Hi. I've been recording some Christmas songs while I've been out here, and I'm posting one of them on myspace now. I know it's a little early, but it's probably cold in England and almost Christmassy. I am going to take this Christmas EP with me on tour, and also try and sell it on my website. It will have four tracks, and you can buy it and give it to your boyfriend/girlfriend for Christmas. See I'm shrewd to this whole Christmas marketing thing. Although this morning to get me in the mood I watched Charlie Brown Christmas and felt guilty for exploiting the commercial aspects of Christmas. THat's what gets Charlie Brown down. Sorry Charlie Brown. It's kind of weird to be singing Christmas songs here - I'm typing this in my togs (australian word for bikinis) having just come out of the blue blue sea. i smell like suncream.

Hi. As you can see I have deleted almost all of my songs from myspace. This is for a number of reasons, but I'm not such a big fan of the way myspace is headed and has been heading for a long time. I also think the new music player is pretty bad. But I have loads of songs posted on my website, and you can listen to them and download bedroom versions for free. My address is www.elizabethdarling.com
I'm in Australia recording songs for a new EP at the moment, which is going to be coming out in December. I'll be posting those songs on the website as soon as they're in some respectable form.
The song on myspace is a cover of the Ramones I wanna be Sedated. It's for a compilation my friend Marianthi on Atomic Beat Records is putting out. I'm not sure when. I just recorded it in one take this morning. You can hear the waves from the coast if you listen closely! I forgot to close the windows, you see

I thought I'd drop a little line and give an update on things. It's been a pretty full on week. Last week I was contacted by Radio 6, who said they wanted to put me on Steve Lamacq's Unsigned show on Friday and do an interview. EEK! I was very flattered, but also very puzzled at the same time. How on earth did they find me? Anyway, it turns out that Steve Lamacq was given the Indietracks CD, which I'm on, and he was a very nice guy. He said my songs were acerbic but funny at the same time, and he wanted to know what Henry Rollins Don't Dance was all about. I think you can still listen to it on BBC iplayer. I think it went pretty well. Hooray.
But on to the bigger story - Indietracks. Ahh, it was such an amazing weekend. I had SO much fun playing on the train with Virginia and Bill, and with Ailig from the Occasional Flickers on Dear Stephen Hawking and Emily. It was also the debut performance from boombox (nickname "SANYO") in Dear Stephen Hawking. He did very well and I think he will be incorporated into lots more songs in the future. I ended up finishing the set on the train platform, with Ginny and I standing on the benches. So much fun - so hot!
I played another set on Saturday night back on the train platform with my new friends Dana and Colin from the Smittens, THe Just Joans and Pete Green. It was a very special night for those who were there - I felt very privileged to be part of such a group. Likewise the following day, when I played uke and shaker and sang a little bit with Darren Hanlon and Dana and Colin again in the acoustic set. Darren's always been a big influence for me, coming from a little town not too far (in Oz terms) from where I do, out in the sticks of Queensland. Anyway, he was very sweet even though I was very nervous and didn't really play anything at all.
The Smittens stole the festival I think - everywhere you looked Colin was somewhere nearby, making new friends! I saw them again last night at the Luminaire with Ballboy, and was very sad to say goodbye. GOODBYE SMITTENS. I hope to see you all again soon.

A big thanks to everyone who came along last night to Good Grief. Lordy how intimate! We had loads of fun, and we actually got to soundcheck. Woo! Well done Ben and Claire for putting on such a fun evening for dancing boys and girls. Here are some of the kids reading the Darlings Comic drawn by the enigmatic and ever endearing Timothy Winchester. We are recording next week. Hooray! Love Elizabeth x
