dutch came over last night and  recorded some upright bass parts for s few songs and then we started fucking with an odd little track i've had lying around called "rattletrap bastard"...which consisted mostly of a kick drum, washboard, cowbell and some random clanking shit.  dutch wrote a bass line and tracked it immediately.  i'll probably be laying guitars on it today if this fucking coffee ever kicks in. 

dutch will be over later to record more random metal shit clanking and scraping together.

i have some lyrics but they're not done yet, so suck it and wait.

i can't afford gas or starbucks, let alone rent or my phone bill so i'm working on an album without an advance from a label.

in other GFB news, there's a lot goin on.
we'll probably be laying low in the months of december and january with maybe one show each of those months so we can work on some serious writing.
yeah, we just got the EP out but its time to get the ball rolling on some more new music. ya'll deserve it.

so, we've been busting our asses and this thing is finally finished.
i know it looks like we've been working on this EP since february of this year but we actually scrapped everything we had done because it sounded too clean and too precise...
country and blues are fukkin' slippery and things are supposed to be able to slide on and off the beat whenever....recording to a click and then multi-tracking doesn't really allow for that.
so we set up live and re-recorded it that way.
its still muti-tracked so that we could have control over the mix but the studio portion of the EP was recorded with everyone playing together, making eye contact when necessary and feeling off of each other.

SEPTEMBER 22 IS THE OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE.

So, we were up til 1am mixing. Things are close. We mixed from 4:45pm to 1am and I didn't acrually want to break anything. Then i realized I am broke. Went home. Smashed shit. Passed out. so, i felt the need to write the other day and all of my guitars were at the practice space.

i was alone in the Lair and had nothing nearby but my Baritone Ukulele which i've had since the sixth grade.
its a little different now.
i've made a few mods so that it can be tuned top to bottom to G,D,A,E like a standard bass or the bottom four of a guitar.
then i run it trhough some amps and EQ's and a few other nasty little tricks to make it sound like THIS....

based upon some material from Misfits' "Earth A.D." album and inspired by a creepy encyclapedioa i was reading i came up with this song.

should prove to be pretty brutal live with the Family Band....

we've finished all the initial tracking for the Ghostwitch Family Band EP which still remains untitled.
basic tracks for one new song, "Nothin' But A Habit" will be recorded thursday night and i have some additional production to do at the lair.
"additional production" for me is best described simply as "creepy sounds, gunshots, floggings, guitar tracks that sound like they were faxed to the future from 1946 and are disintegrating as they arrive..."
we have achieved an irrational chemical ratio once again and things are falling into place...this recording will sound like nothing you've heard before and is the precursor to something altogether new and ugly.
due in large part to hard work and forceful effort, we are getting what we want.
this is the beginning of the end of the world.
we are taking no prisoners and embarking on a strange and wonderous new journey.

howdy. so, we're workin' on an EP of the GHOSTWITCH FAMILY BAND....
it'll be half live and half studio tracks and will contain new material written by the entire band as well as reworked full band versions of some stuff off of my solo debut.
we have a lot of stuff recorded but there's no track list just yet.
"right side of the gun" and "wastin' Time" will be featured as both live and studio tracks and the studio version of "gopher broke" is coming along nicely.
