Harmonious Discord 017 PointBender- Sifting Through Circuits 1. No Kiss 2. Sly Operator 3. Vibe Monster 4. Tv Pill 5. Hero Belt 6. The Red Eye[ http://soundcloud.com/pointbender/sets/pointbender-sifting-through-circuitshttp://www.beatport.com/labels/harmonious_discordHarmonious Discord is proud to present the debut album from Grey music member and label front-man Sean Anderson aka PointBender. In early 2007 Sean started performing a loopy, fun, improve based live performance act that was focused on very basic techno music with an underlying twist of sharpness and tech accents. A lot of the early song creations came from experiments that Sean had during his live shows. In 2008, Sean decided to make PointBender his main music project and from that came a string of Ep’s, remixes, and live shows. Much like the label, the project kept true to estranged noises and complex soundscapes that culminate into an overall dance-floor experience like no other. This album covers all shades of PointBender, from deep offerings that explode in headphones to dance floor rompers that tingle with insanity. No Kiss starts us off with a super moody interlude that draws you in. Do not operate machinery while this ones on, a nice sci-fi beginning to the LP. Sly Operator swoops in to shake you back to life with some punchy Plastic City-ish tech house and moogy lead synth line which pierces the midnight air. Vibe Monster is another hip shaker with cascading vibe trills and bouncy bass that steps up and down to pierce your center of gravity. Vibe Monster breaks into swirls of drunken Rhodes conversations that get vacuumed into the return of the smooth beat and bass line. TV Pill features the return on Grey vocalist and purveyor off all things creepy Professor Diabolicas. A homage to the hours wasted away staring at flashy images displayed by everyone’s favorite vacuum tube. Tv Pill is a techno floor banger with lots of disruptive static and thick rigid bass tones. This tune reminds us all the bliss gained by turning our brain off and embracing the moving picture images. Hero Belt takes us from Detroit to Berlin by way of a 303 reminiscent undertow groove and driving closed hi-hat and dubby repetitive keys. The Red Eye is pure Berlin-ish bliss with hypnotic repetitive tones in different octaves and a punchy bass. It has a tenseness to it and is definitely a building, moody bitch. It’s a walk down a dark hallway with things jumping out at you. One for you Coccoon Rec fans. PointBender (Harmonious Discord/Guidance/Chalant) http://www.pointbender.com Pointbender is the solo project of Grey (Guidance/Fair Park/MVM) music member and Harmonious Discord label owner Sean Anderson. In 2000, Sean began producing tracks with Eric Reeves under the “Grey” moniker. In 2002, Grey released their first project on the highly acclaimed label “Guidance”– a release that was featured on Miami CSI, MTV’s Road Rules and the Real World. Less than a year later, Grey would open up for John Tejeda at the Homebar and release 5 singles on various imprints. Grey continued to release tracks between 2003 and 2006 on Blunted Funk, Deepness, Boogie Basics, and their own label, Harmonious Discord. A move to Austin prompted Sean to start producing under Pointbender as an outlet for simple/fun techno music focused on analog devices and strange dissonance. Sean Anderson’s various music projects have been performed around the world to cities including Toronto, Helsinki, Marseilles, London, Berlin, LA, San Francisco, New York, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Miami, Detroit, Chicago, and all over Texas. Although considered “tech house” by most, Pointbender’s Live PA performances incorporate a wide range of electronica genres and styles–from techno to house to minimal– that blend seamlessly to create what he calls “epic nonsense.” Up Next: HD018- Discordian Dreaming 3 (Patchen, John Walker, AllenMD, Chakaharta, Elevotion) HD019- KiloWatts- Nocturnal Sunrise HD020- Chakaharta- Super Broker

"In the early morning am hours in Dallas Tx 1996, there was a mysterious and historic road tucked away from the bustling city chaos. It was in this place that the earliest house and techno sounds were heard by area residents and the Eire, hypnotic vibe of the surroundings created the illusion of stepping into another world. Among those to experience these nights of insanity was a young James Watts. Nearly 12 years later he has captured the essence of this legendary place in a spaced out Techno trembler. Luna Rd. uses floating vibes to travel the listener to the outer reaches while increasing energy propels the rhythm into an intense workout. To further drive this project to abstraction, we invited HD label artist Molecule to bring his digitally de-constructive vision to the EP. The RTFM Mix is packed with creepy spacial abnormalities and sharp glitchy noises. His Wrong Turn Mix starts right into a wave of chaos as synths, drones, and tones collide to create pure dance-floor insanity. As a special Beatport exclusive, we have included another jamming tune by Mr. Watts called "The Grog". The Grog jacks with subversive synth syncopation and killer bass swells till halfway through when the bass explodes into a myriad of rocking riffs with crunchy filters and Star Wars esk mechanic noises.

