So, I want everyone to listen to my new song and let me know what you think. It's about my grandparents...everything they went through, the way they stuck it out together, and all the life that has come from that. I love them so much! Anyway, it's kind of a different sound for me...a little bit of an experiment. So, let me know what you think! Peace! ~KP

Where do I begin to begin? Let's just call this a brief essay on: cultural identity, winning, losing, and growing up.

A few months ago I made a move I never could have imagined myself making. I am currently living in Ohio...quite a hop, skip, and a jump away from Bayou Country. I can't believe we're almost a week into Lent and I haven't had crawfish yet! Mardi Gras came and went and I didn't see one parade. My parents came to visit and I almost cried over my dad's roast and rice and gravy. It's a different world up here. Did I mention I'm engaged?...to a New Yorker, at that! A New Yorker whose family is like "My Cousin Vinny/ The Godfather" Italian...like Italian in the sense that he has cousins who are actually named Mario and Luigi. I never knew there was anything wrong with Ragu spaghetti sauce (don't ever tell an Italian if you eat it). But, the moral of that story is no matter how many plans you make for yourself, God is going to find a way to surprise you. It feels like my life really is turning into some big adventure and every detail really is in God's hands now.

I never thought I would have a bed with a comforter that is mine in a place this far away from home. I wasn't sure how the Lord was going to unfold the details of my vocation. But, it's all been part of an adventure that I truly, truly love. I love not knowing what will happen next. My goal in life is to live by a river somewhere and sing songs on a front porch everyday. Getting there is going to be sooooo fun. The good news: I am back in the Great State next week. Can't wait to see some of yall there! Crawfish, anyone??? ~KP

Well, I've been all over the Great State of Louisiana this past month or so. I don't care what anyone says, I think it is sooooo beautiful. Then last weekend I got to hang out with all the cool and crazy people at NCYC in Columbus, OH. It was pretty cool. Always good to catch up with friends and make some new ones too :-) And now I am in Nashville, TN! I always forget how pretty it is here too and how nice the people are. All this to say that I still feel like a singing gypsie and I want yall to pray pray pray for me as I go. Pray for my ministry and my vocation. Pray that I would stay close to His heart! Love yall big and hope all is well! Peace Out! ~KP

So I didn't do the best job of giving you the tour play-by-play. But, let me just say: it was incredible. It was so awesome to be in so many different places throughout the country watching God move in His people everywhere. I want to thank each and every one of you who came out for a night and also those who kept up with us online and offered prayer and support. WE APPRECIATE YOU! It was really sad when it was all over. I miss our on-the-road family a LOT. But, no worries...a second round is very likely. So, pray for that and if you'd like to have a 2097 night in your town, talk to a pastor, youth director, campus minister in your area and contact us. Right now I am in my apartment watching Bruce Springsteen on The Today Show and I can't help but think about Kurt (our 2097 lighting guy) and "keeping time from behind". If you went to one of the later nights on the tour, you'll know what I mean. If not, try to catch some video of Bruce tapping his foot behind him on stage in order to keep time to a song...and go ahead and work that into your daily routine. It'll do ya some good. And this Tuesday night, I'll be hanging out with all those crazy kids from LSU at Christ the King Catholic Church on campus. It's a worship night starting at 8pm. If you happen to be in Tiger Town, come on by! Hope all is well in your worlds. Keep praying for me please. And just keep seeking Jesus who is faithfully loving you even now! Peace to you, my friends! ~KP

As promised, here are updates from the road. The 2097/Adore tour is rolling right along. We did Hanover, Mass. and North Canton, Ohio. Both were great. I loved the accents in Hanover. Everyone sounded like the "Coffee Talk" lady from the SNL skit. Ohio was a blast. It was great to see friends from Franciscan. Thanks for coming out, guys! We had a free day yesterday and now we are exploring the beautiful city of Chicago. Tomorrow night is Lexington, Kentucky. Our bus driver, Tom, is really the man of the hour. He is just a stud...no way around it. As for the bus, let me just tell you this one quick story. Two mornings ago, we (all twelve of us) were stashed away in our bunks when we woke up to find that we were trapped in the middle compartment of the bus. The bunks are there with automatic doors leading to the front and back lounges. A for some reason, the doors didn't so much feel like opening that day. Keep in mind that this is a very confined space...a little like a refrigerator box. It was a good ten minutes before Tom saved our lives. I thought I was in that scene from "Annie" where Ms. Hannigan locks the orphans in the closet. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness...

