Nowt new. Just moved this video to here so as not to scare people off my profile. I've been writing and illustrating comedy monologues for many years but I usually get other people to perform them. You'll have heard Bernard Wrigley and Bill Maynard on Radio probably. This is my own attempt at doing one - in my native Geordie. You can see why I get other people to record them!!

And no, the chair's not for sale. (The Toon top might be though!!)

One of my monologues. This is from the second book 'More Fairly Truthful Tales' available from my website www.garyhogg.co.uk>

Hi everyone
A result from MySpace! See my earlier blogs re: torrent sites downloading work WE have created without payment.
I complained to MySpace about the fact that the torrentreactor site had page and a link on MySpace and over 2000 'Friends' So they removed the site. From MySpace anyway. Please be alert for it reappearing under a different name offering free downloads of photos and videos - it's really a music download site and is ripping off us musicians, composers and lyricists!

So thank you MySpace for getting rid of these talentless parasites!

We just need to lobby more important bodies to have torrentreactor and similar sites removed from the WWW

Fair Play for Creators was set up in response to Google’s announcement to block ‘premium’ music content to UK users on its YouTube site, because it didn’t want to pay the going rate for music.
Those of us who earn our livings by being creative and entertaining others should not be ripped off by big businesses that don't pay their dues!

I was horrified today to find a site called torrentreactor had helped in downloading one of my albums over 1200 times. For nowt! I'm living hand to mouth here and am in danger of having to sell my beloved guitar to pay the rent.

And what disgusts me even more is that these people have a page on MySpace! Surely MySpace is a community that supports, musicians, lyricists and composers - not rip them off by encouraging P2P activities.

What can I do? Any good lawyers out there?

I've just uploaded some pictures of my beautiful Lowden Guitar (Look in My Photos)  It's very unique. I bought it in 1988 direct from the UK sales rep. It was one of his demonstration models and was made by George himself in Bangor. I contacted George about its origin recently and it appears that he stuck the wrong label in! It says S-25 and it's clearly not. It's more like the L25 of its day. I'm not even sure if they made an S model back then, in fact, I've just found this in a George Lowden interview:

The very first prototype of the S model that I made which was for Nick Webb back in the early 90s had a beautifully soft voice. Very, very soft, very warm, very clear.

This guitar is massive! Sounds amazing and is lusted after by many musicians. It was recently checked over and set up by respected luthier Terry Docherty who assured me it's as intact today as it was twenty years ago. The surprising thing about this particular model is it sounds great with fingerpicks or a flat pick.

I have been offered large sums of money for it in the past but have always resisted. However, ill health means I may have to part with it some day.
But it would have to be for a pretty serious amount of money! As well as being a fantastic example of George Lowden's craft - and a collectors item - It's the best sounding Lowden I've heard.
