So here we are again. Finally back online, free to speak about whatever I wish, though I know what you want to hear about. Ever since uHm announced we were going to be disbanding everyone keeps asking the same question. Why? We never really addressed the issue publicly, we wanted to focus on the three remaining shows we had left. Now that those shows are over, while we don't feel we need to explain, I will give you some insight.

uHm in one form or another has been together now for four years. Four long years, of ups and downs, four collections of music weather they be demo's or whatnot, five states, countless cities and shows, and a number of friends it would be foolish to try to put a number on. We thank all of you for what we very well may look back on as four of the greatest years of our lives, and we deeply thank you all.

In the course of four years, musical tastes change, people mature, unexpected becomes daily. uHm has always prided itself in being a blend, of different scenes, different people, all blended together into the machine.

The Urban Hate Machine has accomplished so much and more. However, the experience gained from uHm breaths a breath of fresh air into what we're all trying to accomplish now with other potential projects brewing in the air.

uHm still plans to release it's final collection of music Five Past Sanity. However we have no real date for you guys. We know you want to hear this record, and to be frank, so do we. It will be released, but we can't tell you when.

So that's a really long way of stepping around things don't you think?

Ladies & Gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, peeps, freaks, and geeks alike, it is time. For months you've been wondering what the status of uHm was, if or when 5 Past Sanity would finally be released, this update is intended to answer any questions you may have.

uHm has selected our producer, Chris Brown, and will be entering the studio April 27th & April 28th to begin recording 5 Past Sanity. We will be recording the record in two seperate sessions. The first obviously in April, and the second session taking place in late June, to mid July, with an official release date sometime in August, to September.

While we realise this is a longer wait than we had originally anticipated, uHm will be releasing a self titled E.P. in May containing the tracks from session one. These tracks will be put with the tracks from Session 2 to make the long awaited full length 5 Past Sanity.

We here at uHm would like to thank you all for your continueing "hate". It's been a long couple months. Aashmir, our new bassist is ready to get out in front of people, and start spreading our disease. Be sure to hit him up (click his pic on the main page for his personal myspace), get to know him, and welcome him to the family.

We begin our relaunch March 25th at Sabra's Brave Knights, the old Pig Pen in Clinton Iowa. This will be an all ages show back in the old home town. Then our official relaunch April 6th at Lumpy's in Davenport with Left 4 Dead, and Destined Apostle. Then it's off to Dubuque for two shows, and then one here in the new home that is home Cedar Rapids at the historic 3rd Street Live with our new found friends from NANCY.

One more thing!!! New uHm merch is on it's way thanks to our friends from Tortured Soul Streetware!! You can find them on our top friends, and we would like to personally thank Bam! and his crew for their support. Pick this shit up peeps, we gots to live!!

Thanks peeps, hope this update does exactly what it was intended to do. Spread the disease, Live The Hate, and get down with the clown.

Interview With Mike Jargo (drummer) of Urban Hate Machine

1) When and how did uhm start as a band?

Mike: uHm was originally formed in the summer of 2003, In Clinton Iowa at a shit-hole bar that would eventually become Graffiti. As for how it was formed, just by three musicians who didn't have anyone else to jam with, so we jammed together, and things just sort of took off from there.

2) What are some of the things that influence the song writing to Urban Hate Machines Lyrincs?

Mike: Love, Hate, Politics, And everyday bullshit. We're real people, we write about real shit oing on in our lives, or in society as a whole.

3) How Long has Urban Hate Machine been apart of the local music scene inclueding former bands and past experiences?

Mike: Since 1999, When Trevor (vocalist) formed Fabrication, I later joined Fabrication in late 2003.

4) What are some of the things uHm hopes to accomplish?

Mike: Complete and, udder world domination lol, We just want our music to be heard by as many people as it can be. In a perfect world we'd make enough money from it to support our families, and our habits...

5) It's been said that uHm is in search of new members. What do you look for when your searching for these musicians?

