From ABSOLUTE POWERPOP -

Early Edison - Better Late Than Never. Speaking of high-energy, here's a great disc in the vein of recent discoveries like The Fizzies and The ACBs as well as the Rooneys and Weezers of the world. They can do the driving anthems like anyone else, but what sets them apart is their work on the numbers that slow down a notch or two like "Since I Left You", "Wish You Were Mine" and my personal favorite, the closer "White Socks". It's never too late to give these NY power poppers a listen.

Here are a couple reviews of our short film/video "Wish You Were Mine" -

Pretty-Scary.net (by Bunny Spiegelman) -

Wish You Were Mine directed by Tom Wendling - Tom Wendling approached this music video like a movie, and it shows. This music video, to the song "Wish You Were Mine" by Early Edison, is an homage to the Bride of Frankenstein. One of the things I like about this film is that it proves that a simple film well done can be infinitely more effective than a film loaded down with needless and confusing twists.

The doctor (played by lead singer Tom Ashton) is overwhelmed with sadness over the death of his wife until he has the idea to send Igor (played by director and band member Tom Wendling) into the cemetery for body parts to rebuild his lost love. The film successfully captures the feel of silent films with dialogue cards, models of the castle and cemetery, and a beautiful sense of black and white cinematography. The close up of the eyes during the resurrection sequence is a direct homage to the Bride of Frankenstein and recalls the wide terrified eyes of Elsa Lanchester. The loveliest shot in the film features the resurrected bride in a white dress with ethereal backlighting. It gives the film a creepy and unsettling end to this tale of endless and obsessive love.

IndieExpress.com (by Marleah Martin) -

A music video with a cinematic approach, Wish You Were Mine is based on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. A doctor mourning the death of his wife stumbles upon an idea on how to bring her back to life- and proceeds to assemble body parts from a cemetery in hopes to recreate her.

With the look and feel of a silent film (complete with title cards and a highly expressive style of acting), Wish You Were Mine is notable for its lovely cinematography and art direction, not to mention the simple but catchy power-pop tune that accompanies it.

We know the story, and therefore know the doctor will certainly fail. The juxtaposition between this and the intense emphasis given to the doctor's obsession aptly captures the tragic element of a familiar tale.

So we filmed the video/short film for "Wish You Were Mine" this past weekend and it was such a great experience!  Tom Wendling made his directorial debut and it couldn't have gone any better!  We had an incredible cast and crew and everything ran so smoothly - thanks especially to our fearless producer Jordan Cooke.  Major props go out to the rest of our hard working, generous and talented production team - Rommel Genciana (director of photography), Rose Barrett (art director/wardrobe/makeup/miniature-animator), Zita Vasilisinova (first assistant director), Nick Vega, Paul (I-forgot-your-last-name-but-we'll-get-it-right-in-the-final-credits), Yae Mitomi, Andrea (I-also-forgot-your-last-name-but-we'll-also-get-it-right-in-the-final-credits) and everyone else who helped work crew and set construction.

A million thanks go to actress Kat Wisener (who ironically enough has a website called - www.katwisener.com) for perfectly portraying the mortally-challenged leading lady in this production.  Very special thanks go to Matt Hogan for being the coolest gravedigger in a movie/music video. And of course we've gotta throw some love to Steve O'Donnell - videographer, gravedigger and official ambassador of good will on this shoot.  Special thanks go to Peter A. Jackson at Hunter College for use of facilities and soundstage!

The project is now in the hands of Tai, who has begun editing and we hope to have the final cut up and running in September!  Come back and visit to see some pics soon!
