"Picture Ping Pong" is a group exhibition organized by Brooklyn-based artist Elizabeth Huey. This exhibition runs from 2/1/07 – 3/31/07 at Quality Pictures in Portland, Oregon. It features the work of sixteen artists (Picture Ping Pong's top friends!) who post drawings, photos, inspiring messages and who-knows-whats on each other's MySpace pages. To "picture ping pong" is to visually converse and play through sharing images.

This exhibition represents only a sampling - an attempt to make an objective cross-section of the visual discourse - and represents a small fraction of the artistic activity taking place on MySpace. Most of the 16 artists have only met online and continue to interact almost exclusively via the Internet.

The artists are not a collective. Included are artists from Europe, Canada and the United States. The majority of the artists are working on larger projects from television shows and puppet theaters to large-scale paintings and feature-length films. Most of the artists are also deeply entrenched in other real-life communities.

At the gallery, the exhibit consists of about 80 works including video, collage, drawing and painting. Video works will be displayed in the gallery's new video lounge. There is a computer set up at the gallery so visitors can view this page as well as the pages of the participating artists.

The exhibition is innovative and attempts to reveal uses of technology by artists in ways that at one level recall the artist communities that were more prevalent in earlier decades, such as the New York school of the 40s and 50s. Further, it points out that while the artists use technology heavily to communicate and find inspiration for their work, most of the artists create work in a very low-tech, hands-on fashion.

Finally, MySpace has become a space for artists to communicate with each other in ways that are less limiting than traditional language such as through images and sound.
