Over the Fall, I think we successfully musically bonded, and we gelled new songs nicely together while learning a few covers. We played around Gainesville, Ocala, and Tampa and got a head-start on recording with "Working Title" already up. Check it out :)

We kick off the Spring playing a FREE show January 15th at the Orange and Brew on the UF campus and then help out New Orleans hurricane victims with a Benefit Show on February 5th. We might make an appearance at the annual Violence Against Girls is Not Acceptable (V.A.G.I.N.A.) Festival and we're working on booking a show at New College again!

Of course, random awesome gigs will pop up here and there, so be on the look out at our calendar. Especially for when we finish recording and have our CD release party!

May there be peace, love, guitars, bonfires, candy and fun in your future <3

We have a few new updates since the last blog!

1) We've gained a 5th member named Wade, who rocks on guitar, melodica, bass and vocals. He can even play the drums for when Brett gets tired and wants to go get a beer.

2) Quinn is building a robot with his friend and we're going to try the finished, yet to be named, robot on the xylophone. How funny will it be to sound check the little guy? Any suggestions on the name?

3) We're thinking about taking up an offer to play on the NooMoon Stage at Voodoo Fest this year, but it may be hard since the GoGirls Halloween Fest in Atlanta in right in the middle of Voodoo Fest.

4) We're going to try to have a free demo of the new line-up to give to everybody by October. Throughout the Fall, we'll be working on a full-length CD to promote when we go on tour for Spring Break.

I think that's pretty much all the major news for now. Oh, and we hope to host some pretty fun after-parties this year too. You're all invited!

Also, we hope to hang out with all you Gainesville-ians on August 29th 8PM at the Downtown Plaza. It's a free show and it's going to be fun! ..

Following the departure of beloved Tyler and Hunter, Sweet City Action set out to find new musicians to continue their legacy. Brett Bowers is the band's new drummer, and Quinn Martin will complete the 4-some with his synthesizer and guitar.

Summer plans include: Lots of song-writing and band rebuilding. Plans for recording new myspace tracks are in the works. Stay tuned for this new phase of Sweet City Action!

They hope you will check them out in August at the Downtown Plaza.

Sweet City Action for 7 gigs in 9 days of awesomeness.  Here’s my (Vilma’s) short and sweet version copied and pasted from my livejournal.

We scored a gig on 6th Street at Spill right in the middle of SXSW action. And sweet talked our way into a PureVolume party where we saw Portugal The Man play and talked to Band Marino. And the GoGirls showcase in Austin went well too despite some technical difficulties!

So, we lucked out in Panama City and met some awesome people to hang out with the next day. Bumpas let us stay in his guest house about 50 yards from his main house right on the beach. I loved taking a nap in the hammock staring at the glittering ocean!

Then in Pascagoula, Hunter and I took a walk around a neighborhood and jumped a fence into a playground. I tore a hole in my jeans, had to pee in a bush and played on this weird stand-up seesaw. Here’s a picture from the Pascagoula gig:

Also worth mentioning, we playing South by Due East in Houston and were videotaped for potential footage in indie films. A model from NYC liked us, so she interviewed us and will post it on her Web site. Here’s a picture in Houston:

Can’t forget spending an awesome night in New Orleans walking around Bourbon Street!

hunter's arm is healed up, and we're back to our normal hectic show schedule beginning jan. 11th at 1982 bar!

we've decided to spend this year's spring break on our very first mini-tour, starting at backstage lounge on march 6th, and then making our way along the gulf coast to austin, TX, where we may or may not be playing at South by Southwest. if we don't get accepted initially, then we plan on going bar to bar picking up cancellations. either way, it's going to be an awesome week :)

in other news... provided we have the time and money, we will be recording our first full-length album which would hopefully be released some time near the start of summer. stay tuned!
