Saturday 10/17/09 will be a special night in Los Angeles as Inspiration & Bump Sensibility present DJ/Producer directly & exclusively from New York, Antonio Ocasio!!!

Get ready for the hottest deepest dopest event in celebration of dance culture.... INSPIRATION exclusively held at International Dance Academy, home of America's Best Dance Crew, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing with the Stars! Come party where the your favorite dancers teach and train =)

For those of you who know your House history, gues DJ of the night from NYC Antonio Ocasio has his roots in the Paradise Garage days and was a key interviewee of the documentary Maesto. And his label Tribal Winds is one of a kind, spiritual ancestral roots house music!!

I can't praise this man's music enough. If you're a DJ, you definitely have some of his records in your collection, if you've ever been to Inspiration you've most likely gotten down to some of Antonio's productions.

Antonio Ocasio grew up in the South Bronx where the neighborhoods were booming with a rich sound in music that included both African American and Puerto Rican culture. The combination and integration of both cultures reflects in the music he makes and has set the sound track for events like Inspiration and many others. Please join us as we proudly welcome him to back Los Angeles!

Also on the line-up will be 2 of our good friends and LA's best, who this event wouldn't have been possible without. This is definitely a night of music & dancing you won't want to miss!

Peace, Justice and Healing for ALL
Thursday, September 25, 2008

Current mood:  hopeful
ON OCTOBER 11 WE TAKE A STAND & MAKE OUR STATEMENT, IT WILL BE 7 YEARS SINCE THE US MILITARY WENT INTO AFGHANISTAN. IT WILL ALSO BE THE DAY BEFORE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY.

TAKE A STAND WITH US AND BE PART OF THE MOVEMENT.

What: INSPIRATION is the highly celebrated, beautifully created dance, music and arts event with a grassroots conscious mindset that has been consistent for 4 years in Los Angeles. Join as as communities come together to dance, create and celebrate peace, justice and healing by organizing an "INSPIRATION says NO to war, YES to life!" event.

When: Saturday, October 11th, 2008, 9pm - 2am

Where: MAL'S CAFE: 2331 S Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA 90007
PLEASE NOT THAT THE VENUE IS 21+ ONLY

Who: The proceeds will go to Jahan (http://www.jahan.org), an Afghan humanitarian non-profit which applies 100% of all donations to Afghan children's education projects by using an all-volunteer staff. In order to raise the money, there will be a $10 cover at the door, and donations and raffles inside.

Why: We stand in solidarity with the war-torn nation and people of Afghanistan as they enter their 7th year under U.S. military occupation (in October) and nearly three decades of war and injustice, death and destruction, poverty and migration. And while Afghanistan is thousands of miles away, it is only a breath away from our struggles in our streets. From our youth deployed and enlisted to the unemployed and addicted, our problems are linked. Now we link our possibilities and prophecy this:

End unjust policies.
Begin to birth new communities.
Dance a rhythm that dreams a new vision.
Envision a world beyond weapons, bars, and borders.
Reinvest in our future, instead of the military.

Celebrate and elevate the people of Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Native and Indigenous peoples and our communities through our love for art, music and dance!

Come together and say NO to war and YES to peace, justice and healing for all people.

Where bombs end, dreams begin! Let our words join worlds :)

Current mood:  loved
... how grateful we all felt for Saturday night. Many of you offered words of thanks and appreciation through out the night, it meant a lot to me however, it's not one or two people that make Inspiration what it is. It's all of us TOGETHER, each one of us has contributed a part of themselves to create what we experienced on Saturday. We all share the need to have a space where we can release ourselves with our bodies as an expression of our souls, and as each one of you joined the family new bonds and friendships emerged, the love grew and the message spread and we are today one family, one community, one nation under house.

There is something I'd like to share with you all that is very important to me and I hope to you all as well. It may be the love of dancing, house music or just music period that brought us all together and we are fortunate to have such a strong, diverse, beautiful family. Now imagine what we can do if we take our collective positive energy, vibration and love and channel it into projects that use music, art and dancing as a tool to raise consciousness about socio-economic, environmental, political, etc conditions that are affecting people worldwide as well as in our local communities. Because of the times we live in, we all are aware of this to some level (some more than others), what's happening is affecting all of us and that is actually a good thing because we are starting to understand and becoming more aware of how we are all connected and that the world really is a small place. We have more power than we realize, their is strength in numbers so we really can make a difference.
Keeping this intention as the foundation of our actions, we are stepping forward and planning accordingly, stay tuned for October 11th!

Ok now a moment of thanks and appreciation to each and every lovely soul that vibed with us last Saturday... Jose, you killed it! Loved the 6+ hour set, I don't know any other DJ that has the wide range of what you play while still maintaining flow and consistency. You're my favorite DJ PERIOD and I feel honored to have you in my life as a friend and partner. I'd like to welcome Ulysses to the Inspiration team, I know how much you all love our new home, the feedback has been great, well you have my boy Ulysses to thank for bringing us to Zen Sushi, next time you see this man please take a moment and thank him. Our new home was full of artists, dancers, musicians, poets, MCs, and blessed and gifted people from many scenes and communities. The beautiful Araceli (walking entity of love and light and amazing artist and jewelry maker), honored us with her presence and birthday celebration as well as her beautiful and talented artist friends, Daisy, Timoi, Delila, Virginia, and many others, hope you all enjoyed Inspiration and that you join us again soon! Much respect and props to all the womyn leaving smoke trails on the dance floor... Raquel, Wendy (Wenrock), Maria, Erin, Christina, Sara (Ms.Mighty), Amy (Catfox), Justine, Onisha, Julie, Sheryl (SheRawks), Kaitlin, Psychy, Tiffany, Betty and many more Inspiration-al womyn! Donna (D-Lock) we miss you and pray for your speedy recovery and know you will rock it with us soon! Can't leave the boyz out either, Meech (champion house dancer all the way from Paris), Angelo, Lare, Vinh, Darrell, Scotty, Jason, Marc, Ismail, Ritchie, B, Amrahu, Antonio, Jade, Ace, Yoshi, TK... we had a full house of amazing dancers period! And those of you who just groove in your little corner, we love you just as much! Estranjeros in da house always showin' us love as always, Mark Gonzalez, thanks for rolling through despite your long day and far drive home, Quese IMC thanks for vibin' with us all night long despite an early morning flight, Vibe Tribe & SD/OC house dance familia, we LOVE you! If I failed to mention your name forgive me and please know that you are loved by us and are part of our family and we appreciate each and every one of you just as much.
