Due to several reasons our website (www.izegrim.nl) has been under maintenance for some time.

During that time our focus shifted towards our Myspace-site. However, judging the amount of hits we get on this .NL-domain, we've put it back online with a new design !

As from today this site will be updated again, to keep you informed about our schemes, propaganda, our upcoming campaigns and many more.

NECKBREAKER (DE)

(Tutti) Bewertung: 7,5 / 10

QUINTESSENCE (NL)
Zutphen’s Izegrim continues their tradition of alternating full lengths with EPs with the release of “Point Of No Return”, their second release on Rusty Cage Records. My last exposure to the band was at the time of the release of their debut “Guidelines To Genocide”. Apart from changes in the line-up and the 2 releases that came out since, the band still sounds pretty recognizable. The Thrash Metal still thrives, although it’s clear that time has strengthened the band sound and song-writing ability.

Excellent groove and rhythm are joined by cool melodies, and in ‘End Of Time’ and ‘Angel Of Demise’ one can even detect traces of the epic influence of a band such as Bolt Thrower. All four tracks on the EP are cool Thrashing anthems, though the structure of the songs is somewhat predictable. Still, if you value the band for their ability to groove, “Point Of No Return” will not disappoint you!

LORDSOFMETAL (NL)

POWEROFMETAL (DK)
Besides the very well-known thrash combo's out of Holland, there are also some others that will be knocking on the door; Izegrim is one of them. Former vocalist Kristien left the band and Marloes (also bass) picked up the vocals and she does that with style. With this blond grunter at the wheel there is similarities with Arch Enemy. To let the world know they are still alive, they release this 4-track mini CD.

I must say that I'm impressed. Not only by Marloes's vocals, but also by the songs. Good balanced thrash songs, well arranged and sometimes very catchy. The mini CD starts with "Angel of Demise", not a new written song, but a re-recorded track from their album 'Guidelines for Genocide'. I must admit that the song sounds better and has more balls. The three new songs are leaving nothing to be desired; Izegrim is back and I'm looking forward to a new complete album.

KRONOSMORTUS (HU)
This Dutch band - Bart (guitar), Ivo (drums), Jeroen (guitar) és Marloes (vocals, bass) – was formed back in 1996. They have quite a lot of releases - „1997” promo 1997, „Most Evil” demo 1998, „Bird Of Prey” EP 1999, „2002” promo, and „Guidelines For Genocide” CD 2002, „New World Order” EP 2005, „Tribute To Totalitarianism” CD 2008- and gigs behind their back. They’re playing on the field of thrash/death metal, and the female vocals may strange at first. Take a listen to it.

The title track opens with heavy crushing, the technical parts fit the typical base well, and Marco brings raspy, growling vocals to the dynamic drifting of rhythm instruments. The structure is well-built, it has dynamics all the way, and the themes do not either turn to too empty or stereotyped. No Place Like Home is rather built on thrash metal, at least it’s reflected by the whole track. The metal-oriented music here and there shows signs of progressive elements, but the determined vocals coming on the heavy, hard themes make the armada of riffs even more enjoyable and destructive.

End Of Time isn’t any lighter either than the previous tracks though the pace is a bit slower but it’s no problem. It’s also an energetic, unique track composed in the vein of oldschool thrash and death metal. Here, as previously, progressive parts come up again among the themes and this mixture makes the whole unique. Every instrument plays its best. The last song is titled Angel Of Demise. It opens with a marching theme, and with prolonged guitar sounds, and the demonic nature of the vocals brings forth even more the dark mood. The playing is technical, with well thought-out parts, heavy, morbid rhythms, as the song crushes everything with its killing rage. Recommended for the fans, especially for those into progressive thrash/death metal.

DAWNRADIO (DE)
