We regret to inform everyone that Mesina and PJ have parted ways. There's no bad blood, we wish him well, and the show must go on, as they say.

As for Billy and I, the album will be finished, the band will be whole and we will be putting out a bunch more new music...all before the end of the year.

peace,

-Jesse

New Hope's Mesina to headline Battle of Bands
http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/news_details/article/182/2009/august/25/new-hopes-mesina-to-headline-battle-of-bands-1.html

The New Hope-based hard rock band Mesina will headline the 10th annual Battle of the Bands, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at the TD Bank Amphitheater at 2400 Byberry Road in Bensalem.
The free event, presented by Calkins Media's reality section, is co-sponsored by the Best Buy Musical Instruments Store in Oxford Valley and the R&M Music Studios in Langhorne.
Ten high school- and college-aged bands will perform 20-minute sets of all-original music while competing for prizes and area bragging rights.
The competition will get under way at 3:30 p.m.
The night will be capped by a performance by Mesina, which will take the stage around 8:30.
The band, which formed about two years ago, consists of singer/guitarist Billy Marshall, bassist PJ Plastino and drummer Jesse Petas. The quartet has toured the East Coast from Philadelphia to Miami, sharing stages with national acts as varied as The Misfits, Type O Negative, Dope and ASG.
According to the band, its influences range from Led Zeppelin to Fugazi to Tool.
Mesina's self-produced debut album, "For Your Consideration," will be released in September. The band also has a song included on the WMMR Local Shots 6 CD, due out Sept. 10.

MESINA TAKES ITS ROCK MUSIC SERIOUSLY

By ANDY VINEBERG
Staff writer
T
here’s nothing fancy or glitzy about the band Mesina. For the New Hope-based outfit, it’s just about delivering intelligent, gut-busting hard rock music as passionately as possible.
“We’re energetic, we try to be engaging, but we’re not flashy showmen,” singer/guitarist Billy Marshall says. “It’s less about what everything looks like than if it feels right.”
Or, as WMMR DJ Jaxon said about the band’s song “Awake,” over the air: “How badass is that riff?”
Make no mistake - these guys generate plenty of heat with their music.
Mesina, which headlines reality’s 10th annual Battle of the Bands Saturday at the TD Bank Amphitheater in Bensalem, has been together about two and a half years, gaining plenty of support along the way despite using little to market itself besides the music.
“Everything we’ve done has gotten an extremely good reaction,” Marshall, 31, says. “And most of what’s happened for us has been without pulling any special strings. It’s happened on its own, which is the most gratifying way.”
The band, which also includes bassist P.J. Plastino and drummer Jesse Petas, has had occasional bumps, such as the sudden, recent departure of its second guitarist. (Scott Steege, who played with Mesina a couple of years ago, will fill in while the band searches for a permanent replacement).
But mostly, it’s been all good - shows opening for Type-O Negative and the Misfits at Crocodile Rock in Allentown, spending time on the road and, most recently, earning a spot on WMMR’s “Local Shots 6″ CD and playing a release party for the disc with 15 other bands Sept. 10 at the Blockley in University City.
“I went to the WMMR Local Shots CD release last year, and I turned to P.J. and said, ‘Next year, we’re going to be on that CD,’ and we were,” Marshall says. “And we didn’t do it by pulling strings. We did it on the strength of the songs.”
You can check out Mesina’s songs on its Web site: www.mesinaband.com. The band’s upcoming album, “For Your Consideration,” will be released later this fall.

Fade

Tomorrow, when day breaks through
A revelation when it's all renewed
From street lights, to daylight
The sun washes shadows away

It's not quite what it looks like
Something brings the fade
And in comes night
You just don't feel right
Something brings the fade

To follow your heart so true
When all is falling
What gets you through
The dark nights, the moonlight
What holds the shadows away

It's not quite what it looks like
Something brings the fade
And in comes night
You just don't feel right
Something brings the fade

Tomorrow, before you lose yourself
Remember this will fade

Last night I posted a mix of a new song of ours. The song is called To The Line. Check it out and let us know what you think. Stand by for more uploads.

