Spur McGuffin was one of the first artist-groups worldwide to use the possibilities of interactive media and especially of the internet in their work. Performances and lectures in art galleries, universities and museums are equally important as performances at media festivals and in the clubscene.

069recorded is a communication laboratory that works on political language. To do so 069recorded have use, also the hacking way, destructuring words and languages, mixing and matching situations and concept and practices; for reinventing the political language and for being more incisive on a vast level of communication. 069recorded was the first recorder managed by women in Germany (in an independent social center in Frankfurt), but it is also a hyper-place scattered with links, a circuit with which to inract that brings to other circuits. The Comicritique studies are directed by Prof. Zampa di Leone, who definied
Comicritique No. 1 as "The best surprise is no suprise ..." (e-flux), while the

ANNOUNCEMENT
The 24th edition of the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival is going to take place from November 13 to 18, 2007. On six days the festival presents about 220 international documentary films as well as experimental and artistic works. Moreover, the media art exhibition MONITORING, the DokfestLounge with audiovisual performances and the interfiction symposium do top off the festival program. Having this profile the Kasseler Dokfest annually attracts both a regional audience as well as professionals of the film and media industry from Germany, Europe and the rest of the world.
We invite all artists, filmmakers, distributors, gallery owners, universities or institutions to submit latest works and projects to the different sections of the festival program. Deadline for entries is August 1, 2007.

DOCUMENTARYFILMVIDEOART
The documentary film traditionally makes up the heart of the festival. Thus, the festival puts its main emphasis on films and videos exploring their subject by documentary means. The festival is also interested in experimental and artistic works expressing an individual approach. There is no restriction in terms of the running time of submitted
works.

MONITORING
The exhibition MONITORING is devoted to contemporary space-oriented media art. 15 media installations and sculptures are selected among the entries and displayed at Kassel KulturBahnhof during the festival. The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Kasseler Kunstverein and the documenta Archive of the City of Kassel.

AUDIOVISUAL PERFORMANCE
The lounge of the festival presents a program of audiovisual performances and VJart. This section is calling for live visuals, audiovisual performance concepts, Live Cinema, sound performances and any kind of experiments, produced in analog or digital media.

INTERFICTION
This year's interfiction symposium (with lectures, presentations and workshop-sessions) will focus on "PATCH_WORK: art, culture and knowledge production between commons and DRM". Artists, video- and filmmakers, researchers, curators, writers, activists and others interested in transdisciplinary exchange on the related issues are invited to join the conference and to discuss their ideas and projects. AWARDS
A selection of the presented films and art works of the festival program will be nominated for one of the four awards. The festival seeks to support the best documentary submitted by a young director. Therefore, the City of Kassel endows € 5,000 for the "Golden Key" award. The newspaper HNA awards an outstanding production from the region of Northern Hesse with its "Golden Hercules", worth € 2,500. This year, Micromata Objects GmbH, a Kassel located Software Company, supports the "Golden Cube" with € 2,500 in prize money, which is awarded to the best installation of the exhibition MONITORING. Moreover, the festival and the Werkleitz Gesellschaft present the project grant "A38". The three-month artist-in-residence grant, worth € 4,000 and additionally € 4,000 for allowance in kind, is funded by the Austauschfonds Ost-West of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes.

SPLICE IN
The 24th Kassel Documentary Film & Video Festival presents the special program "/splice in/" curated by Elfe Brandenburger and Sandra Schäfer. Proceeding from the specific situation of film production in Afghanistan, "/splice in/" enquires into the representation of gender relations in current film productions, particularly the first films made by women, but also in historical films from the archive Afghan Film and brings them together with filmic and political methods from Iran, India, Pakistan and Europe. AUSSCHREIBUNG
Vom 13. – 18. November 2007 findet in Kassel das 24. Dokumentarfilm- und Videofest statt. An sechs Festivaltagen kommen ca. 220 internationale Dokumentarfilme sowie experimentelle und künstlerische Arbeiten zur Aufführung. Das Festival präsentiert darüber hinaus die Medienkunstausstellung MONITORING, die DokfestLounge mit audiovisuellen Performances und die Fachtagung interfiction. Mit diesem Profil ist das Dokfest einzigartig in Hessen und wird im Herbst alljährlich zum Treffpunkt für sowohl ein regionales Publikum, wie auch Film- und Medienschaffende aus Deutschland, Europa und der ganzen Welt.
Wir laden ab sofort alle Künstler, Filmemacher, Verleiher, Galeristen, Hochschulen oder Institutionen ein, sich mit neuen Arbeiten und Projekten für die einzelnen Sektionen des Festivalprogramms zu bewerben. Einsendeschluss ist der 1. August 2007.

DOKUMENTARFILMVIDEOKUNST
Der Dokumentarfilm ist für das Festival Tradition und Selbstverständnis. Ein starker Fokus liegt daher auf aktuellen Filmen und Videos, die ihre Themen mit dokumentarischen Mitteln untersuchen. Ebenso interessieren wir uns für experimentelle und künstlerische Arbeiten mit individueller Handschrift. Arbeiten jeder Länge sind zur Einreichung zugelassen.

MONITORING
Die Ausstellung MONITORING befasst sich mit zeitgenössischen, raumbezogenen Positionen der Medienkunst. Aus den Einreichungen werden 15 Medieninstallationen und -skulpturen ausgewählt, die während des Festivals im KulturBahnhof präsentiert werden. Die Ausstellung wird in Kooperation mit dem Kasseler Kunstverein und dem Kulturdezernat/documenta Archiv der Stadt Kassel veranstaltet.

AUDIOVISUELLE PERFORMANCE
Die Lounge des Festivals zeigt ein Programm von audiovisuellen Performances und VJ-Kunst. Zur Einreichung eingeladen sind Live-Konzepte für Bewegtbild und Musik, Soundperformances, Live Visuals, VJing und jede Art von Experimenten, in analogen oder digitalen Medien.

INTERFICTION
Die interfiction-Tagung mit Vorträgen, Präsentationen und Workshops widmet sich in diesem Jahr unter dem Titel „PATCH_WORK: Auf welchen Grundlagen arbeiten?" der Kunst-, Kultur- und Wissensproduktion zwischen Commons und DRM. An einem transdisziplinären Austausch interessierte Künstler/innen, Video- und Filmemacher/innen, Vermittler/innen, (Netz-)Kultur-Theoretiker/innen und -Praktiker/innen sind dazu eingeladen, im Rahmen der Tagung Thesen und Projekte zum Thema vorzustellen und zu diskutieren. PREISE
Eine Auswahl der im Festivalprogramm präsentierten Arbeiten wird für einen der vier Preise nominiert. Das Bemühen des Festivals um den filmischen Nachwuchs findet in dem durch die Stadt Kassel geförderten „Goldenen Schlüssel" für die beste dokumentarische Nachwuchsarbeit seinen Ausdruck. Die Preissumme beträgt 5.000 €. Die Tageszeitung HNA vergibt den mit 2.500 € dotierten „Goldenen Herkules" für eine herausragende nordhessische Produktion. Die beste Installation der Ausstellung MONITORING wird mit dem „Golden Cube" und 2.500 € ausgezeichnet. Dieser Preis wird in diesem Jahr von dem Kasseler Softwareunternehmen Micromata Objects GmbH gestiftet. Das Festival vergibt zudem gemeinsam mit der Werkleitz Gesellschaft das Produktions-Stipendium „A38".
