Hey all.
Thanks for sticking around through this period of relative inactivity. There are a few big things coming up which I guess it's about time we let you guys in on.
Firstly, 230503, after what seems like a lifetime, is completely finished. It was mastered at the end of last month and it sounds pretty polished and certainly takes the listener on the journey we wanted to take them on. We've played it to a couple of people who have been absolutely thrilled with it, and so are we, just quietly.
Rob and Dave spent a night last week with Matt, our graphic artist, who has created a stunning cover for the record. It's coming out in a gatefold sleeve like a record would have done. But there is still a booklet with the full lyrics in to give you some idea of what the whole thing is about.
The band is in the process of trying to play the whole thing, with all the linking sections of music, so we can play the whole record in sequence at the album launch show which will be coming up towards the end of the year. We have a couple of venues in mind in Sydney, and more news will be posted when we know what's happening.
We are in the process of trying to get www.anubismusic.com up and running with an independent website, that will link to both our facebook and myspace pages. We will also look at putting the final album versions of a couple of tracks up here too to preview it ahead of it's release. The site will also have info for any non-Austrailian anubis fans who'd like to get their hands on the album, be it in mp3 format or the CD gatefold. We've been hatching a plan to get the music heard by as many people as possible and that will all be through our website.
So that's the album. Our realistic hope is to have it released in the last quarter of 2009 if not before. We're looking at having it pressed sometime next week.
That also seems a good time to mention the fact that we recorded a live EP on our series of shows with Meniscus, Buzzard and Nothinggod. From the mixes we've heard so far, it was a very powerful night, and the set was more savage than usual. This, it's hoped, will be up on iTunes for download sometime soon.
So that's where we're at at the moment. Thanks again for sticking around patiently and we hope your patience is rewarded with a record you enjoy.
Robert, David, Nick, Doug and Steve.

Dave, our keyboard player, has written an exhaustive (exhausting?) blog that chronicles the whole process of 230503 from beginning to end. For anyone whose got a spare hour or six to spare, and is interested (for some reason) in what a balding English Tony Blair soundalike has to say about an album nobody has heard yet, follow this link... http://www.davideatonscollapse.blogspot.com

Anubis will be playing at The Sandringham in Newtown on March 28th and at The Lansdowne on City Road, Sydney on May 22nd. There is a show currently also being lined up for April at the Bridge in Rozelle... dates to be announced. The nights in question will be Prog/Art/Muso-Rock (delete as applicable) evenings featuring ourselves, Nothinggod, Buzzard and the new line-up of Meniscus (who we are all big fans of).
For anyone who likes their music hot and their gigs a bit scary, this is the perfect way to keep warm as the nights get colder. Hope to see some of you there.
230503 is now finished and is awaiting it's date with Turtle Rock mastering studios to give it it's final coat of paint before we release it to be hopefully enjoyed by people who we know have waited ages to hear it. We are optimistic it will be available from gigs by about June and online to order in the mail (or to download for all of those people who want just the MP3 files) shortly after that.
See you next Saturday!
