good 'evenin-
just a quickie to say that the recent 45s: jack rose and the spacemen 3 / shjips split came and went in one afternoon, no kiddin'... there might be copies floating around certain mailorder set ups but for the people writing to me, my stash has long gone i'm afraid...
in fact, there's not much of anything left now- 7" by spoono and david a jaycock, and the tom carter / christian kiefer cd only now...
just posted a pic with some "up next" release info, and if anyone's interested, i'm looking into the idea of GPS T shirts.... seasonally appropriate of course but people asking nonetheless....!
oh, and they'll be a 'shindig' feature on the label soon too....
ok, more soon, dom

hey-
just gone out with this mailout for 4 x new GPS releases to mull over... drop me a line if anyone wants anything!
GPS35 Remos Third Ear 7" EP
Wonderful debut EP from Swedish, psychedelic folk mystics. Three incredible, almost eerie tracks with a 'late night, middle of the woods' feel, featuring fuzz sitar, zither as well as 6 and 12 string guitars…
Brought to you by the guys partly responsible for the recent reissue of Swedish folk legend Joakim Skogsberg's awesome "Jola Rota" album from 1971, providing you with a pointer to where these guys collective heads' lie.
300 copies on 7" vinyl only, given the usual GPS packaging treatment. Not expected to hang around long…
GPS36 Tom Baxendale "Her Ghost" 7"
Beautiful debut 45 from London singer songwriter Tom Baxendale. Ace blend of alt. country, folk and Americana, with an 'A' side rush of acoustic guitar and mandolin recalling atmospheric odes to love and loss.
The 'B' side lowers the tempo and is way more gentle, recalling perhaps, 'Gosdin Brothers' era Gene Clark.
Occasional gigging partner to previous GPS debutant Pete Greenwood.
A pressing of 300 copies in gorgeously cool orange and green tracing paper booklets, again, not expected to sit around for long…
GPS38 Crayon "A House is not a Horse" 7"
The third of the GPS debut 45s this week. Leeds based three piece Crayon offer up what some longterm GPS devotees may see as a departure to it's usual output.
Sombre synth tones and military like drum rolls give way to an infectious, startling pop rush of a chorus. Perfect pop in a nutshell. 'B' side "Milk" is a slow building, initially, glitchy electronic piece again with a cool pop sensibility as it's underbelly that soon explodes…
A fabulous record and a band to keep yr eye out for. Ace 2 piece sleeves with inserts galore- a hand numbered pressing of just 300 only.
GPS41 The Pistil Cosmos "Wandering in the Dark" CDR
This one's a beauty, a total killer 5 track CD from Frenchman Vincent Caylet, aka "The Pistil Cosmos". Having previously recorded a number of wonderful cassette and small run CDR's as "V", notably the recent awesome "The Chanting Path" on Blackest Rainbow, this new set is an absolute must for all ya space, drone folk, vuh heads out there.
Five pieces of exploratory, spectral, drone laden psychedelia, that veer from the feel of scratchy field recordings through Popol Vuh flavoured slow builders to the lo-fi noise of prime era Flying Saucer Attack. From gentle, subtle ambience to feedback drenched noise then back again.
Just 200 copies of this one, and each is dressed in beautiful duo-colour screened wallet sleeves.
Record of the week at Piccadilly Records...
