The Birthday Song! Yay!
Originally this song was recorded to perform at Wilson’s Sweet Sixteen birthday party. Sorry for the late post, it’s been a pretty hectic semester here at Texas State. Grad School is rough, but I’m making it. Anyway, this song was recorded at Juniors house in Grand Prarie. Derek and I had a GREAT time finding our way over there with the GPS! haha! We even stoped at KRYSTAL’S to get some of those cute little tiny burgers. Good times! I had fun recording in Junior’s closet/studio! ;) And the end was the best part to record. Hope you liked it Wilson! This one’s for you.

So it's Cory's Birthday today and we came to Austin to finish recording the song Heartbreak. We haven't recorded in a long time, so it took some time to get back in the swing of things. We have a new studio, that is now located in Jester dormatory instead of Moore Hill, due to some air conditioning problems in Andrew and Junior's new room. But Derek's room is pretty big and pretty cool. We had a big party at recording today, not only was the birthday boy present, but my sister Andie dropped by, Andrew came in, two of Derek's roommates stopped by the room, and of course Derek, Junior, and I. It got pretty crowded in there. It was Cory's first time to watch the recording process and he had some good feedback about it. He liked it alot and was singing the song all day. He knows all the lyrics now! Now, about the song...Heartbreak. First of all this song is dedicated to Adrienne, derek's roommate, because he gave me some water. (So shout out to him!) Sorry we have do dedicate such a sad song to you! K back to the song..... This is a depressing song because we all know what it's like to feel that heartbreak. This one is cool because I got to get in on the writting process, by accident. (And I almost had an accident trying to write them down while driving on 1-35! haha!) Some lyrics just came to me and they made it into the song. I think I'm gonna work with Derek more on the writting process and get my own songs out there. Hopefully you'll like this one. Let me know what you think about the song... "Heartbreak." <3 ~ Cherie

"Picture Perfect" was recorded in a few different sessions, actually. Towards the end of the spring semester Junior started getting busy with all of his engineering classes, Derek with all of his classes, and me with graduation, so even though we have alot of songs to record, we didn't have alot of time to record them. So we recorded this song one verse at a time. We had a couple of guests join us depending on the night and had alot of fun each time we had a recording session. We finished recording in the last week of classes, but we had final exams, moving out of moore hill and graduation to worry about so we didn't get it mixed until now. It's kinda sad that we're out of Moore Hill for the summer. I'm gonna miss it! I really like this song because I feel like Derek really wrote it for me. Even though I don't write the lyrics to these songs, I feel like this one is the one that really sounds like what I would write. Listen to "Picture Perfect" and let me know what you think! ;)

We first started recording "Float Away" on Wednesday January 31st. We were acting silly as usual and we recorded some of our playing around time when I decided to pick up Andrew's guitar and play "The Pick Song", a song I wrote when I was 13 years old. It was a good time, but we weren't finished. We knew "Float Away" needed a little something extra so we asked miss Pamelagrace to sing back up vocals on the chorus on the night of February 12th and she gave it the magic touch! It sounds beautiful! This song goes out to my new baby cousin, Allesandra, because we finished it on the day she was born. Listen to "Float Away" and let me know what you think! *CheRie*

Another fun recording with the boys! This time we were acting so silly. Andrew kept gettin in my face so I had to show him what was up! Junior was just doin his thing. Derek fell asleep while we were recording and we made fun of him. He was tired and had to walk all the way to Duren afterwards, so I felt bad for singing really loud in his face while he was getting his nap on. Sorry Derek! Beauty Personified goes out to all the lovers on Valentine's Day! Have a good one! Listen to Beauty Personified and let me know what you think! *CheRie*

We recorded "Holdin Back" on two separate dates. The guys did their part on Thursday December 7th and then I finished with my part on December 10th. We had alot of fun recording this one. It was just funny. I kept eating crackers and running to the restroom because I was drinking too much water. Junior and Derek were dancing 80's style. Andrew was making random comments as usual. And every once and a while we'd pause to watch Mariah or Ciarra on late night BET. I was on-call again so I'm lucky nothing much went down at Moore Hill that night. This song was made to be the last song on our album. It fits perfectly there. It's definitely a clubin song! Let me know what you think of "Holdin Back." ;)

"Written" was recorded on Friday November 10th in Moore Hill Dormatory "Studio 326" while I was on-call for my RA job. Being on call means that I have to stay in the building for 24 hours in case something were to happen. So you could say I used my "in the building" time wisely. We recorded for a few hours. This time we felt more comfortable recording since it was our fourth time. It was alot more fun! After we recorded we all went over to Wendy's in Jester to eat and have a good time! Listen to "Written" and let me know what you think. Enjoy!

P.S. Here's a video of me singing "Written" at Texas Latin Dance's Global meltdown! It was the first time I sang it live on stage...

"Could This Be Love" is the third song to be recorded by Royal Flush and I. This song had a more somber tone, so we couldn't play around as much. I like this song because it sends a good message to those getting out of an abusive relationship. In my own words I call it a VAV song. I'm a member of Voices Against Violence peer theater group here on the UT campus and we use the term VAV to describe anything that relates to the work that we do weather its in good or bad way. I feel like this song is depressing, but it has a good message at the end. Listen to "Could this be Love" and tell me what you think.

"Forever Love" was recorded on Wednessday October 18th in Junior and Andrew's dorm room which we now call studio 326. I remember it rained really hard that night and I came in soaking wet (even though I had an umbrella) after singing with Ransom Notes for the first time and then working an Orientation Info session. I was tired, but not tired enough to record. "Sweatin You" had alot of success when we took the CD home and debuted it at our Texas vs. OU party as well as some sucess on MySpace, so we were very excited to record a second song. All of us really liked this song going into recording. Derek describes the song as "baby makin music" and I'm going to have to agree with him on that one because it has one of those beats! Junior says it's his favorite song and so far this is my favorite song that we have recorded! I love it! And of course I dedicate it to my boyfriend Cory! (Shout out to Cory, love you!) It's just the perfect song for that! Like it says in the song... it goes out to all the lovers! And you know what I mean! ;) Listen to "Forever Love" and let me know what you think! Thanks for Listening!

We recorded "Sweatin You" in Andrew and Junior's dorm room on Wednessday October 4th in the late evening, early morning hours. We took some video of our recording session, which you can find on my videos. We had alot of fun recording! There were lots of laughs, lots of fun and lots of pictures thanks to my sister, Andie. I was so excited to finally record an original song for the first time! The song features a rap from Royale of the DSC. DSC is on my top 4 so listen to their stuff if you like what you hear in "Sweatin' You." I was so surprised to hear that Royale, is Junior's 15 year old brother! Wow! He's awesome; so young and talented! This song is for all of the ladies out there, and gentlemen, who are ready to let go of that person that you know is no good for you. It's a great song to listen to on a girls night out to the club or just cruisin' in the car. Listen to "Sweatin' You" and let me know what you think. Thanks for Listening!
