Sine Star Project News

Hello all, It's been quite a while since we posted so here is a little

news update on what's going on behind the scenes.

Classic Rock Magazine are featuring us in the their special edition of

Classic Rock Presents Prog. It's available here in the UK, EU and the
US and will be out May 20th 2009 so look out for that.

Mean while it's a time for babies! Mike D has just had a baby boy and Nathan has a baby due in June! crazy! crazy!

So whilst thats keeping them busy we are also busy working on new material for the new album which is going very well, so far it's all
at the demo stage but we aim to start recording at the end of the year
with a release in the following year.

Some sad news is that Ben our bass player is moving to Austria to be nearer his family, we thought long and hard for ways to make it work
but decided in the end in the best interests of the band for Ben to leave.

we love you Ben and will miss you.

The most obvious replacement for Ben was a long time close friend of
the band Greyum May, having also played in the Ozric Tentacles with Metro,

he has also played bass for The Black Hand who worked with producers Eddie Kramer & Nick Tauber. Greyum also Bass techs for Megadeth, Zakk Wylde - Black Label Society and Lamb Of God.

Dont forget to be in LONDON this Saturday night to see us support The Pineapple Thief at the Half Moon in Putney.

A wise man once had a mother who said that, "Life is like a box a chocolates, you never know what you are going to get." That sums up the Sine Star Project entirely. The Sine Star Project is unlike any music that I have ever heard before and that is not a bad thing. I am the type of person who enjoys new experiences.

The Sine Star Project sounds like an amalgamation of several genres of music tossed in a big pot and then brewed into a single coherent song. This must be where the Jazz influence comes in.

"Post Human" sounded like an Industrial Song with a bit of Flaming Lips vocals. It got my toes tapping and I liked the lyrics. It definitely had an interesting arrangement to say the least.

"Chinese Drag Queen" has to be one of the best names for a song, I have ever heard. For some reason it makes me laugh, but in a good way. I have never seen a Chinese Drag Queen, but I did know a Chinese guy who had a pink car one time. Poor kid took no end of sh#t for it. But he dressed like an old white guy (think plaid polyester pants) and not like a girl. Cool guy though, maybe a little too obsessed with plans of world domination but other than that not a bad guy.

Unlike "Post-Human", the "Chinese Drag Queen" has a lot of classical influences. It's kind of weird going from an industrial song to one with more classical undertones but hey I like the diversity. It was definitely my favorite of their catalog due to the eerie background vocals. It was definitely a spooky song that would sound good at a Halloween Party or a B-Movie, Zombie Flick. That's not to say that the song was substandard, I just pictured some sort of B-Movie Zombie Vampire battle while I was listening. Maybe it was that Miho Hattori, "Barracuda" song and sleep deprivation that caused it. One can never tell.

Their other two songs were fine but they didn't really catch my interest. That's not their fault however. I have the A&R Man's curse. Once I hear a single everything else just kind of blends into the background. A song has to be sparkling to stand out in my mind. "Brown Bread" is growing on me though.

The thing I like most about the Sine Star Project is the variability and diversity. The vocals are pretty consistent but you never really know what kind of genre is going to get thrown at you next. I really have to give this band credit. This is not the type of music that I would normally like but they were able to shine through and provide for some very enjoyable listening.

Overall Review Score: Dragolicious

PostHuman

Yeah, this is excellent. I tried to count it out but got lost, the time sig seems oddly skewed. The stop and starts give this a very mechanical feel as suggested by the title without having to predictably resort to moogs. It's like you've reinvented the robots. A fresh take on Prog rock (sorry about that) without the cheesiness normally associated (at least by me). The vocals match perfectly. The whole thing is very interesting and very spontanious. It seems that at any moment it might take off in any direction. Hot hot stuff.

Sine Star Project -- Bleeding Like a Dog

Well, now this was sort of retro -- Queen with a tinge of Roxy. A rather interesting tune, I dare say. Production is well done, and twists and turns are pulled of with near perfection! A good tune to listen to when the sun is shining, and you're hanging out with friends on the beach or at the park. I give you a...

Sine Star Project - Bleeding Like A Dog

Your production was wonderful, rich textures, great vocals, and complex chord structures. There's a tongue-in-cheek mood to this song reminiscent of the Tubes or the Kinks. You should be proud of your work. I'll be listening to more and putting in a friend request.
