Today I'm going to talk to you a little bit about searching for live music services at Google.

To be able to rank high in major search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN requires
credibility. If you were to go to google.com and do a search on "hire live band kl", you will see my band website at the No 1 position out of 35,100 other music websites in Malaysia. Do take note that this search results may and will vary.

Try searching other phrases that are related to those phrases e.g jazz trio kl, jazz quartet kl, jazz musicians kl, etc and my site(www.myspace.com/jasongeh) or my other related music websites(www.jaylatestperformance.blogspot.com), (www.jasongeh.blogspot.com) will show up on the 1st page of your search i.e one of the top 10 band websites. Try searching on Yahoo and MSN and you'll notice the same results.

There's no way I or anyone can fool Google to get rank at the top, only if Google considers your site relevant and credible. I'm not saying this to show off but merely to determine that the live band services that I provide is not a "fly by night" thing and you, as the client will be dealing with me and my team who are music professionals and have been in the music entertainment in Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur for decades.

It has took us a lifetime of dedication in music to get to the level we're at. We're talking about years and years of  performing experiences.

At the moment, we're concentrating more on supplying music bands for corporate events. Yes, we're a function band, made up of local musicians and singers that also perform for wedding receptions, parties, concerts, product launches, anniversaries and any other functions that can be thought of. In fact we have performed in so many weddings that we're sometimes labelled wedding entertainers, wedding musicians, wedding music bands, to just name a few.

Watch some introductory videos about me on this website. To book a band, contact me at JasonGeh@yahoo.com or 016 2800 216

This entry is about hiring a quality band versus hiring a cheap band. Obviously, anyone would choose quality, rite? The thing is quality doesn't come cheap. The saying "You get what you pay for" holds true, not just when hiring band but in any situation.

There are some clients that are willing to pay an "x" amount of money but expect "xxxx" in return. You can find a band that offers you a cheap fee but most clients will realize later that they're not getting quality service and satisfactory music.

When you have an event, you definitely would want the best entertainment and service you can find. If you desire quality and value, pay for it! As special events only come "once in a blue moon" and I'm sure you want to have good memories of that occasion.

I specialize in performing and band management for events and functions. Thus when I undertake an event, I will give my best and focus my energy and attention to it. When client approach me, I will need to get some key details about their event in order to come up with the best solutions.

Solutions meaning the "right" band for your event, whether it's assembling a Jazz quartet, Jazz trio, strollers, with vocals or just strictly instrumental. Choosing the correct musicians and the correct combination of musicians that work well together is where my expertise and experience comes in. The musicians that I choose will also be determine by what kind of repertoire or genre of music, your event requires.

I don't rely on the same musicians and singers all the time. All of them are freelancers and locking them down for a specific date can only be done when a deposit is received. Through the years dealing with clients, I found out the hard way that verbal confirmation won't do. If I were to book the singers and musicians for a particular date and the client later cancels our band for some unforseen reasons, I will loose credibility to my musicians and loose out on other offers, for the same date, that happens to come my way after the clients initial booking. It also won't be fair to my team members as they might or  might not already turn down other offers for that date as well.

Therefore, an initial deposit is compulsory once a client have decided to hire us, and balance payment on the performance night. It is my responsibility to settle my teams remunerations 3 to 4 days after the performance date.

Coming back to the topic at hand, you might ask yourself "Why should I trust and hire this person?" That's basically the purpose of this website. It's to inform you that you're dealing with a professional and with someone that's credible. Be sure to check out the 3 videos in this page. It's about 5 to 6 minutes per-video.

Hence, if you're really serious about hiring me, sit back, relax and spend 15 minutes to view the 3 videos. And if you think I'm the guy that you want to hire, do contact me to get more details.

There's also a link "latest performance" on this site where you can view my latest and my past performances in detail. Each and every one of my events are listed there since I've started blogging from August 2006.

There is also my "Profile" link and a "video" link if you have time to explore further.

The term Jazz band in Malaysia and in the western countries are perceived differently. Jazz band actually means Charlie Parker, Bill Evans trio, Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Big band, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Bossa Novas, swing music etc

There are venues and clubs in Kuala Lumpur that take "Jazz" in it's true form e.g "No black tie", "Alexis" and "Top Hat"(No longer). There are also new clubs in Malaysia that attempts to maintain a Jazz club concept by hiring a Jazz band that plays strictly Jazz music. But after a few months, club owners will typically change their idea, realizing that there's only so much "Jazz" a general music listener can take before they "switch off" thus affecting their businesses.

There are only a handfull of Jazz fanatics that are true Jazz purist. I must admit, I'm not one of those purist. When I go watch a band, I like to hear color, a little Jazz, pop, modern and as a band manager, pianist and keyboard player, I take that same route. I like performing and listening to varied styles of music during an event.

Hence, I adopt that concept when performing for the events and functions that I undertake. I understand that most people love listening to variety. Our band perform all sorts of repertoire ranging from country, pop, latin to Jazz, retro and evergreens, to entertain listeners and entertain ourselves. I will assemble musicians in my team that have that mentality of "entertaining".

When choosing a Jazz band to hire for an event, you have to know what concept the band adopts. There are image bands that plays only Jazz, mainly for their own enjoyment, and there are corporate event bands like us that understand and play Jazz well, but also have the versatility to tackle all kinds of music. That is the quality that we have that most young bands are lacking as they imerge fresh from a Jazz college and form a band.

Our team members have loads of performing experience having joined Jazz bands, pop bands and other genre of bands during their early years and understand the importance of providing "entertainment". We are aware of the fact that companies hire us to entertain their guest. So there must be some kind of  interaction, humility, proper dress code and fulfilment of guest request to a certain extent.

When people of Malaysia are happy with the music that we provide, I feel happy and have accomplish my goal as an entertainer and a live music provider.
