Well Joe just left for LA. Seb Farley and Tim are on the Vineyard for a little while longer. Laura is going to visit family in Toronto. We played a festival on the Aquinnah cliffs with 900 close friends. It was music magic. It was a fundraiser for a local non-profit radio station. Everyone had such a good time, people were happy drinking cold bevs and watching native american drumming, classic and modern folk, Brooklyn ass kick rock, Vineyard beautiful people music...I can't tell you how rad it was You all need to come next year cause Jim is gonna do it again and even bigger. I just decided life is too short to sit on unreleased music so I posted 3 new demo's. We have been recording and writing with new friends like it always goes. This is where we are. The good folks at MTV have chosen our song "I love you mother nature" to play during the real world episode tonight at 10. I think this could be our big break...!

I've been revisiting some of the first demos we ever recorded as a band, what seems like endless summers ago, when we latched on to late nights, and what at the time seemed like senseless or directionless (word?) song-writing. That's how we started writing the music that eventually became our first, now out album "Really Real For Forever. We had all played together before, in various forms, in bands with different names...
But something about this particular dynamic, at this particular time worked in a way that we didn't take in at the time. We wrote while our friends partied around us, and as we partied with them. Whoever was around in the moment sang or played or carried on a conversation as we recorded.
When we decided to actually become a band, and play those songs-we struggled; mostly because the recording process had nothing to do with the actually playing..but how could you not? How badly do I want to hear a band play live the song I heard on the radio first?
I guess I'm thinking of these things because we have started recording new songs for the first time since back in summer '05. And now we're a band. We have been through shit together, have fought to stay together..I know one day we will release those original demos, because they are beautiful, and important to who we are now. I think what we want to do now, is to be thoughtful, and focused, maybe less wordy(?) while still going by our original rule, which is that there are no rules. I can't wait to share the new. But for now, I found one of the little ones that didn't make it on the album (Autograph). It didn't cut it. I sound young, to me. But I think it's fun to share. I have others, let me know if you want to hear something you like from the album-the first time we did it. It's fun.
We're playing at Spaceland on Wednesday (May 28th), let me know if your coming so I can put you on the list and invite you to my houseparty after. If you're on the East Coast, write me anyway, cause I miss you, and we're coming to hang with you in like a month..it has been too fucking long.

Hey guys!
So the deal with The Hotel Cafe tonight is that the Dr. Dog show is sold out...we are still working out a list situation with the club so let us know if your'e coming!
We play after them, so if you can't make it out early, there probably won't be a problem getting in a bit later!

We also have another Spaceland show coming up in two weeks--we'll keep you posted on the details!

On another note completely, sometimes when I'm talking about shows and other fun things we all get to do, I'm struck by the contrast of other people's lives being in such turmoil, especially this week.

We kinda fell off the face of the Earth for a week didn't we?
But we have a lot in the works! First we have the Hotel Cafe show with Dr.Dog (we love that band) tomorrow night--we heard a rumour that the show is sold out, but we're figuring out a list situation and we'll keep you posted.
We have also started planning a trip back to the East Coast this summer--with dates in New York, Boston and Martha's Vineyard---somewhere around mid-July we haven't been home in sooo long...!
