Thanks so much to everyone who came down to the Islington Academy gig on Friday. It couldn't have gone better and it was amazing to see so many people crammed in there after all these years (creak) Here's a few highlights:

As well as getting on with tracks for Johnette I'm also doing the music for a production of Hedda Gabler for The Broken Biscuit Theatre Company. I'm trying to keep it quite varied but with a central theme. I really hate when you listen to a soundtrack and it sounds like one idea done to death ad nauseum so I want to avoid that. I think the soundtrack I most enjoyed recently was Johnny Greenwood's from There Will Be Blood. Really original while still reminiscent of some other great scores like The Shining.

Here's the trailer for the production:

...and here's another Dragons live clip from the Patronaat in Haarlem, Holland. I think I'll be doing a couple of festivals with them in August. Not sure where or when yet but I'll keep you posted:

I just uploaded a brand new track which I played guitar on and co-produced with the director Tom DiCillo. It's a cover of an old song called 16 Tons which was made famous in 1955 by 'Tennessee' Ernie Ford and originally written by George S. Davis in the 30's.

Tom is a massive hero of mine and I can honestly say I love every film he's made. I highly recommend Johnny Suede (Brad Pitt's first starring role), Living In Oblivion and Box of Moonlight - just three of the wondrous delights he has brought to the silver screen. His latest film, Delirious, stars Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt and is out on DVD this spring. As well as being an amazing writer/director, I just found out he has one helluva voice - check it out on the track.

The track also features some great backing vocals courtesy of Geeta Sparkle. You can hear more of Geeta at her Myspace.

You can read Tom's blog about the collaboration here.

Go here and click on Exclusives to see a few live tracks from The Paradiso. Luckily this isn't the video from the night before in Dordrecht. I nearly lamped the cameraman for refusing to move from his ridiculous position of straddling my pedal board for the whole gig. He actually unplugged the whole thing a few times - dumb, and if I may venture, ass.

Is this a South London phenomenon exclusively or does this kind of mindless animal cannibalism go on elsewhere? We need to know (well, I do)

Check out Dragons on XFM Manchester live in session from 7pm this Monday (the 14th).
