LOS ANGELES, Feb. 24 (AP)-- Elton Brand rejected the notion - rather forcefully - that the Golden State Warriors were going to beat out the Los Angeles Clippers for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Brand tied a career high with eight blocked shots, scored 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, leading the Clippers to a 103-90 victory over the Warriors on Saturday.

The Clippers jumped over Golden State into eighth place in the West, a half-game ahead of the Warriors and a half-game behind seventh-place New Orleans/Oklahoma City. Los Angeles has won 11 of the last 15 meetings and six straight at STAPLES Center.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Clippers appear to be getting their swagger back. They couldn't have picked a better time.

Elton Brand had 26 points and eight rebounds, Shaun Livingston scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, and the Clippers pulled away in the final 3 1/2 minutes to beat the Chicago Bulls 110-98 on Wednesday night, moving them above .500 for the first time in almost two months.

Clippers First Playoff Series Victory Named One of Los Angeles' Top Sports Moments of 2006

L.A. Clippers forward Elton Brand was selected as "Sportsman of the Year" and the Clippers first ever playoff series victory was named one of Southern California's top sports moments of 2006 at the 2nd annual Greatest Moments in Sports Awards, presented by the Los Angeles Sports Council.

The achievements were honored at a star-studded awards presentation held Sunday, January 21 at The Beverly Hilton and televised live by FSN PRIME TICKET.

Sportsman of the Year honoree Brand raised his game to another level in helping lead the Clippers to their best season ever in Los Angeles and their first playoff berth in nine years.

Brand has a reputation as a true sportsman based on the way he comports himself, both on and off the court. He is as consistent with his service to the community as he is with his points and rebounds. A tremendous competitor, he is also a media favorite in the locker room.