-Billy

To The Line

Pushed all the way, past any sense of what I once was
All the way, to the line
Light years away, from what was so clear in my blindness
All the way, to the line

An eye for the lie, I know I was gun-shy
So paralyzed, caught in the headlights
Broken for a while, denied my denial
So terrified, I couldn't try

Pushed all the way, past any sense of what I once was
All the way, to the line
Light years away, from what was so clear in my blindness
All the way, to the line

So close to the line, looked in from the outside
Jaded my view, the line you pushed me to

You came to the line, you brought a knife to a gunfight
The line divides, and you chose your side

Pushed all the way, past any sense of what I once was
All the way, to the line
Light years away, from what was so clear in my blindness
All the way, to the line

So,  Chinese Democracy really is coming out soon... oh wait...  I mean "For your consideration" really is coming soon. It's been a long time coming, a lot of obstacles to get past. This week I will post probably one, maybe two, songs here on our myspace. I'm very picky about things so now that it's getting down to the last bits, i'm not going to rush. Everything gets the fine toothed comb.

Stand by for the update.

So its been a little while since we've written a blog and id say its time. Things are movin... We've got Jeremy in the studio adding his guitar parts to the record courtesy of our Studio Owner/Engineer/Singer/Guitarist/Voice of an Angel, Mr. Billy Marshall.

Yes we sound like a broken record, but i do asure you, come hell or high water, the album will be done very soon and then on to bigger and better things.

The album is entitled "For Your Consideration" and will feature the current and permanent line up of the band. We're all very excited, we put our blood sweat, tears and love (not that kind of love) into it.

in other news, our buddies in SYRRAH and SPECTRAL EMPIRE are playing tonight... Muggs in Doylestown.. free show.

more info will come, and possibly a teaser of the album.

stay tuned.

Update on "For Your Consideration"
-------------------------
Thanks to all of those who are being oh so patient for our forthcoming new album "For Your Consideration".

We are looking for a release just after the holidays and New Year in 2009.

But before then, we are going to work and try and put some of the tracks as singles in the coming weeks.

The artwork looks awesome. We shot it over in Pj's living room and designed it with the help of Kelly Kirly from K.2 Photography.Check her out in our top friends on the Myspace page. Kelly has done some great live footage of us as well and is looking for more artists to work with.

She's cool, don't worry.

Help spread MESINA
-------------------------
No, it's not a PSA on public health...

But a little information to let you know that we have started to interact with reverbnation.com more in the past few weeks.

There are alot of great features on the website that gets you up-to-date news and touring information as well as "Fan Exclusive" tracks that only a lucky few will be privelaged to hear.

Also, you can sign up for the mailing list AND the Mesina Street Team.

AAAANNNNNDDDD you can help promote Mesina on your Myspace, Facebook, Bebo, etc etc. with keen lil' widgets to customize your page with. The widget will give you music, news, photos, show schedules, hell even a way to contaminate your friends as well.

Head over to www.myspace.com/mesinatheband, look for the Widget in our About Mesina section. There will be a lil' yellow button called SHARE. Click that, copy the code anywhere on your site, and now you can call yourself one of the cool kids!

Also available under the Widgets TAB on our reverbnation.com/mesina profile as well.

It's not that hard....come on, even Pj figured it out.

Until next week, Mahalo.

Embracing

Forever in the eye
Under eternal light that shines
Twisting lovers find
Tomorrow is a prize
Waiting for you
Promises, these unspoken things that
Bring them tighter together

Breathing, like the first time
Seeing, for the first time

Shimmering, divine,
One million stars across the sky
Two lovers realize
Desire by design
Finding the truth
Promises, these unspoken things that
Bring them tighter together

Breathing, like the first time
Seeing, for the first time

Embracing without fear
Facing whatever comes today
With blood and shedding tears
A path cut through the disarray

Everything and anything for you
Everything and anything for you
Embracing
Embracing
Embracing.

