So, I don't often log in here. Life being what it is (busy) and all. But I swing by today and I'm reminded of all the wonderful comments and kind words and emails. Too many to answer because it's been too long since I tried. I'm sorry about that - but I read them all and I am touched. THANK YOU!

Questions:

The 1 question seemed to be: would we tour. The answer is, sadly: that is highly, highly unlikely. I would love to and if Tara said "let's do it" I'd make it happen... but she has a life which is extremely busy as well, and a million other creative pursuits, musical and otherwise, so we can't realistically expect her to drop everything else for Black Happy Day. I wouldn't ask her because it's not fair anyway.

And of course I have my own creative pursuits outside of BHD, and my own obligations as well.

The other question seemed to be: will we make more BHD music. Plans are to do just that, yes. someday. We don't have any timeline on this, but we have discussed what we would like to do musically. So, someday.

In the meantime, go check out Tara's page here:

http://www.myspace.com/taravanflowermusic

Which she keeps updated regularly - and there she will tell you about all of her wonderful projects.

As for me: if you want to see HALF of Black Happy Day, I do tour with my band Crow Tongue. We're actively seeking shows, actually, and constantly recording. Please drop by and add us as a friend and, if you want to add a nifty Crow Tongue banner to your profile or website, the codes are below.

Crow Tongue is the new band of tiMOTHy (of Black Happy Day)...

The "Ditch Mix" series of eps are all limited edition and will surface at some frequency (collect 'em all) - so, to stay in the mix (bad pun, sorry): make sure to add Crow Tongue as a friend and see the Dark Holler • Hand/Eye website* (link below)...

hi kids! I'm forwarding this message that Timothy posted on the Dark Holler Mailing List! We're very excited by the release!

____________________________

We just received our copies of the Black Happy Day CD - it is up in the catalog section now. These are available from Dark Holler and Silber only until the end of August when they will be appearing in stores.

here's what the website says:
____________________________________________________________________
Black Happy Day is Tara VanFlower and Timothy Renner aka tiMOTHy, Revelator. Tara VanFlower comes from Lycia, and of course, from her own wonderful solo albums. Timothy's history includes Stone Breath, Mourning Cloak, and The Spectral Light & Moonshine Firefly Snakeoil Jamboree, among other projects.

"In the Garden of Ghostflowers" finds them achieving a nearly equal combination of their styles with elements of ambient and experimental music, acoustic and electronic music, homemade instruments and digital recording techniques all combining to make something that some have called "ambient old-time music." That description may be as accurate or inaccurate as any - everyone who hears this album seems to hear something different.

Certainly, both Tara and Timothy have brought elements of their past to play here. Tara's soundscapes, loops, and beautiful vocals spin throughout Timothy's more acoustic settings; while their mutual love of drones finds them comfortably fitting the pieces together in this sonic puzzlebox.

track listing:
1 The Leaves of Life 2 In the Garden of Ghostflowers 3 Whore 4 Edward 5 Of the Wind and Loneliness 6 How They Weep and Moan! 7 A Lyke Wake Dirge 8 How Many Hours 'til the Spider's Work is Done? 9 Wolf & Hare 10 Hand in Hand 11 Be Thou My Vision
____________________________________________________________________

We will likely be making limited edition t-shirts and sweatshirts featuring the drawing I did for the cover (it's a rabbit sitting inside the skeleton of a wolf) and the Black happy Day text - half of the drawing is on the front cover of the CD (which you can see in the catalog section) - the rest wraps around to the inside booklet on the CD so you can't see all of it there. I think the entire image is on the Black Happy Day MySpace profile. When we get closer to making them, we'll email this list again with a chance to pre-order. We will probably only make a few more than we have pre-orders for, much like we did with the Hand/Eye hooded sweatshirts a couple years back. We get requests for those Hand/Eye sweatshirts to this day, so...

Our CD album, In the Garden of Ghostflowers, will be available soon from Silber and also Dark Holler mailorder. It will hit stores and other mailorders in late August. This album is a selection of originals and traditional songs which has been described as "ambient/experimental old-time music."

track listing:
1 The Leaves of Life
2 In the Garden of Ghostflowers
3 Whore
4 Edward
5 Of the Wind and Lonliness
6 How They Weep and Moan!
7 A Lyke Wake Dirge
8 How Many Hours 'til the Spider's Work is Done?
9 Wolf & Hare
10 Hand in Hand
11 Be Thou My Vision

We will also likely be doing t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts featuring the cover image (it's the drawing of the rabbit inside a wolf skeleton in our images section) and Black Happy Day text, but we're only making a handfull, so the best way to get one is to pre-order them. How do you do that? Contact us here or contact Dark Holler mailorder via orders@somedarkholler.com and let us or them know you are interested. Once we get an idea of how many we need to make, we'll know what the prices will be and we will get back in touch so you can pre-order.

let's sit in the middle of the field / let's run through the pines tall, green grass kissing our limbs / red needles pricking our feet we sway as the wind moves us / hiding behind the trees there like the swaying of tide and moon / like the moon hides from the sun our skin melts into wet puddles on the thickly scented ground / and falling when we tire the sun conforms to our bodies making us numb / our backs upon the earthbed let me lay beside you / we dare not move for now our faces even and close / let me see your teeth your legs stretched far beyond mine / let me hear your breath your hair in mine twisting like honeysuckle vines / let me smell your skin we grow together / we are a braid combined into one being / we are a knot let my skin be your skin / of teeth and skin and hair your mouth my mouth / our eyes both see now in and out i'm small enough to fit inside you / a world in a grain of sand i will orchestrate your movements / i feel your pull on me your blood will feed me / i give myself to you your heart will protect / i hold you within me let me sleep in your stomach / and tell you night is near you are warm like fresh syrup dripping from an autumn tree / the darkness steals your color separate again / come back look into our eyes / look into our eyes do you remember me inside you? / do you remember what you saw? the moon hardens our bodies / tell me the tale again the stars tickle our skin / about the time we'll swim in our memory / when the moon caught the sun

Current mood:  creative
O this garden is forgotten, Both fallow and forsaken: Lost to the waking mind And the memories of most But winding in the weeds And grasses gone to seed Are the strangest little flowers That I have ever seen. And thorn-pricked memories Swim down the bloodied stem And ride the warm red stream To drip upon the soil. O these strange pale flowers Have counted every hour For memories to bloom As each one is a ghost.

hello, seems most of the folks on the friends list come from Tara's direction, so I wanted to introduce myself... I'm Timothy. Tara is my friend. Black Happy Day is our band. I'm not going to try to describe BHD. We're both really happy and excited about the music. It sounds like us. I come from Stone Breath, which you will find in the friends section of the BHD page...and for those who wander in from the Stone Breath direction... Tara is from Tara (see also friends section) and from Lycia (again, friends section). Anyway, cross-friend us at will. sing. T(imothy)