Mike: Well music ability of coursem but you gotta have the flare. The charisma that makes you a performer, not just a musician, uHm v 3.0 is going to be a complete experience, not just musically, but in performance as well, you gotta have that swager

6) What are some of the highlights in the time that uHm has been running?

Mike: Well, First was the show in St. Louis with the old line up, that was amazing, nothing like a 10 hour drive to rock the house for a half hour, followed by the tour, and getting to play with some amazing bands like Left 4 Dead, Straight Line Stitch, Mindset Evolution, we've toured 5 states now, and we're just getting started.

7) What are some moments in your career that you would like to relive?

Mike: Jefferson City Missouri, that place was just fucking amazing, the psycho carnival was great, lots of great bands, but i guess the one that i would really wanna re-do is the dope show I played with Fabrication, but with Trevor on vocals this time. so i guess we gotta set that up, uHm and dope, hell yeah that'd be a show to see!

8) How many albums has uHm produced and were can the fans purchase these albums?

Mike: Well, we've produced our first two albums ourselves, Dangerous Plaything, and Tales From High Street, you can purchase both of those through our myspace www.myspace.com/urbanhatemachine and our .com www.urbanhatemachine.com as for t-shirts, and also the albums you can always pick em up at our live shows, assuming we still have them in stock.

9) How does uhm feel about the local scene in iowa?

Mike: We love it, the talent level in iowa, and the rest of the midwest is totally insane! i don't think any other place in the world could keep up with the midwest in the talent department. it's just a matter of getting the fans excited to come out to the shows, the only thing this scene lacks is major radio support, and a direct flight to or from NY or LA .

10) What band has uhm wanted to but never played with?

Mike: That's a long list man, everyone we haven't played with we want too, except the country and pop stars of course, and everyone we've played a show with, we've completely enjoyed, how's that for side steppin' a question lol

11) What is the bands drink of choice?

Mike: jager & lots of it, & bud ice

12) How does uhm feel about metal movement?

Mike: it's a little all over the board, but metal is metal, as unified as it can be, as diverse as it wants to be that's what makes it great music.

13) Does uHm wish to advance into the regional status some day?

Mike: we feel like we have, indiana, illinois, iowa, missouri, and kansas, we like to consider ourselves to be a regional act allready

14) What are some changes we should expect to see in the months to come?

Mike: changes, we'll leave it at that, people will just have to wait and see what happens, i don't wanna give too much away

15) If you guys could play any show with any band and do whatever you want how would this show be? What would you do to make this one different from all the other shows you ever done?

Mike: With any band? it'd have to be a uHm, crossbreed, and KISS show. the most completely over the top stage show you've ever seen, and the music to back it up. we take great influence from both of those bands, it'd be our honor to open for one, let alone both of them, oh, at Cobo Hall in Detroit Rock City, of course

16) What do you feel makes uHm so different from any other band?

Mike: Our stage presence, and performance are in constant evolution. we try not to think inside of a box, like this is uHm, or that is uHm, we're our own individuals. with that said though, the next incarnation will be a completely different visual spectacile that anything we've done before

17) What does uhm do to reach out to their fans?

Mike: unlike some artists, we actually do enjoy meeting, talking to, and developing friendships with all our fans. there's this persona like big bad metal head's or punk fans, but we'll sit on myspace and talk to people all day. we're very receptive of our fans, and thankful for them all.

18) What are some regrets and choices uhm has made that has affected the band?

Mike: We don't regret anything this band has done, everything we've done, we've done for reasons, and as part of our plan, we don't look back and regret

19) What do you feel Maggot Promotions can do to represent your band in the Quad Cities (Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline)?

Mike: We've put MP in charge of our QC are bookings, and promotions. so they'll be in charge of getting us the shows, and getting the people there. continuing our qc outreach at lumpy's & penguins, as well as breaking us into the new clubs like 1812.

20) Decribe your idea(s) of the perfect Metal Show.

Mike: The perfect metal show...us, you, and a shitload of other people

21) Where do you see your band in 5 years?

