Noise For The Needy, a Seattle-based non profit organization that raises money for charitable causes through the production of live music shows, is proud to announce that it has raised over $20,798 for Transitional Resources during this year's fest. 2009's Noise for the Needy festival included live performances by Art Brut, The Constantines, Grand Archives, Throw Me The Statue, Crystal Antlers, Adam Stephens and the Finite Plain (of Two Gallants), Black Whales and dozens of other amazing bands from across the nation.  Transitional Resources is a licensed mental health center and residential program located in West Seattle that offers a full spectrum of optimistic and respectful mental health services to adults with major mental illnesses. The agency, which was founded in 1976 as a residential treatment facility for young adults diagnosed with mental illness, began as a residential treatment program for fifteen and has now grown to include six different
programs that serve over 200 individuals each year. The organization also advocates against discrimination in order to work towards breaking cycles of incarceration, hospitalization and homelessness.

Noise for the Needy artistic director Jeffrey Henry discussed the organization's choice to benefit Transitional Resources with Seattle Weekly earlier this year, noting that Noise for the Needy “…chose Transitional Resources because they fill a rising need for mental-health services in the Seattle area. Coverage of medication for mental illness will be cut severely over the next year due to local budget shortfalls. This, coupled with the increasing number of veterans returning from ongoing wars who will also need help, made it a pretty easy decision. We feel contributing to Transitional Resources will have an immediate effect on improving the quality of life for the mentally ill in Seattle."

Noise for the Needy and Transitional Resources would love to thank everyone who attended, performed at or volunteered for this year's festival, and wish to encourage those who haven't to visit the organizations' websites, www.noisefortheneedy.org and www.transitionalresources.org. Both sites feature information on how to donate, volunteer and more.

The last time we blogged it was the middle of the event. Ad it got very busy around here so we had to concentrate of production rather than updates. Sorry about that. The shows are all over now. And it was an awesome year. Thanks to all of the bands, volunteers and most importantly the people who came out to support our charity, Urban rest Stop. We could not have done it without each and every one of you. We are tallying up the numbers now and should be releasing the results soon.  Again, thanks for supporting and thank you for your patience in getting the results.

Cheers,

Both Black Angels shows tonight were amazing. And if you have not heard the Warlocks you are missing out! The Comet show was rather awesome as well. I love the direction the Hungry Pines are goin in! Thanks to the bands, volunteers and music fans that made it all happen. We truly appreciate it.

Looks like tomorrow's Two Gallants show is too close to selling out. And with the awesome lineups at Conor Byrne and Sunset Tavern, you might want to get their early.

1 day own 4 to go! See you there!

Wow! First a delicious array of cupcakes and foods and such at the Sunset, they three tantalizing shows in Ballard. Two Gallants had sold out the night before. And the crowd was really excited to see them. The Tractor was birsting at the seems.

Over at Conor Byrne I caught a bit of almost all of the sets and they were amazing. Star Anna rushed obver to play just after her live set on KEXP. I saw a bit of the Tansmissionary Six set. Awesome.

and Levie Fuller and open Choir Fire closed out the night at Conor Byrne and Sunset Tavern. they were both amazing. Thanks to everyone for performing! i8t was a stellar evening. And we raised some important money for Urban Rest Stop.

A little update:

For the first time this year, we will be taking donations inside each show. Just locate the information table and NFTN volunteer and they will help you lighten your wallets for the cause! Remember when you go to a show to save the change from admission or you first drink and drop it in the donation jar. We will also have donation envelopes prepared for those of you who would like to donate in the form of a check our larger amounts. Just talk to the NFTN information table volunteer and they will they will provide the proper paperwork for you to fill out.

How exciting! Just another way to support Urban Rest Stop. Can't wait to see you all at the shows! this wednesday throiugh Saturday.

See you there!