Go to www.lifeteenblog.com for photos and video from the road. And I'll be back with more. Thanks for prayers and support! We love yall!! ~KP

Well it's 2:41 pm in Williamsburg, VA and we're getting ready for our first show on the 2097/Adore Tour. It's a really cool night of worship and prayer with myself, Matt Maher, Josh Blakesley, and Paul George. I am soooo excited and blessed to be a part of it. I'm gonna be putting up some photos and keeping this blog updated with notes from the road. This is a pretty new experience for most of us. Getting on the bus in the Kroger parking lot in Nashville felt like getting on the bus to go to kindergarten. It has all been very surreal. You should see us all in our bunks. Keep in mind that there are 12 of us on this thing. Go to lifeteen.com for more updates on the tour. The low point so far was definitely this morning in mass when my cell phone alarm starting going off and I couldn't find it in the bottom of my purse. Paul started coughing ridiculously loud in an attempt to defer everyone's attention from the crazy girl on her hands and knees in church digging through a bottomless bag hissing about not being able to find it anywhere...you should have seen the hawk-eye the old man in the next pew was giving me. Sorry, Mister...~kp

First, thanks so much for prayer and support. Believe me, we have felt it!! Big hugs from my family, yall!

The news is that the baby does have this syndrome called Griscelli. It's basically a really dangerous immunodeficiency. So, he does need a bone marrow transplant. That will help him to stay healthy. We aren't sure yet about a match, but we should know soon. It's a pretty big ordeal so please keep praying.

I know that God is in this. I have loved the scriptures and words of encouragement I have received from so many of God's people. Know that I am praying for you! Love! ~kp

Current mood:  hopeful
So, it's been a while...I never claimed to be the master blogger. Forgive me, please! If you've looked at my albums, you know what's been happenin in my neck of the woods. It has been an amazing summer. I have had some extraordinary times of prayer with young people, friends, and family from around the country. God is so good. I am always overwhelmed by the amazing people He has placed in my life to show me His love and mercy...the reality of who He is. I think of Fr. Dave Pivonka and Bishop Sam Jacobs, just to name a few. I think of teens I have met this summer in Louisiana, Georgia, Indiana...people of God serving His people and loving me with Christ's love. We are all so so so blessed.

As of this moment, I am in a place I never expected to be and this is where the blog takes a serious turn and you get commissioned into a real call to prayer. My nephew, Alexander, is a year old. He has some major health issues and in the past year several diagnoses have been thrown around. We are here at the University Medical Center in Minnesota where he is seeing several specialists. The latest idea is that he could have a freakishly rare thing called Griscelli Syndrome. He has to have a bone marrow transplant. So, we are here, waiting to be tested, praying to find a match. Just pray for him, for his mom and brothers also. What has been resting in my heart throughout this whole thing is the scripture:

"then you shall know that I am the Lord, and those who hope in me shall never be disappointed." -Isaiah 49:23.

I really believe that to be true. I believe that for my life and yours as well. We can't ever lose our hope in God who has promised life to His people. I am praying for you and will keep everyone posted. PEACE! ~kp

Who I Am

Today, June 19 of the year 2007, my favorite jeans...RIPPED!!! DUH NUH NUH (the scary melody in Brack's voice from Space Ghost).

Hear the history: I got these jeans when I was about 17. They are the wide-legged Mudd jeans with the frayed waist-line...no belt loops. Apparently having a pair of these was really important back in 02. As time went on, these jeans proved to be my favorite. They grew to be soft and loose...almost like your favorite pair of sweats...only cuter. They look great with flats and flip-flops, not really the jeans you would wear with heels. That in itself explains their character. They are the jeans that go with your favorite t-shirt or your old soccer hoodie. The jeans grew to be so soft that they started wearing down in a couple spots. And today...oh day of all days...the worn down spot on my left knee developed into a full fledged rip.

Here's the thing: I'm not opposed to ripped jeans. I own a pair. The startling reality of this experience is that what my jeans once were, they will never be again. In short, and to sum it up in a line: the winds of change are blowing and we are all turning in to something new. Exciting, yet scary...hang on for the ride. Peace. ~KP