Mike: It all depends on the people we bring in, their styles, their stage presence, and the music we write in the next couple months, i can't honestly answer that question

22) In that 5 years what do you hope to accomplish and a unit?

Mike: Being in iowa, it's so difficult to say, we're going to go out, bust our asses, and see where things take us. while we're looking at the big picture, we haven't sat down as a unit and discussed our goals, it's hard to do that until we have our missing pieces

23) What is uHm's Favorite Band to do a show with and why?

Mike: Left 4 Dead, without question. Those guys are the premiere band in our scene, we want to play with the best. We're all fans of those guys, as well as friends, it's just a great show. But there are so many bands we've met throughout the past 3 years, we can't truely narrow that down to just one band, it all depends on what town, what night, the talent level around here is so good.

24) If uHm ever came to a finish, How do you think the fans would feel about this?

Mike: Again, I don't speculate, and we're nowhere near the end, so i don't see a need to even answer that

25) Who would you say uHm's Number one fan is and why?

Mike: I can't answer that

26) If there is one message uHm can send to its fans reading this what would it be?

Mike: Well, at this point in our career, i'd have to say the message is we'll be back. version 3.0 of uHm is going to be quite intense, i just hope everyone else is as excited about it as we are.

27) Is there anything else you would like to add about your band?

Mike: We are who we are, and we do what we do, this is what we do. that's our new little slogan, this is what we do.

So here it is, my blog from this past weekend, and what a weekend it was, in one too many ways. First of all, I would like to thank everyone for comming out to these shows, it was quite a weekend, and not one I'll soon forget.

Friday: uHm hits Lumpy's with Payn Stayk & Illinoise. The show wasn't all that great I'll be honest. We didn't have D-Mac with us due to his envolvement in a wedding, and we just had no intensity on the stage. We showed up, we played our music, and we went home, that was about it. I apologize to all you people that came to Lumpy's that night. You've come to expect a certain kind of show from us, and we just didn't deliver. I'm sorry, and I assure you, this will not happen again. Illinoise & Payn Stayk rocked the fuckin' joint, intense shit as always. All in all thought, it was a dissapointment to myself, and to you as fans.

Saturday: Was just plain fuckin' weird. Sandi didn't make it to Shefftucky with me, which was just odd. The trip there, the show, the way home, it was just fuckin' weird. Yes, I missed you Sandi. As for the music, INTENSE! It's great to see a small town (population 950) show up and represent ALL FUCKING DAY! Sheffield is the shit, plain and simple, and we can't wait to come back in December!

Sunday: Okay, this is the sole purpose for me writing this blog. I really kinda feel like shit, and I owe a lot of people an explanation. Ya ever notice how ghosts seem to show up around halloween? Well yeah, that kinda happened to me. The one person I didn't expect to see walk through the door, and yes I was standing there when she did, just happened to show up. I really thought about leaving right there on the spot, but I just couldn't stand to miss the rest of this show.

For the record, I sat in the same chair, all fucking night, with a video camera, so those of you who really wanted to find me could have. And yes I'm uploading video as we speak. I was just in a really bad situation. A lot of my friends, are a lot of her friends, and to be honest guys, I'd rather not talk to you, than be put in a circle where we both were at. It's nothing personal, and fuck it really sucks, but that's the way it was. I sincerely hope you accept this as my apology, and please know I do feel like shit about this, but it would have been so fucking uncool. So Bam, Mrs Bam, Lea, Web, Sherry, and holy shit this is a long list so I'm just gonna stop, but please take this as one hell of an apology.

NOW, with that said, STRAIGHT LINE STITCH, MINDSET EVOLUTION, LEFT 4 DEAD, ARE THE FUCKING SHIT! What a fucking show, from Fludder, all the way through, Justify The Means, 13 Days, SHC, the list goes on and on, what a fucking show. I feel honored to have been in the building, and blessed to have played at this show. WOW!!

So there's my happy little blog, leave hate mail below:

Sandi: Hi Mike, thanks for joining us.

Mike [uHm]: Thanks for having me.

