Welcome back to decomP for the May 2009 issue. This month we're featuring new work from leah angstman, James Babbs, Jess Del Balzo, DJ Berndt, Mel Bosworth, Clay Carpenter, Daniel Casebeer, Peter Cherches, Brent DeLanoy, Michael G. Donkin, Newamba Flamingo, Doug Holder, Sara Kaplan, Jake Kilroy, Gary Lehmann, P. H. Madore, Heather Momyer, Josh Olsen, Nanette Rayman Rivera, Andy Riverbed, Ethel Rohan, Kimberly Ruth, Edmund Sandoval, John C. Sweet, Andrew S. Taylor, J. A. Tyler, Carolyne Whelan, and Buff Whitman-Bradley. Additionally, thanks to those of you who voted in the poll regarding our poetry font. We've increased the font throughout the site. Keep in mind that most browsers can zoom in if you prefer reading large print.

Also, we'd like to officially welcome Jared Ward as decomP's Prose Editor. You may recognize Jared due to "Defining Emptily," which appeared in the February 2009 issue. Read more about Jared on the About page. Thanks again to all of you who applied.

Recently, our Poetry Editor Misti Rainwater-Lites resigned. We're sad to see her go, but we thank her for her year and a half of service. She was a great editor who brought eclecticism and flair to the magazine. Though we'll miss her, we'd like to officially welcome Jac Jemc as decomP's Poetry Editor. You'll recognize Jac, too, as a result of "Subterranean Triptych," a February 2009 issue inclusion. Read more about Jac on the About page.

Speaking of announcements, Kevin Kaiser of Examiner.com recently interviewed yours truly about decomP--its past, present, and future. Read on here to find out more about next year's print plans and a different, future anthology.

And last but certainly not least, we're proud to announce that two stories published in decomP have been selected as storySouth's Million Writers Award Notable Stories of 2008. They are Roland Goity's "America's Least Wanted" and Brady Hammes's "Narok." Please read them (again) to see what the hubbub is about. They're both worth your time, I assure you. Thanks to the judges who picked them.

Welcome back to decomP for the April 2009 issue--our fifth anniversary! This month we're featuring new work from Debrenee Adkisson, David Aichenbaum, Kyle Beachy, Lauren Becker, Benjamin Dancer, Holly Day, Justin Erickson, Carol Lynn Grellas, Alicia Hoffman, Jenna Humphrey, Justin Hyde, Niaz Khadem, Stefan Kiesbye, Vivian Lopez, Saalim Mills, Jonathan Austin Peacock, M. P. Powers, Edwin Rivera, Brian Rosenberger, Johannah Silva, Audri Sousa, Adam Sturtevant, xTx, Levi Wagenmaker, and Jonathan Wegner. Please take a minute to vote in the poll we posted in our poetry section. It's on the left-hand side, under the Amazon ad. As always, thanks for reading. Also, you'll now find us on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/decompmagazine. Follow away. And congrats to our nominees for the storySouth 2009 Million Writers Award: Roland Goity, Brady Hammes, and Chris Mohar. We wish them luck in the selection process, and hope you (re)visit their stories.

Last month we announced that we were looking for a prose editor, and as of today, we're officially closed to applications. We received far more interest than we expected, so we thank those of you who applied for the position or simply offered an encouraging word regarding our search. We hope to announce our new prose editor in the May 2009 issue email, but if we aren't able to, we'll certainly make it known. There is much to read and consider.

Please join our Google Group at http://groups.google.com/group/decomp-magazine. We're trying to move away from sending a monthly email as Gmail only allows 500 emails to be sent per day. We'll continue with the emails for the time being and if there's not enough interest in the group.

Welcome back to decomP for the March 2009 issue. Remember how February's issue was our biggest ever? Well, our March issue is just as big, if not bigger, and we're psyched about that. This month we're featuring new work from Mike Andrelczyk, Eric Bennett, Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal, Melanie Browne, John Bruce, Amber Rose Csech, Ryan Dilbert, Robert M. Dilley, Clint Edwards, D. E. Fredd, Christina Frigo, Benjamin Glass, Duane Locke, Sean Lovelace, Matthew Mahaney, Corey Mesler, Maurice Oliver, Anna Pate, Kenneth Pobo, D. C. Porder, Caleb Powell, Constance Stadler, M. Stowe, Jade Sylvan, Foster Trecost, and Lindy Wheatley. There's also a review of Shane Jones's Light Boxes (Publishing Genius Press, 2009).

As always, thanks for reading. Stay tuned for the April 2009 issue--our fifth anniversary--which will bring new stuff from Kyle Beachy, Justin Hyde, Stefan Kiesbye, and many, many others.

On a different note, decomP is getting bigger. We have big plans for the rest of 2009 and even bigger plans for 2010. As a result, we'd like to officially announce that we're searching for a prose editor. Responsibilities will include reading fiction and nonfiction submissions. The position doesn't pay at this point, unfortunately, but you'll receive everything that decomP prints in the future for free. And then there's the fame (heh). Interested? We hope so, but here's who we're looking for: a published writer who has prose online and in print, whose tastes mesh with ours (read the latest issue, and if you like all or almost all of the prose, that's a good sign), and who is looking to make a long-term commitment. Also, we're looking for someone who isn't spreading him or herself too thinly. In other words, we'd prefer decomP to be your sole editing gig. Still interested? We hope so, and here's what you should send us: a bio, links to stories we can read (or Word attachments if you only have print pub credits), previous experience that may further qualify you for the position, and why you want to join teaM decomP. Send your application to us at decomp.magazine AT gmail DOT com with Prose Editor Position as the subject. If you have any questions, please ask us. We'll keep the search open until the position is filled. We'll announce our newest addition in a future email. And if you don't make it this round, don't fret. We'll be announcing two other openings in the coming months.

Also, please join our Google Group at http://groups.google.com/group/decomp-magazine. We're trying to move away from sending a monthly email as Gmail only allows 500 emails to be sent per day. We'll continue with the emails for the time being and if there's not enough interest in the group.
