Hey Everyone, RVP here, So the other side band I play in
called Ten Ways From Sunday featuring Dave Young (Guitars) and Mike
Young (Bass) (ex- Devin Townsend Band, Terror Syndrome) with Eric
Severinson on vocals, is now in mixing mode with one of Vancouver's top
engineers/mixers Jay "JVP" Van Poederooyen at Van Howes Studios here in
Vancouver, BC, Canada. We are four songs into mixing the album and it
is sounding HUGE! JVP is the head engineer for famed producer Brian
Howes and also happens to be my brother - not many people have a last
name like that on this planet! LOL! Jay and Brian have worked with such
artist's as Hinder (both albums), Puddle of Mud, Chris Cornell, Chris
Daughtrey and many more famous artists. Needless to say we're in very
good hands with JVP at the mixing helm. There will be 12 songs
on this debut release (with myself and Eric in the band, they have 3
previous releases with a different drummer and singer) which clocks in
at just over an hour! The music itself is progressive hard rock with
catchy vocals and versatile/technical musicianship. The influences of
"Ten Ways" range from bands like King Crimson to Incubus (earl stuff)
to Porcupine Tree to Meshuggah. It's a versatile mix of music on this
record which music fans and musicians can enjoy alike. We always make
sure that the song comes first before the musicianship. The album
should be finished mixing by September 1st, 2009. We will then move on
to mastering. We still have to decide on who will master the album.
Stay posted for that news. Personally, this is probably one of
the best, if not the best recording of my drumming to date, on a
performance and sound point of view. You can expect tons of odd time
signatures, displacement of beats, crazy fills, lots of versatile
double kick and some good ole fashioned "4 on the floor" for the
catchier songs. We did zero drum editing on this album, except for
comping my drum takes. What you hear is exactly what I played. There is
a ton of feel in my playing as a result. I'm extremely proud of my
drumming on this record and can't wait for you RVP followers to hear it! The official track listing has not been decided yet but here are the song titles for the album: 25 to Life Smile Birthwork Swan Dive Comet Nikita Contraband Enough The Solution Rehab Denial Denial (Part Two) You
can expect the full length album to completed and ready for release by
the end of 2009 or early 2010. How and where it will be released will
be announced at a later date. Stay posted for all up to date details here or at
http://www.myspace.com/tenwaysfromsunday or at my myspace page http://www.myspace.com/rvpdrums. Back to mixing... Best, RVP

Hey Everyone,
So I recently came back from a trip to New York at the end of July.
During that trip I paid a visit to the Evans Drumheads main
headquarters to say hello to my reps and check things out at the
factory. During the visit, they asked me to do an interview/testimonial
regarding Evans Drumheads, the different projects I play in and to talk
about Evans Drumheads in general. It was a really cool day and a lot of
fun doing the interview and hanging out with my kick ass USA reps.
There are two parts to the interview, I've provided the links below. I
talk about my approach in using Evans Heads, using Two Snares and how I
skin them, my influences and lots of other topics including playing with Devin and the gang.
I'd like to thank my USA rep Steve Lobmeier and the rest of the Evans
crew, for asking me to do the interview and for making my visit to the
Evans Headquarters an awesome and memorable experience! Evans Heads
kick major fucking ass and so do their reps!
Check it out....
Best,
RVP

I've been rehearsing this album with Devin the past few weeks and it is FUCKING AWESOME! Dev and I are really connecting on this album more than ever. The music is super catchy in a really heavy way. The album is filled with slammin' drums with HUGE guitars and Vocals. Devin is back, back in a fucking BIG way with this record, this will be worth checking out, mark my words. Yo Terrorizers,
First of all,
Just wanted to wish you all an awesome holiday season. Hope you all get what you want and have a safe time over the holidays....if you drink, don't drive!!! All the best to you all in 2009, it's going to be a great year and we look forward to seeing many of you when we start touring!
As for the last update for 2008, here's what we got going on....
In early January 2009, Terror Syndrome will be hitting the studio to record a track with our new singer Dave Padden (Annihilator frontman as well). We will be going in to record the track with engineer and my brother Jay Van Poederooyen who is the engineer/mixer for well known producer Brian Howes, together they have worked on projects such Hinder (both albums), Puddle of Mud, Rev Theory and many other famous acts. Needless to say we will get some awesome sounds and the song will be released on iTunes world wide as soon as we are finished mixing and mastering the song.
I'll be producing the song like I did with the Terror Syndrome album. This song will more than likely be added to the debut Terror Syndrome album when we release it on CD in 2009. We will release more details after the song is recorded... this will be a song many of you already know and it will be heavy, heavy, HEAVY!
As for touring, we are working on tour dates for early 2009 and will keep you posted when they are 100% confirmed. We cannot wait to bring the Terror to as many places as possible. As for the live video we mentioned... that is being worked on and will be released in the new year on You Tube and our My space page as well.
Lastly, you can look for another MP3 from our debut album to be put up before the end of the year. It will be a song that has never been posted on our My Space page. So check back soon to hear it!
Ryans favorite albums of 2008 :
1. Meshuggah - Obzen 2. Gojira - The Way of all Flesh 3. Opeth - Watershed 4. Textures - Silhouettes
Thanks for the support from all you awesome fans. 2008 was an awesome year and we are very excited for 2009. Keep spreading the Terror like you all do and thanks for amazing and continued support, you ALL rule!!!!
Horns high and all the best in 2009!

Hey Terrorizers,
First of all, we'd like to thank everyone who came out to the first Terror Syndrome show ever. It was held at the Tom Lee Music Hall in downtown Vancouver on October 28th, 2008. The turn out was awesome and you fans kicked some ass!!! We had some cameras rolling that night for some video footage. We're working on getting a video clip up of a song or two in the very near future. Stay posted.... as soon as it's up, you'll all be notified.
Now that Terror Syndrome has gone live, we're starting to set up more live dates. We should have some more live dates announced in the next couple weeks. We eventually want to tour everywhere and get out to all you fans but we're going to start in our home market first.... North America. The more support we get from you all, the quicker we will be touring your way.
To answer a BIG question many of you have been asking....
Will Cd's be made for this album ?
CD's will be put in production. We will announce when that will happen. We still need to record one more song for the album before we release it though.... that song is a surprise and it will have Dave Padden our new vocalist singing and screaming on the track. Expect an iTunes release for this track as well.
We know lots of you have downloaded the TS debut album for free off of various bit-torrent sites and such, that's cool and all and we're glad you're diggin' the album. BUT... if you want us to get out and tour your city, we need your support by buying the album off of iTunes. This will result in more touring!!! Sales are good via iTunes but if they get even better, we can start thinking about touring outside of North America. Support the TERROR!!!
So there it is. We're busy putting live dates together, rehearsing, setting up more recording... the TERROR is in full swing. Look for more news very soon.
Spread the TERROR!!!! Thanks for your support!!!

Ryan and Terror Syndrome
