It's been a while since I've posted a blog, however I (like everybody else, so it seems) have been posting regular updates on my Twitter. So basically, for up-to-the-minute, real-time updates on everything Fleet Street Films (or me), just follow me on Twitter: www.twitter.com/novaanthony21. Now, onto some detailed, longer-than-140-characters updates: Still no word on the Head Case release date from Brain Damage Films. I was told sometime in 2010 but still waiting for the official announcement. The Ritual has been making its rounds at various film festivals over the past couple of months, including Crypticon in Minneapolis and Dark Xmas. I'll let you know when/if it plays in a city near you. The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, which is a very good sign. Post-Mortem is in both production and post-production at the same time. We're preparing for the (hopefully) final round of the inevitable re-shoots. There will actually be two different versions of the film, told from two different points of view. That's all I'm going to say at this point. From the feedback I've received so far, people who didn't enjoy Head Case really enjoyed The Ritual and vice versa. With Post-Mortem, you'll get a taste of both. The story has two entirely different perspectives and I want to reflect that in how I present the film. More on that at a later date. S.K.I.N.S. - Serial Killers In Need of Support (the Head Case Trilogy companion DVD) will be released in late December/early January. We are working on the commentary segments as we speak, so it's just a matter of scheduling recording times with the lovely and talented participants, who are all so busy and hard at work with other projects. An official announcement will be made soon on the DVD's special features, however I do know that in addition to a couple of audio commentaries (one of which is a full-length director’s commentary with yours truly), there will also be a behind-the-scenes featurette, a blooper reel, some deleted and alternate scenes, and interrogation footage. More to come soon. Stay tuned!

The sneak preview of The Ritual: Director's Cut at the 2009 Indie Gathering was a success. We had a good turnout (despite the weak timeslot) and got some great feedback.

We completely sold out of Head Case DVDs at the convention (even my own personal copies). One cannot underestimate the power of word-of-mouth and I am both honored and humbled to have written & directed a film that has affected (and/or entertained) so many people. Even on a smaller level than a big "independent" film or Hollywood production. It's still humbling. And pretty damn cool.

I'm looking forward to the official Brain Damage Films release next year and how the film will be received on an international scale.

This month's issue of Delaware Today magazine features The Ritual as part of the magazine's 'The Arts Season Preview: Let Them Entertain You' section.

Pick up a copy or see the blurb here.

The world premiere is less than a month away (September 12 @ 9 p.m. - order your tickets @ the theater – Cinema Center 3 in Newark – online ordering is coming soon). Opening the premiere is award-winning singer / songwriter Jonathan Adam Duerr, who will be performing songs from his upcoming debut album The Graybird.

On a somewhat related note, I started editing together some footage from Post-Mortem. Wow. I am so excited about this film and its emotional impact. I was there directing it and watching it all put together is a different experience entirely. I think Head Case fans will be pleased with what we came up for the final film in the trilogy.

One more thing - S.K.I.N.S. (Serial Killers In Need of Support) is being expanded to be a companion DVD for the entire Head Case trilogy (Head Case, The Ritual, and Post-Mortem). The release date has been delayed but I promise that it's all for a good cause.

That's it for now. More will be coming soon...

I am one day removed from seeing ATB @ Pacha NYC - an amazing show indeed (and according to Andre himself, per his Twitter, the gig of his life). I'm already counting down until his next show, whenever that may be (though it was almost exactly one year between shows at Pacha in '08 and '09 so we'll see).

Now onto some updates from Fleet Street.

The Brain Damage Films release of Head Case is still pending. Not sure when that's happening, but I've been in contact with them and it's coming soon. Stay tuned.

I am working on a Limited Edition DVD set featuring 2 alternate versions of Head Case (appropriately titled "Head Case: The Alternate Cuts"), one being the 2008 Festival Cut and the other being the original 2007 World Premiere Cut. Both versions are far different from the official BDF release. The DVD will be a two-disc set containing commentaries recorded specifically for the 2008 Festival Cut, during the film festival run.

This DVD set will only be available through Fleet Street Films.

This is not to say that you shouldn't buy the official Brain Damage Films release (you should, trust me...the livelihood of a filmmaker depends on residuals), but for you few die-hards out there, the Head Case: The Alternate Cuts DVD set will be a nice addition to your collection.

(Head Case will also be a part of the all-new "The Vault" series - a more extensive behind-the-scenes look at the making of various Fleet Street Films productions - more on that later)

A sneak preview screening of The Ritual is coming within the next couple of months - prior to the official world premiere @ the Newark Film Festival in September. Details pending. The tentative date for the premiere is Friday, 9/11 - though I still need to get final confirmation.

I realize much of this news is tentative or contingent upon final comfirmation, but as soon as I get more news, you'll know about it!

One final note: I tend to work better behind the camera rather than in front of that - and that extends to print and radio (I'd much rather be interviewed in print or on the radio rather than on TV) - so I am thinking about possibly starting the official Anthony Spadaccini podcast. It really depends on whether or not I have the time and energy to devote to weekly "episodes" (or whatever you call them) - however multiple people keep telling me to start one, so we'll see. Seems like we're always connected, doesn't it?

Bedtime. More later. G'nite.

I will keep this brief, as I am fighting fatigue after a pretty fun-filled yet draining weekend.

However, the Wrap Party on Saturday night was an absolutely incredible experience. I was running around all over the place (like I usually am at these types of events) but it was all worth it. The turnout was great - cast & crew came from all over to celebrate (and make a toast to) the DVD release of HEAD CASE, as well as wrapping principal photography on the sequel THE RITUAL and its companion film S.K.I.N.S. - SERIAL KILLERS IN NEED OF SUPPORT.

A 30-minute extended preview of THE RITUAL was also shown. Several rounds of applause followed. I think everyone (including myself) was surprised with how well it turned out. While there's still some editing that needs to be done, a vast majority of THE RITUAL is completed.

There will be at least two separate versions of THE RITUAL. One will be my director's cut and the other will be the festival or theatrical cut, which may include some re-arrangement of scenes here and there. A rough cut of THE RITUAL has been sent to a couple of critics who loved HEAD CASE, so we'll see how it goes.

I'll tell you one thing: THE RITUAL is definitely not a horror film. I'd consider it much more of a drama than a horror film. It's vastly different from HEAD CASE, but I firmly believe that it can stand on its own.

Clips from THE RITUAL, S.K.I.N.S., Cinema Wasteland, and the Wrap Party will be up on YouTube in the upcoming weeks.

However, that's it for now. I'm off to bed. I'm beat.

Life has been very hectic recently (like it isn't always...) and plus I had been fighting bronchitis (or what was supposed to be bronchitis, though it seemed to have lasted longer than it should've) - however, I wanted to give a brief update as to what's going on with the HEAD CASE official DVD release.

I cannot give specific details just yet, but HEAD CASE will in fact be seeing its official DVD release sometime very soon. Not sure what the timeframe will be, but a deal is already
in place - so I'm just awaiting the official word.

So those who have asked about it - it's definitely happening soon.

Stay tuned!
