed it.

Paula: You have a new album coming out in just days. What can we expect from the new album?

Oscar: It will be the best one, I know bands always say that, but we have added the excitment from live shows that the other albums dont have.

Paula: Which song best describes the last album Threshold.

Oscar: Fire Burns Forever I would say..

Paula: Whats more important in HammerFall, the good riffs, music, or the lyrics and why?

Oscar: Everything is important. Even the appearance of the band as well.

Paula: Well you guys are awesome you have the total package on that!

Oscar: Why thank you. We appreciate your support.

Paula: Could you tell us about future cooperations with Nuclear Blast because you have the new E.P. without Udo (ex-accept)

Oscar: Really good, never better, We are pleased with Nuclear Blast and will continue with them for the future.

Paula: Cool! I am on myspace..if you have a computer you can check me out.. www.myspace.com/darkangelwatchingoveryou

Oscar: I do actually ....... Cemetary Gates Promotions?

Paula: Yes!! Thats me.. I am a promoter and I am Sound Riot USA and I am on Nuclear Blast Records Street Team.

(through this conversation it had been static and he would fade in and out and I lost the connection and Im like awww. but we had a great conversation anyways!! I was glad I got to speak to him!! Then the phone rang again, HE CALLED BACK!!)

Oscar: Im sorry we got disconnected..

Paula: Awww well that was very nice of you to call back!

Oscar: Of course I would it is the most courtious thing to do!

Paula: What are you plans today? What are you going to do tonight?

Oscar: Well I have one more winner to call and then Im off to the Skid Row release party!!

Paula: Awesome! How many winners were there for the phone call from you?

Oscar: Only 3 were chosen to recieve a call.

Paula: WOW!! I am so lucky to have talked with you today! I never win anything.

Oscar: Thats what the other winner said!!

CG: Hailz Morthvargr! Thanks for the interview! I have been to your
myspace
site and I can say Im very impressed. Your site looks great. So do your
banners and album artwork. The marketing for a new band like yours is
great.
Who does your artwork and marketing?

MV: The band does all it's own artwork, however Christophe S. did our
logo
itself, he is a very talented and generous artist, he offers his work
free
to any band.

CG: Who is doing this interview with me?

MV:  I, Nauthiz will be doing the interview with you today.

CG: Can you introduce your band members to us?

MV: On vocals we have Malicya, Drums Tagore, Guitar Nauthiz, and 2nd
Guitar
Tacitus. We are currently also working with a new bassist.

CG: How did you meet?

MV: I met Tacitus in highschool towards the beginning of our senior
year,
and we were the two originating members of the band as we started
jamming
almost two years ago. Malicya was in a previous band with me awhile
back, so
when i asked him to join morthvargr he fit like a glove. Tagore moved
to
Arizona where we are currently located from california, he heard we
were
looking for a drummer and sent us a email. After trying out it was
obvious
that he was the drummer we needed.

CG: Are you still needing a bass player? (I can post a bulletin for you
if
you need me to just let me know).

MV: We were searching for a bassist until recently, We just picked up
Mike
I. on bass and he is working on intergrading himself into the band as
we
speak.

CG: Do yo have any immediate plans to have an official website for
Morthvargr?

MV: We hope to get one very soon we just have been very busy getting
ready
to play shows, lots of practice and not alot of time to spare.

CG: Great vocal sounds you have! You have a 4 song EP out called "The
Sky
Opened Wide". Tell us how do we get a copy?

MV: Currently the sky opened wide is scheduled for a limited 50 copy
release
later in sept. which is almost already sold out from pre-orders. We
don't
have plans to have a full release at this time.

CG: Share with us how Morthvargr began and what bands influenced you
the
most.

MV: Like i said morthvargr started out with me and the other guitarist
in
highschool. I would say from our sound the biggest influences we had
were
melodic blackmetal. Bands such as dissection, graveworm and my dying
bride.

CG: Who does most of the writing for the band?

MV: I do almost all the writing, but we really do it in a systematic
way
almost. I write the song( all the guitar parts). After that i pass it
to
Tacitus who critiques it and cleans it up a bit. Then we have Tagore
write
the drums, and either Malicya or I write the lyrics.

CG: How old are you guys and are you still in college?

MV: I am 20, Tacitus 19, Tagore 21 and Malicya 24. Currently me and
Tagore
work full time, Tacitus is attending college and Malicya has graduated
college and is working full time.

CG: What other interests, hobbies, businesses or side projects do you
have?

MV: As far as my personal interests, i follow alot of paganism from
Northern
Europe; Asatru, Odinism. We like to do most things that most bands do,
which
includes lots of drinking and jamming. As far as side projects we are
just
trying to focus on Morthvargr for now.

CG: I see you will be playing October 14th at AZ DEATH GRIND FEST. What
bands will be at this show with you guys? There are going to be alot of
bands on this gig. There is 10 bands, all from Arizona. Its going to be
a
great show, they are giving out free comp. cds with all the bands on it
as
well as other give aways.

CG: Have you played many shows? What was your most memorable?

MV: We have only played a few shows due to us securing a lineup that we
desired. Since we just have done so we plan on playing alot more shows
in
the very near future.

CG: What are some of the greatest bands you've performed with?

MV: We havent performed with alot of bands yet, like i said we are just
beginning our live reign of terror.

CG: Do you have any plans to tour the US yet?

MV: We hope to sometime early next year do a west coast tour. Basically
south west tour such as AZ,CO,TX,NV,UT,CA etc.

CG: What are your upcoming plans?

MV: Our main upcomming plans right now is just to get out there. We
have the
material that i think alot of people will enjoy. Our sound is very
different
than most metal bands in this area so we hope to bring something new to
the
scene here.

CG:Any new news or final words for us?