Sandi: I was wondering if you could tell us a little bit about your new CD.

Mike: "Tales From High Street" is the follow up to our release from earlier this year "Dangerous Playthings". When we recorded the first disc, we were really just happy to get some audio down. This time, we actually turned our rehersal space into a makeshift studio, and wrote, recorded, mixed, and produced the whole thing ourselves. It's just an EP though, two new songs, and a new version of "Jokes On You" which is also on the first disc.

Sandi: That's great! I know you guys have been out of action lately, do you have any shows coming up, and where are they?

Mike: Well, we took a couple of months off to record High Street, and since we've just done a couple of spot shows. Next weekend we'll be hitting the circuit again here in Cedar Rapids at Tornado's, then we go to Dubuque the 21st, Sheffield Illinois for a big Halloween show on the 28th, and another show on the 29th at the Rivoli Theater in Monmouth Illinois.

Sandi: I know you guys did a small Midwest tour last winter, are there any plans in the works for another?

Mike: Yeah our "We Love The Bible Belt Tour". That was a great time. Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa, are all great places to play. While it was a blast, and we do want to do some more extensive touring, right now we're just trying to get back into the scene, and push the new material on to our home base crowd. So, in a round a bout way, not right now.

Sandi: How can we get a copy of "Tales From High Street"?

Mike: Well the easiest and cheapest way is at one of the shows. However we do have both discs available for order through our myspace www.myspace.com/urbanhatemachine and our official site www.urbanhatemachine.com.

Sandi: I'm sure you get this a lot, but how did you guys come up with the band name?

Mike: uhm..*pauses* that's about it. We were all literally sitting around Stan's old place and were basically like okay this is a band, we need a name. All we could really come up with was uhm...so we went with that. Stan was the first one to come up with Urban Hate Machine, then later on we added The to it because we saw in a movie once bands with the word THE in the title make more money than those without. Kind of our own little joke about pop culture I guess.

Sandi: What sites can our listeners check you out on?

Mike: Well like I said earlier we're on myspace and we have our .com. We also use Pure Volume, Band Space, Garage Band, My Space Charts, oh man I hope I'm not forgetting any. You can also find us through our management company Muse Management on myspace.

Sandi: How did you find your current vocalist?

Mike: T and I were in another band prior to him joining uHm called Fabrication. He and Fabrication had a bit of a fall out, and uHm which I was also in was looking for a new vocalist, so things just kind of worked out. Throwing him into the mix with the rest of the guys was definitely a transition, it's not even really the same band anymore. If you hear the old recordings of the same material, you would never think it was the same band just with different vocalists. We went from a more pop/punk sound, to our own genre that we've established now.

Sandi: I know some of the guys in the band have known each other for a while, how long?

Mike: Wow, that's a hard one let me think for a second. D-Mac and I met back in elementary school, in like 3rd grade when we were both 9. So about 18 years there, wow that's scary. I met T when I was a sophomore in High School, so about 11 years there. We actually had a band a long time ago. Then I met Stan through our old bassist when we started uHm and NapalmHavica while not original has been in the band for about 2 ½ years.

Sandi: Any plans for writing new material in the near future?

Mike: We're always writing to be honest. We don't really sit down and say okay guys, time to write now, because then we'd just come out with the same forced superficial crap as everyone else ya know. We try to write off whatever is going on. Our free jam ability has always been one of the strong points for the band. With that being said, we do have some material that we've been working on that nobody's really gotten to hear yet, that we'll be perfecting and getting ready to record hopefully next spring.

Sandi: What is it that makes you guys unique from other bands?

Mike: I think it's just really our willingness to do this. We've all been at this with different bands for years. Most of us look at it as our really last chance. We're well aware of what we do, and we purely and truly like each other. We work our asses off, we talk to our fans, and we don't feed you some superficial crap. We try not to think inside of a box, we're not a metal band, we're not a punk band, we're not a rock band, we're all of them at the same time. We just try to make kick ass music!

Sandi: Thanks for the interview.

Mike: Any time.