------------------------------

Just Like Pretend

A sudden rush, caught up in the thrill of lust
No harm in what no one can see
It’s the end, love is dead
Dragged down in a pose of apathy

All eyes ahead
Ignorance is bliss it has been said
Just like pretend
You fake it all to make it in the end

A silent death, no last words no one could care less
No regrets and your soul is obsolete
It’s the end, love is dead
Broke down and succumbed to atrophy

All eyes ahead
Ignorance is bliss it has been said
Just like pretend
You fake it all to make it in the end

------------------------------

Ties That Bind

Sever the ties that bind
The fear that keeps you locked inside
The hands that kept you blind
Hidden from the world outside
Are shaking

Stand tall and walk away
Stand tall always

Sever the ties that bind
The fear that you just can’t deny
Wound tight around your mind
A noose set for the final slide
You’re breaking

Stand tall and walk away
Stand tall always

------------------------------

Perfect

She's whispering something
But i just don't know
So reassuring
Tells me that I'm not alone

Words just try, but can't describe feelings inside
And it won't fade away
Perfect in my eyes

When everything's falling,
And I just don't know
Where i'm going
Feeling so far from home

Her love surrounds me
And won't let me go
I'd stay here forever
Knowing I'm not alone

Words just try, but can't describe feelings inside
And it won't fade away
Perfect in my eyes

------------------------------

Running Out

Time takes soo long
But in the blink of an eye, a final decision
This may be wrong
But everything, everything ends

My time
Left here
Is running, running out

Soon I'll be gone
Leave it behind, this emotional prison
If I could be strong
I'd try it all over again

This time
For real
Saying goodbye

My time
Left here
Is running, running out

------------------------------

World's Apart

Worlds away from me
I can feel you breathing while you sleep
So far away
Gravity pulls the broken together

Reaching a hand out to you
Take it
Take it
Tragedy walled up inside you
Break it
Break it

Say what you mean to me
Open your eyes in the dark, trust in me
Don't push me away
Blind lead the blind in total surrender

Reaching a hand out to you
Take it
Take it
Tragedy walled up inside you
Break it
Break it

Twisted together as one
But shattered illusions make you run
So far away
Chasing the lost to the end of forever

Reaching a hand out to you
Take it
Take it
Tragedy walled up inside you
Break it
Break it down

When the walls all come falling away
You'll bathe in the light of the day

------------------------------

Leaving

I waved, you said 'Goodbye'
Played brave, but still a lie
Nothing i could say would've made a difference
Would you have listened?
All that you dreamed and wanted,
I couldn't give it

Believe me
In spite of everything, anything i said
In Leaving
I walked away, to save you in the end.

A gaze, a fading smile
A haze, a dream so wild
Not so easy, when facing you
Life is slipping through my hands,
There's nothing i can do

Believe me
If i could do anything, everything again
The bleeding, broken heart, and crying eyes would mend

Days go by
Years go by
Maybe we
Never tried

Believe me
In spite of everything, anything i said
In Leaving
I walked away, to save you in the end

------------------------------

Awake

Alive and racing time
Stepping through the doors that close behind
Mistakes along the line
Tripped me up but not enough
To push it all aside

Wait!
All the pieces fall right into place
Awake!
Been dreaming far too long to piss it all away

Afraid to walk the line
Slipped right through the days stuck in my mind
Betrayed by inner lies
But woke up, woke up, woke up

Wait!
All the pieces fall right into place
Awake!
Been dreaming far too long to piss it all away

Wait!
All the pieces fall right into place
Awake!
Been dreaming far too long to piss it all away

Current mood:  anxious
Ok kids, it's been a really long fuckin time since i've written a bulletin. seriously, i've been slacking. but now that we've been dormant (at least to the outside observer) for a month, it's time to get this show on the road. literally.

we've started booking our first tour. and our first tour will be followed by a second, but baby steps...

we've got two confirmed dates and we'll probably end up with close to 10. the party starts in late march. we'll be heading from beautiful southeast PA to FL and back. the actual dates and locations will be announced when we've got the whole plan.

we are in fact a bit behind on recording this CD due to unforeseen circumstances, but we've been writing new material and can't wait to get it all recorded.

we will be hitting the road with new Tshirt designs and new stickers, maybe some other goodies as well. i picked up a sweet van which is known as "Sanchez, the love ma-cheen" this will be our road-warrior mobile. pics to come...

get ready for some good times people. holla atcha boy!

-Billy
