Hi,
Just thought I'd mention a few words about the artist Ernie Payne who Echo Productions had the great pleasure (Although happily Accidentally) to film a couple of years back when he did his first tour of the UK.
He passed away on the 17th September from heart problems and cancer.

Ernie Payne was one of those all too rare performers who had the ability to move and take you somewhere else in his performances and music.

Although he was unfortunately not very well known, as he only released one CD very late on in his life, I personally would rate him up there with other like minded performers such as Terry Callier and Richie Havens. He definitely came from the same place as those mentioned.

When we had the chance to film him we were actually at the gig to capture Ray Stubbs who was sharing the bill with him on the night. Fortunately we were asked by Graham Anderson of the Jumpin' Hot Club as a favour and ended up filming three numbers from him. I now wish that we had filmed the whole performance as I think we may have the only documented footage of this great artist. Hopefully this footage will be around for many years to come as a tribute to him. (You can see this on our youtube channel "Echofilms").

As I said before, it's all too rare these days to come across an artist of Mr Ernie Payne's calibre and I'm glad I was there to be a small part of that.

Hey Everyone!
Just letting you know that Ramblin' Boys-A Journey,The Martin Stephenson/Charlie Poole Connection has just gone past 500 hits on Google Video! To anyone who's interested....thanks for taking the time to check this little film out.
500 hits in a few months, not bad for little film with no budget! My only gripe is..no one has bothered to leave any comments...Good or Bad we dont mind any feedback is better than none.

While I'm on here blogging, if you're a Blues fan please check out footage that we've recently been posting on our YouTube channel by clicking here.
This is some exclusive footage from our "Gettin' the Blues" documentaries which hopefully will be coming out late on this year early next... Enjoy!
Sean.

I know it's been a long time coming but I'm on the cusp of finishing off the Gypsy Dave Live DVD that we filmed at the Cluny last June. Yes it's hard to believe but it was indeed filmed last summer. I'm just trying to do a fancy trick with the buttons on the DVD design and if I can pull it off it'll be mastered tomorrow. YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all. On the verge of finishing off the Gypsy Dave project. I'm just putting the finishing touches to it, which is largely titling and crediting. Then before long I'll turn my attention to mastering onto DVD which is a job all on its own and can take quite a long time, what with the artwork to design and chapters to render and put on. At my current progress it should be available for duplication in a couple of weeks time. It'll be well worth the wait as thanks to Colm's sound work and lighting added to our camera work, it looks and sounds very impressive. Check back from time to time and I'll post updates in Echo Production's Blog section.

I thought I better vent my spleen so to speak, as I haven't blogged for about a month or so. I would like to first say that the Gyspy Dave Smith live DVD which was filmed at the Cluny in Byker last summer is now in the finishing straight and shall be mastered within the next few weeks. Gypsy's coming for a view next Tuesday and I'm quite confident he'll dig the results, especially now that the soundtrack has been attached. Top marks for Colm for some "sound" results. Working on the project makes you become a bigger fan of the music and the musician. Gypsy really is a true master of this art form. The best musicians are those that can make playing and singing look and sound effortless and at this he is indeed one of the best around. I recently bought a new MP3 player and I can now put far more songs on it than the old one and have put on some Blue's masters such as Blind Willie McTell, Lighting Hopkins, Big Bill Bronzy, Robert Johnson and the like. Dave wouldn't sound out of place alongside these Blue's masters on anyone's ipod or Sansa. When you're filming the gig it tends to be quite hard to appreciate the music. Only when you come to editing do you start to enjoy the (as the online dictionary puts it) sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.

As more blogs are being posted we hope to put accompanying photos to make them a bit more interesting. So until the next horizon Good day and I'll leave you with a sneak peak of a still from the gig.

Howdy all.

This is going to be a short one as I want to go to bed. The trailer is coming along quite well, but we've taken a break as producer Sean has got a bitch of a cold. I have however started working on Gypsy Dave's Live DVD that was recorded last year. More blogs later. B.

Howdy. This is the first in what we hope will be a regular blog on our Myspace site. Don't you sometimes think (I know I do) that how many people actually bother to read these blogs. Anyway let me not get distracted about the merits or otherwise of the medium of Blogs. We aim to put our new trailer up for Gettin' the Blues fairly soon. Probably within the next couple of weeks, as it's about 80% done so far and looking quite funky. It's been a while since I've done any editing in a major way. You end up getting into a rythmn eventually after you've had your mid morning cappocino. This is the only way of sparking your otherwise lifeless noggin into a relative state of creativity. Mentions of cappocinos will inveriably grow in the coming weeks and months. They are an essential yet simple part of life.
Yippee! It's snowing. About time too, what with the wacky weather we've been having lately. It'll be good to do a bit of filming if indeed a couple of inches have fallen. It's getting on a bit now so i'll write another blog at another time. From editor Ben Goonight.
