Twin Peaks Studio is fuckin amazing. Wild, secluded and magical. The new moon showed itself to us the first evening we arrived. Adam and his talk of catching monkeys falling from trees and the stroking of imaginary donkeys made us feel jokey and relaxed which was kind of hard at first when seeing his collection of platinum and gold discs. We managed to get some good drums out of Jonny in between him sleeping, eating and other bodily neccessities and, nailed 10 tracks in two days.
What suprised us most was the cosmic psychedelia sounds that were picked out of our music - apparently we are psychedelic love punk... we always wondered what we were LOL ... hmmm...
We left Adam mixing the tracks with a grin and a crazy look in his eyes, we have since had 5 mixed tracks back with 5 more on the way...
Old fans will be suprised to hear many of our old tracks on the album but we wanted to have a record of playing them with Jonny who replaced Rich on drums 18 months ago. The album is therefore a mix of old and new tracks - some tracks haven't even been played live so hopefully there will be something there for Freaky fans old and new.
Karin Mear (Bronwen's mother) is working on an original painting for the album artwork and we hope to get the album out there sometime in early 2008.
Key songs on the album are definately YOU'RE A DRAG which just sounds really huge and unusual and also LUNAR LOVE a brand new song to make you dance and also the downbeat waltz of TOO DEAD TO DISCO.
Some of the songs will be up over the next few days - we would love to hear what you think.
keep it freaky

This review is bonkers
Album reveiw in the western telegraph 20th March 07
Witty, spiky, chaotic and cerebral
Huckabees - Freaky Fortnight (TidyLike Records) For those who like their music witty, spiky, chaotic but cerebral, look no further.
There is enough great sloganeering here to print a hundred T-shirts. My favourite? "My brain is living on borrowed time".
This rocks all aesthetic and is really quite cleverly constructed, from the endearing tone deaf singer to the early Sub-Pop chops and production values, to the conscious English accent and phrasings that explode Bjelland-like when they should.
Is this post-postmodernism? The artificial that is in fact more real than the facsimile?
No pastiche, no parody, no snafu, no foldy roll, just the dig of the neu sounds.
L.Dopa .
