here's an artist's statement of sorts...
These 5 songs were inspired by "the best thing that ever happened to me" the night Jason Molina (my favorite singer songwriter) asked me to sing "hold on magnolia" with Magnolia Electric Co. Live! I didn't sleep that night, played the Black Wagon CD release the next day at Nobrow. We played a good show, my friend Ben said I wrote a song for Jason and I gave it to him last night, and I'm going to write a song for you tonight, and give it to you tomorrow and I said I'll do the same. Half delirious that night I wrote magnetic soul. Ben went to sleep, unaware that he had launched me on a 5 day writing spree. Most of these songs were recorded on the same day I wrote them, as soon as I could play them. They're still alive, and imperfect. I gave them to Jason in Phoenix. Special thanks to Ben Kilbourne and Jason Molina for these songs.

So the best thing that could ever happen to you happens, when you least expect it, so you're running on adrenaline for a week, you write 5 songs that you really like. I'm calling the cd listen to the wind. Stay tuned.
