We've all seen him around...Rockin out all alone...

His name is Philip and he's one of the most awesomest guys around!

You'll see him in front of almost every show and doesn't care about the world. To me, it looks like he only cares about the music...any music...

At most shows, he IS the crowd more than the crowd themselves.

Our teeny little scene need more people like him. It'd be a whole lot better.

He's holding it up alone...we gotta join him.

Here's to you Philip.

Dudes and Dudettes,...

you HAVE to listen to QuickQuickDanger at www.myspace.com/quickquickdanger. I'm blown away by the way these guys, younger than me(...at least one of them is for sure!...), can hit that groove nerve that i thought only people my age or older would appreciate. damn good and damn tight. been listening to them quite a bit...you should too!

look out! QUICKQUICKDANGER!

First off, thanks to the guys who organized the Nudge Show two weeks back and to the people who turned up/stayed through to the end. This may seem a little late for that but i write at the halfway point between what has been/should be two really cool shows.

Nudge rocked not because of the really nice venue...or the cool people who stayed...or the great bands who rocked the stage...or the great sound system provided by Luther Musicworks (Wink!)...or even that great Marshall JVM (...if you weren't there, you wouldn't know why...shame on you! hahaha!)...what made it good was the fact that every band that played was having fun. i try never to judge a show by how good the band plays because so many other bands already do...i judge it by how much they have fun playing. Most played off the great energy provided by the small but great crowd...

...THAT was FUN...

Now Baybeats...well...Baybeats has long been considered THE festival to play. But what bugs me is how Baybeats, despite being a big deal and a huge stepping stone for Singaporean Music, has been looked upon as something bigger than it is...yes, it's a big free event...yes, a lot of people willbe watching...yes, your band should be making an impression. but one thing that i realised a while back is that Baybeats is still just like any other show at the Esplanade. This should not stop you from having fun. And if you don't have fun at Baybeats whether you're playing or not, you have seriously been looking at it wrong...We will be playing at 7pm on Friday the 28th of August to whoever wants/will come. I ,personally, wanna have A LOT of fun. Coem down if you want in on the partay!

speaking of which, you should have seen CARACAL at Nudge...it would have encompassed everything i talked about...

So as i sit at my workplace typing my longest blognote ever BECAUSE i'm bored to my balls and not having fun now(...riding my bike, for example...), i thought about all the people that could flame me for saying what i said because of misinterpretation or because they have yet to remove/notice the stick up their "B-hinds", i pity them for looking at the negative side and not having fun!

have you guys tried Second Life? See the lake? It's flippin' REAL!

was a Michael Jackson one. i grew up listening to Off The Wall and Thriller and Bad. my very first CD was a Dangerous album, my first double CD was the History album. the first concert i remember watching was a Michael Jackson concert in Singapore. and a few months ago, i wrote the song Your Time Is Over, Our Time Is Now as an acknowledgment of MJ's influence on me - i tried to infuse his style of pop with WGB's approach to rock. MJ has been a huge part of my musical life.

RIP MJ. you were, and always will be, the King of Pop.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

I recently came back from a trip to Japan to play with Nothing to Declare (www.myspace.com/nothingtodeclare) doing bar tours and i'm telling you guys it was the shit! Yes it's expensive and all (parking's like $1.40 per 15 mins) but those who are thinking of going there shouldn't hesitate as it's a whole different world by itself. The people are polite, the bands are SUPER AWESOME and nice as well, food is great and it was cold as shit till i caught a fever (having a fever in 1 deg is not cool). Nonetheless i got to meet new people, listen to new music see how to set up their gigs which is really efficiently done and most bands bring their own amps and stuff. Really really amazing. Took the trains and stuff visited Kyoto's castle, ate raw chicken sashimi and stayed in the capsule hotel for 2 nights, and i'm telling you guys that's one experience you won't forget.

Well there's too much to say so if you do see me or meet me anywhere i'll be happy to tell you everything about my trip to the land of the rising sun. ANYWAYS,  we will be playing at the newly opened shopping mall Iluma (opposite Bugis Junction) on the 25th of April which is a Saturday at 3.15pm! Do come down to catch us we will be promoting this fashion brand called Mark Fairwhale and they have great stuff! See you there!
