While I find Jack Thompson's, (and other american activist's) arguments against the videogame industry where they call games "Murder Simulators", it does give me a convenient excuse to plug the, freely available, original GTA game. It, or rather GTA2, is far superior to that graphics-fest Vice City (the only facet of GTA3 I ever completed) in terms of pure fun-value. And it's funnier too.

Well, plugging that and I'm OK, possibly the wierdest premise for a game I've ever seen.




Personally, I must say, like many others I at first believed Thompson to be a puppet advertising games for the companies, but I've since encountered so much idiocy that I know that he's, unfortunately, probably a real person. (This is not to say that such a technique wouldn't work, it just doesn't seem necessary to fake an idiot when you can just supply one with fodder)

Anyone else read this article? It seems kinda weird to the uneducated, or even the educated, at first, but it led to a few thoughts in me: She obviously hadn't had a sex-change, because they'd have found that out with a test before she competed.

From the "abnormal chromosomes" reference the possible causes get narrowed down. Either she is XY with testerone immunity (doubtful from her masculine appearance) XXY (a relatively common genetic disorder) or Chimeric.

Going by her appearance, I would wager Chimeric as the most likely cause. Chimerism is fascinating to me, the idea that you can have more than one set of genetics governing different parts of your body. In a genetically engineered future I can imagine the power of chimerism being harnessed. As long as they keep the gonads viable-human (in case of societal collapse, or a desire for natural children) I can't see any problems with that.

Of course, this brings up another issue: Why do hardcore feminists accept the existance of female athletics contests? Do they not realise that having a female athletics is de facto stating that women couldn't win in the real athletics?

I haven't got much to add to what this guy has said about it except: The road to hell is paved not with good intentions, but with people like WATCH, who aren't actually evil, but are just that special kind of stupid that makes the world worse even with the best of intentions.

   As some of you may know, I have the habit of going out cycling for at least an hour, in unfamiliar parts of london if possible, every night.

Well, I do when I have a working bike.

Just two and a half weeks after getting my new bike I'm now gonna have to go doing serious work on it, because the front tire has been burst by someone breaking a bottle on the road.

And, which is worse, this happened when I'd just started heading home. So, it took me over an hour to push my bike home.

Which was annoying.
