We have started recording and after 2 evenings(3-4 hours each) of basic tracks(drums, bass, electric guitar & acoustic guitar) we have finished 8 songs! I put down the lead vocals Saturday on all 8 songs and we are tracking some more basic tracks tonight and Thursday. We are flying through these songs as we know them pretty well at this point. We have about six songs to go and will probably choose the best 12 songs for the record.

The Ancient Sons
The Dark Gospel
No Chance In Hell Records
With a quiet, sprawling aesthetic and lyrics thick with religious reference, Sacramento's the Ancient Sons are often mentioned in the same breath as Brian Jonestown Massacre. But The Dark Gospel's country-tinged indie rock is decidedly less modern than BJM (a mellowed version of the Byrds, perhaps?). Songs like "Hang on to Jesus" and "In the Night"—with lush harmony and an airy jangle—are majestic, while Chris Teichman's vocals reach angelic levels of sweetness but are capable of murky gloom ("The Ghostwriter"). Matt Maxwell's keys with Mike Farrell's guitar stand out with expertly placed subtlety, rendering The Dark Gospel, with its deliberate aura of ease, a deceptively complex work of art. Fun show last night! Th Losin' Streaks rocked it the hardest hands down. An Angle were great and The Evening Episode sounded and looked sweet on the big screen. I want to play the Crest someday too! The Ancient Sons lost in the Pop category to the wonderful Agent Ribbons. They worked a lot harder than most bands around here, so good choice all around. The good news is we did win the Critic's choice award for Sacramento's Best New Artist! Can't wait to see the actual award as they packed them up hastily before we could get it. Also, the sound on the big screen gave out a few minutes before our little acceptance video aired. That sucked it! I did'nt stick around to actually see it re-ran after the show was over. The Snobs played the after party at Marilyn's and won best Rock band and also got the record contract from the Track Shack. I love those guys, so props to them. Great times babies..........
