He first charmed his way into our hearts ten years ago when he was launched by ABS-CBN as part of Star Circle Batch 4. He soared to stardom before long – making it to magazine covers, bagging major product endorsements and topbilling hit teleseryes and movies alike.

Jericho Rosales has indeed gone a long way. From being a teen heartthrob, he rose to become one of the most bankable actors in his generation. He went on to prove his innate talent through his numerous TV and film projects that have endeared him to the hearts of the public and earned for him enviable acting awards.

Last year, Echo took a ten-month leave from acting and embarked on a singing career. He formed a band called Jeans, which launched a 14-track album, "Loose Fit," their first under EMI Records. The album was also launched in Malaysia and will likewise be released in other parts of Asia. The group is now promoting their second single, "Tuwing Nakikita Ka," with a music video which Echo himself directed.

Now that he is marking his tenth year in the business, Echo cannot be thankful enough for every good thing that has come his way lately. As part of his 10th anniversary celebration, Echo will hold a two-night concert, "Raw Energy," on Oct. 18 and 19 at 8p.m. at the Music Museum. The show will feature Echo's band Jeans and pop icon Gary Valenciano and Gabriel Valenciano, plus other surprise guests.

"Raw Energy" traces Echo's successful first decade in show business, from being an actor to a certified musical artist. The concert is jointly being mounted by Echo's Silver Moon Production and GV Productions, Inc. (GVPI). Both Echo and Gary will do co-directing chores.

Echo looks up to Gary as his mentor and strong musical influence. Inevitably, Echo sometimes gets compared to the more seasoned concert artist. Yet, Echo denies he's copying Gary V. "He is a big pillar and a great influence to express myself in singing and dancing," says Echo of his musical idol. "I'm still on the raw side to be compared to a seasoned performer like Gary."

In the concert, Echo is expected to dish out a varied repertoire, from pop-jazz to alternative rock, funky and groovy hits of the '80s, present favorites and Jeans originals. The concert is presented by Penshoppe in cooperation with ABS-CBN, Asap'07, Magic 89.9, 96.3 WRock,101.9 For Life, Decs Plaza, Belo Medical Group. The official music channel is MYX.  Proceeds of the concert will go to a scholarship program for Bicol through the Shining Light Foundation.

Tickets at P1,500, P1,200, P1,000, P800 and P600 are available at GENESIS (7214405 local 104, 105, and 109, cellphone 0920-2274425), Ticketworld (891-9999), and at the Music Museum (721-6726) as well as at National Bookstore branches, Robinson's Department Stores (Galleria and Malate), Greenbelt 1 and Glorietta 1  Ticketbooths.

Jericho is being managed by Manila Genesis Entertainment and Management, Inc.

I was at the Switchfoot concert last Monday (Sept. 10) and I tell you it was amazing! I've got a really busy month coming up, with my birthday on the 22nd and shooting for Pangarap na Bituin.

I just want to let you know I have a concert coming up next month. I will be performing at the Music Museum on October 18 and 19 with Jeans and other surprise guests. And of course, with the special participation of Mr. Gary Valenciano!

After months of watching Pangako Sa 'Yo and Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas dubbed in English, the locals of Ghana, Africa finally had the thrill of seeing Jericho Rosales live in the flesh as he performed as the main act in the 50th Independence Anniversary festivities at the National Theatre (Accra, Ghana), giving Ghanaians more reason to celebrate last March 6, 2007.

"Their reaction to his visit was nothing short of wild hysteria, matching the excitement of the visits of Thalia, Pope John Paul II and F4," enthused Jericho's Management Associate, Marinez Elizalde of Manila Genesis Entertainment and Management.  "People showed up at the airport, along the streets, en route to the hotel and every place that Jericho would go.  We were both so shocked.  Even little kids would run to him and give him hugs and handshakes. It was amazing!"  she added.

The alternate chanting and shrieking of "Christian!" and "Angelo!" (the characters Jericho played on Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas and Pangako Sa 'Yo respectively) by the frenzied mob clearly certified the 2 teleseryes as smash hits in Ghana.  "People would drop everything just to watch these shows, and have clamored for more Jericho's shows to be aired!", reported Janet Carboo-Danquah, Manager for Public Relations of Ghana's local TV3 Network.

Arranged by the promoter, Dzigbodi Attotey of  N.A.G. Media Ltd., Jericho appeared on Ghana local television programs Music Music and Start where he promoted his album, and talked about the Philippines in interviews.  Local radio stations committed to airplay songs from his album: JEANS LOOSE FIT  (distributed by EMI Records).

At showtime, which also featured Ghanaian award winners Batman Samini, Ofori Amposnsah and Ebo, pandemonium broke out at Jericho's initial appearance on stage rendering NIGHTSKY, a cut from his album.  Displaying his versatility as a singer apart from being an actor, Jericho's energy soared higher with his dynamic performance of MR. MART, yet another cut from the same album, as the cheering African audience rocked the theater.  The only cover in his repertoire that night was John Legend's ORDINARY PEOPLE, which he dedicated to the appreciative crowd with an encouraging message that no matter what one's stature in life was, "you and I are all ordinary people."

Back home in high spirits, Enpres' and PMPC Star Awards' Best Actor nominee Jericho (for the movie Pacquiao) is getting ready to act again as he prepares for projects lined up for him by his home studio ABS-CBN.  After turning down about six soap operas, a couple of film offers and going on a self-imposed hiatus, he is preparing to hit the television screen again this year with several television assignments being offered to him.

In the music gig arena, together with his band Jeans, Jericho takes to the malls once more in the second leg of their album promotional tour featuring the second single TUWING NAKIKITA KA.  Get a chance to catch Jericho up close and hear him live at Robinsons Dasmarinas (March 18), SM Sta. Mesa (March 24), and SM Southmall (March 25) at 4pm. Sponsored by Penshoppe and Walker and produced by Manila Genesis in partnership with Silvermoon Productions, other performances include bar concerts beginning with Ratsky Malate on March 15, 22, and 29 at 10 pm.
