Hello Music Fans!

It's that time again! We are looking for talented new singers to join UGA's Premier All-Female A Cappella Ensemble: Noteworthy!!! Don't be shy, and be sure to come out and show us what you've got!

***The important stuff:***
Q: When are the auditions?
A: Thursday, August 27, 2009

Q: What time are the auditions?
A: Come any time between 5:00pm-8:00pm

Q: Where should I go for the auditions?
A: We will be in the school of music, on the 3rd floor, in either room 304 or 308. Just look for the music stand outside the door with applications on it.

Q: What will the audition be like?
A: Don't be nervous! There are four parts that we ask of everyone auditioning.
1. We will warm you up by doing vocal exercises up and down the piano! This will let us get an idea of your range!
2. We will ask you to perform some tonal memory which is where we will play 3 notes, then 4 notes, then 5, and you will sing them back to us on whatever syllable you like!
3. There will be a short sight-reading passage that you will have 1 minute to practice and then sing back to us!
4. We ask that you prepare a short solo (verse and a chorus) of any song of your choice (we like everything from Disney to Broadway to Pop to Oldies to Jazz) and sing it to us a cappella. Easy enough right?

If you have any more questions, or want to know more about our group, you can visit one of our other websites for more information:

Hey Fans,

Noteworthy is holding their End of the Year New Member AUDITIONS on Thursday, April 23rd. Auditions will be held in the School of Music, Room 308, from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Anyone asked for a call-back will be asked to come back between 8:00pm-10:00pm that same evening to test for blending with the group and such. Any UGA Student is encouraged to audition so long as they love to sing and want 13 new best friends!!!

Auditions Primary Consist of:

Scales. Our Musical director will play up the piano keyboard and back down while you sing back to her on a neutral syllable. This exercise is to test your range.

Tonal Memory. We will play three notes then four then five and have you sing each set back to us on a neutral syllable.

Sigh-Reading. There will be a short two-line passage that we will ask you to study and then sing back to us. You will have a minute to practice, and you may sing it back using any method you are comfortable with (ex. solfeggi, numbers, "la")

Short Solo. You may choose any song you want to sing to us a cappella. We ask that you sing only one verse and a chorus, but we love everything from broadway to pop to oldies. Just make sure you choose a song that shows off your voice!

Be sure to keep your phone on you between 7:00-8:00pm in case we need to call you in for a call-back audition. These will be held from 8:00-10:00pm the same night, and we will test things like blending with the group, blending with other members of your part, etc.

Good Luck, and we hope to see all of you talented singers there!!!

Dear Noteworthy Fans,

For those of you who have not heard, NOTEWORTHY actually placed 2nd (right behind the UGA Accidentals) in the ICCA Regional Competition on Saturday, February 7th. After a disappointing Awards Ceremony in which Noteworthy was announced as not having placed in the top 3, a numerical error was caught on our Judges Score Sheets which bumped Noteworthy up to their rightful place of second in the competition. This means that the UGA Accidentals and UGA's Noteworthy will BOTH being traveling to UNC-Greensboro on March 14th to compete in the Nation-wide ICCA semi-final competition!!! We are so proud that our efforts and hard work paid off, and we couldn't ask for a better group to be accompanying us to the semi-finals than the ACCIDENTALS!!! UGA A CAPPELLA ROCKS!!! We hope you will make the mini-road trip to North Carolina on Saturday, March 14th to come support us, but if not, keep your fingers crossed and WISH US LUCK!!!
