Our new label, 307 Knox Records has put together an incredible benefit concert for Alex Nathan, at the Pinhook in Durham, NC, on Wednesday February 18. A letter from Melissa and Alicia of 307 Knox is below. Please come out to this event, visit the site, show your support! Also, be sure to check out the LIVEtab on our site for chances to check us out, and to hear material from our upcoming record! Hi Everyone, We wanted to reach out to you all and ask for your help as we fund raise for our friend, Alex Nathan. We met Alex last year and quickly realized how much we had in common - we all loved local music, film and our community. Alex has filmed several bands on the label and is also working on a documentary of the 2008 Troika Music Festival. He continues to support our efforts as we release and support music. Since getting to know Alex, we also learned he has stage four cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma. We were all pretty upset when we found out. However we all realized very quickly, just as we realized our common likes, that this was just a bump – a small (yet significant) slow down - but that all the plans and ideas we have are moving forward. (the films, the music, the festival(s), the events and the friendship) We are pulling together to help Alex with the simple necessities in life, so we put up a donation page on our website. We are hoping to help Alex with his phone bill, food, etc. -just the day to day stuff while he can not work. He has a list. A list of things he would like to do and we have put some of his things on our list because well, we have one too. I hope we all do. His list includes some pretty simple things and some of those things have already happened. How cool is that? We hope to help him cross more things off his list. As each person donates we will contact them with a confirmation and share the donation information with Alex. All the funds go directly to Alex along with the proceeds to a fund raiser show we have organized with The Midtown Dickens on February 18th at 8:00 pm at the Pinhook inDurham, NC. The Midtown Dickens, The Dirty Little Heaters, Jews and Catholicss, The Pneurotics, Tea and Tempest and so much more...... $5.00 at the door (more if you can!). You can find the link HERE Show details will continue to come as well as other great events! Thank you for all of the continued support, Melissa and Alicia "I truly believe that if I keep fighting and surrounding myself with positive energy and love that I can beat this." ~~~~~ Alex Nathan

Happy New Year friends! Jews and Catholics started the year on different continents. Alanna is currently in Israel, which is amazing and crazy and just impeccably timed. She's doing well and is having an incredible experience. Eddie is in Winston-Salem- have you heard of this place? Its nuts! You really have to check it out, its where cigarettes got awesome! Its not the witch trial place though, that was a little disappointing. As soon as Alanna gets back we will continue work on our new material, all which will come together to become our next album, which will be released via 307 Knox Records. We're super excited to be working with these fine Durham based folks. We'll keep you updated on the progress right here and at JewsandCatholics.com . We have two shows in February coming up, the 18th at Pinhook in Durham, and the 27th at Elliott's Revue in Winston-Salem. We should have much more booked in the spring and summer- stay tuned! Oh. and just a reminder, if you live here in Winston Salem, you can purchase God's Trash or Inside at Borders and Record Exchange. If you live elsewhere, all online retailers have us, and you can get freebies at JewsandCatholics.com.

April has been a very exciting month for the Jews and Catholics. We've released a new CD, have had some internet radio plays, a great interview, featured in local media, and are on an amazing compilation In detail:
Inside
Our "Inside" CD release party was amazing! Thanks so much to The Bastards of Fate and Illbotz, and to everyone who came out on a Wednesday night! Those of you that have purchased the CD and left your address to receive the "factory" disc should see something in your mailbox really soon, along with a little surprise. The EP should soon be available on iTunes, eMusic, Amazon, etc. In Winston-Salem it will be available at Edward McKay Used Books and More, Record Exchange, and Borders in the next few weeks. We will also make it available to purchase directly from us on this site, as well as the whyisthissitenotliveyetwemustbecrazy website http://www.jewsandcatholics.com if we ever get it running...
Breakthru Radio
We have been getting lots of plays on Jezz Harkin's show Get Into the Van the past few weeks, and on this week's episode we had a really fun interview with him. Jezz spun five of our tracks, and talked to us about all things Jewish, Catholic, as well as getting our input on what its like to be in a band doing it all yourself in 2008. Click on the link to his blog, and you can download the podcast. BTW, if you love music, and are looking for great new music, spend some time checking out the shows on Breakthru Radio, they're pretty outstanding (the ones we listened to at least)
YES! Weekly
We are the band of the week for 4/23/08! Pick up a free copy practically anywhere in the Triad and beyond, and (possibly) check it online, though I couldn't find it yet at YES! Weekly
Relish
Our new disc is reviewed this week (4/24) in Winston Salem Jounal's Relish Here is a copy if you don't want to make the jump:
Jews and Catholics Inside Label: None If you like: Progressive, provocative music for the future Song to download: "Visitor" The four-song Inside is less a stop-gap EP for Jews and Catholics — a Winston-Salem duo that released last year's amazing God's Trash album — than it is a creative update by the most inventive band in town. Jews and Catholics is a duo — Eddie Garcia on guitars, electronics and programming and Alanna Meltzer on acoustic bass — that sounds like a band, thanks to Garcia's progressive skills as a programmer and Meltzer's willingness to alter the sound of her bass. Their combined ingenuity creates fresh textures that add to a dense but dynamic sound of epic proportions. Meltzer's distorted bowed bass adds sinister undertone to melodies that stick without sounding familiar. Originality rules with this band — even when re-envisioning a track from its debut album. In all, Inside continues to display a keen balance between the ethereal and the earthy, finding tension and beauty within mish-mashes of discordance and astute playing to construct songs that attract without playing to the obvious. — Ed Bumgardner relish staff writer ...Thanks Ed! Wooden Anniversary We have the honor of being featured on an amazing compilation featuring in-studio performances from WUAG. It is called WUAG 103.1 Presents Wooden Anniversary and is available HERE Track Listing: 1. 31 Knots "Sanctify" 2. Pterodactyl "Three Succeed" 3. David Karsten Daniels "How to Turn to Stone" 4. Invisible "Hellicopters like Disco Balls" 5. By The End of Tonight "Jealous of a Ghost" 6. Hammer No More the Fingers "Bossman" 7. Lymbyc Systym "Truth Skull" 8. Blonde Redhead "23" 9. Glissade "Distant Tidal (Edit)" 10. Solid Gold "She Hit Me In the Moonlight" 11. Paleface "Dancin' Daze" 12. Damien Jurado "Ghost of David" 13. Jews & Catholics "Ambulance" 14. Tartufi "R.I.P.M.O.O.N. (Spring '07 Tour Version)" ...yes, Blonde Redhead. Our track "Ambulance" is not available anywhere else at this moment, so you really should pick one up...oh, and we are pretty happy about this
Last but not least, thank you to every band we've played with this month, and apologies to anyone planning to see us at the Renewable Energy Festival at NCSU on 4/25- its going to be a great show, and we encourage everyone to attend, and chant "WE WANT JEWS AND CATHOLICS" as loud as fucking possible!
More to come from Alanna and Eddie...stay tuned!

WUNC Broadcast Rescheduled
Due to some communication errors, our broadcast on the State of Things did not air Friday as orginally stated in previous bulletins/emails/blogs. We have been rescheduled for Friday Jan. 25 , same time and stations. Thanks so much to those who tuned in- we are not the band who cried wolf, just the band who misunderstood a few things, and who are a minor technical tragedy. But tonight....Snug Harbor in Charlotte....us and Silent Weapons are playing a show. This will be our last show until April 2nd- so if you need your fix, which I think you might, you need to get your booty to Charlotte to shake and shimmy with us.
Love, Eddie and Alanna