MV: Just check out our website there will be many new things coming in
the
near future!

CG:I want to thank you for the interview and I will let our readers
know
they can check out your band on myspace @ www.myspace.com/morthvargr

MV: Thanks Paula we enjoyed the interview!

CG: Thank you Chaq for taking your time and granting me this interview! This is my first interview so remember practice makes perfect! lol..

CG: Biggest news I just heard, Dark Funeral is coming to the US. Im so excited

about that and look forward to more US dates. Hopefully one in Atlanta so

I can see your show and meet you in person! That would be awesome!

Your 4th full length Dark Funeral album "Attera Totus Santus" in stores

now! Do you have alot of Dark Funeral fans in the states? Where would you

say the majority of Dark Funeral sales are the highest?

CHAQ MOL: Yeah! We got a lot of fan mails from the states, and thatÃ?s cool.We see forward to tour there.I really donÃ?t know where we sell best. But I know that we are big in South America.

CG: You are also the founder of the band Mordichrist. Is there a big

difference in the style of music you play for that band verses Dark

Funeral?

CHAQ MOL: The two big differenties are that we play more doomy Black metal(even if we also do songs that have faster touch) and the fact that we have a female vocalist.

CG: Dark Funeral was formed in 1993, but you didnt become a member until 2003.

Tell me how was that first performance with Dark Funeral at Waken Open Air

Festival in Germany? How did you feel that night?

CHAQ MOL: It was great and it felt natural and even if it not was my best gig ever It felt wery good.

After that we went to South America and there I felt totally one with the band. But Im never gonna forget Wacken.

CG: Had you been friends with Dark Funeral before 2003?

CHAQ MOL: No!

CG: Dark Funeral has had some great tours!! Despite all the behind the scenes struggles with the changes of band members and shitty record labels. Do you see most of these struggles in the past now and the band has found their "groove" so to speak?

CHAQ MOL: Definately! We are stronger than ever. We have a stable line-up, management, record company and so on. So you can count in us for a long time.

CG:I was blown away to find out you actually have hit the Swedish Album

Charts "Top 40" with "Attera Totus Santus"!!! Congratulations on that!!!

CHAQ MOL:Thanx! But what can I say, We have done our best and we had a hell of a team in the studio So why not "Top 40",hahaha!!

CG: Now your band Mordichrist- 2 man doom metal band.. Can you give us a brief history about Mordichrist?

CHAQ MOL: We (Nenia and Me) Start the band in 2000. With intenssion to write obscure sick metal, with both doom and black in it.

2001 we release our first demo "The root of the embryo" wich got 6/10 in a mag.

2002 we wrote and release "Hatred on Repeat" wich we got some fans.

2004. it was time for our third demo "The blood rise" and now a serval of record companies contact us and we decided to go with Danza Ipnotic Records.

2005 Danza Ipnotica release a 10"MLP with 4 songs, taken from our demos.

2006 we are gonna release a 7"vinyl via Danza Ipnotica, and we have a deal with Regain Records

who are gonna release our first full lenght cd wich are gonna be release in the beginning of 2007

CG: How many Mordichrist ablums do you have? Whats the latest album? Where is it distributed?

CHAQ MOL:
3 demos

1 10"mlp

1 7" vinyl (Are gonna be release in sep.)

we have a huge distro. To mention a few: WARFRONT PRODUCTION.

Hellsheadbangers, Pentagramwarfare, Chrithuntprudutions, RAGINGBLOODLUST

HELLRIDEMUSIC, ANGELDUST-MAILORDER, DEATHSTRIKE RECORDS, VERYCD

CG: And I know you are very busy with tours with Dark Funeral. Do you have any future plans to tour Mordichrist?

CHAQ MOL: Not touring, But we are soon or later do selectiv gigs.

CG: Any new Mordichrist news our readers should know?

CHAQ MOL: I have mention few news, read the the text above.

CG: So lets talk about YOU Chaq...mmmmmm

Im interested to know what are some of your other types of interests

outside of making music.

CHAQ MOL: I like all things that runs with a motor. cars, bikes, boats..mm

I like dogs (My own is dead now) Occult things, movies, sex...yeah I kan do the list long.

CG: I see you are into cars, an interest of mine as well. I use to have

several "hot rods" back in the day with the mag wheels. What kind of cars

interest you? Are you a racing fan?

CHAQ MOL: I like old American cars, I have had a Pontiac Firebird 1969 with a 400 cu with manual gear. And a Barracuda ht 69 with 340cu. and a fucken plymouth volare, hahahah. But I like almost all cool cars.

CG:And you are married with children. How many children do you have? Why

couldnt I have a black metal dad!!! lol.

CHAQ MOL: I have only one (Thats is enuff, hahah) I can be your fader, then we can have sex, hahahah

CG: You currently live in Stockholm Sweden. Awesome! Is Stockholm very populated?

CHAQ MOL: If you look at other contries itÃ?s not so populated. but I donÃ?t like when itÃ?s to many anyway so it fitÃ?s me. ItÃ?s like 1 million who lives here in Stockholm.

CG: And you are founder of Diablo Piercing, a tattoo and metal shop in

Hornsgatan (interesting name btw)... Too Cool!!!! I would love to have you

pierce me for sure! : D

CHAQ MOL: Yeah itÃ?s a cool shop. if you come to me I do one for you!

CG: AWESOME GUY YOU ARE!

I could talk all day here... but I will end the interview.. Is there

anything else important our readers need to know?

CHAQ MOL: A curiosity that not many knows about me is that IÃ?m a hypnotist so donÃ?t get near me, you maybe end up as a frog, hahahah!!

CG: lol

CG:Thank you very much for your time, I will talk with you on myspace!! Hope to see you in America!!!