He has been featured on prestigious labels such as Om, DirtyBird, Native State, and Holophonic; and rocked events world-wide. With 4 full length albums and a huge collection of ep's and remixes KiloWatts has crafted his own unique sound that is translating to dance-floors and expert ears alike.
Molecule- Bending rules by bending sound, Molecule's diverse work is directly related to his deep understanding and training on multiple instruments in various forms of music. Also a professional Sound Designer, Molecule's releases push sonic boundaries and carve new paths into the trails electro, techno, and electronic music. His live dj sets and live pa performances focus on bringing new and interesting collections of frequency to the dance floor for a new generation.
Reviews:
"Another stunning release for both HD and Kilowatts! I love the originals the most, especially the title cut. I'll be playing both this weekend and then some. Heat!!!"
-Alland Byallo | Nightlight Music, [KONTROL], Utensil Recordings
"Nice electronic stuff!"
-Patrick Turner | Bluem, Movim
"This is the best stuff anyone has sent me in awhile"
-Dave Pezzner | Classic, Freerange
"Another gem from Harmonious Discord!! I always love the diversity and edginess that this label brings to the scene. That's what it is all about in my opinion, pushing the limit rather than 'playing it safe'. My favorite track on this release would be the Molecule RTFM Remix. I love the way the synths meld in and out of each other, and then to put the nail in the coffin a fatty bassline hammers it home. Great stuff once again from Kilowatts and Harmonious Discord crew. 9/10"

Luna appears to be a brilliant golden house inhabited by a smiling nuclear family, but listen closer- there is a deep and disturbing thread running along its crooked spine. The beats of sunshine are breaking down against an ominous background of inky clouds, and a slight smell of doom leaks from the happy surface. You peer through the deformed windows and see that the family is a really a group of robots whose faces have been eaten away. They kidnap you willingly into their tech-house orgy with delicate fingers and you dance, paying no attention to the rattling bugs in the floors or the throbbing cracks on the walls. With each successive remix you are pulled further and with less choice into a twisted space, into an enchanting realm of distortion. Dark yet danceable, intense and dominating, Luna leaves you standing on a beach looking up into the night sky, an ocean wave of static washing over you with your heart racing like you just took your pants off. You look in a mirror and realize with eager acceptance that your face has been eaten away.
The Grog materializes in your chest before you can comprehend that the sound is in fact crawling into your brain through your ears. You are lured into the world of this prehistoric creature that comes from the black matter of outer space, drawn willingly into its home of chunky primordial soup before you can even take a breath. The fat slap of a tongue bounces off your skin, and you realize that something is licking you. All of a sudden you are sliding sideways through a leafy electronic world, traveling along with this strange sonic being who is feverishly hunting the unknown along the psychedelic asphalt path. The choppy, smacking beats drip off your elbows and you realize you are soaking wet; just at that moment the creature sinks its scratchy teeth into your slime-covered flesh, and you disappear into the newly emboldened beats, carried away to another planet by the unstoppable train of the glorious Grog.
- Shiloh Urban
"This is a seriously silly sick release!!! The Grog is my tune of choice here but it's hard for me to say as they all have something special for me.. Kilowatts is destroyer on this ep .. 8/10 !!!"
- Demarkus Lewis | Aesoteric, Grin

1. Gyjo 2. Sparking 3. Sparking (CYOB mix) 4. Sparrowlism 5. Heartland 6. Heartland (South Coast Mix)
It is with great excitement and extreme pleasure that I announce the release of our 12th project and our first full length album. We could not think of a better artist to kick off our fall season than resident sonic magician JD Northrup aka Chakaharta. We first encountered JD's music in 2006 when we signed his first HD single called "Cactus Girl". In addition to the original, the e.p. included hot remixs by Rithma and KiloWatts. The single was canned worldwide by the likes of Charles Webster, Morgan Page, and others. We enjoyed JD's music so much we included him on last year's Discordian Dreaming Sampler with a San Fran inspired tune called "Pacific Beats". Like a drug addicted teenager we needed more and we decided to put together a set of trippy, dubby selections for the musically minded DJ. The Plant is a journey through a soundscape of live instrumentation, offset syncopation and dubby atmosphere. The entire project has a west-coast inspired flavor that sets a coastal tone and tribal flair.
The project starts with Gyjo, a metro area style vibe meets drum circle chaos that uses tons of floaty layers that wash over the listener like refreshing water. Sparking follows after with electric snaps and plenty of drum insanity, this tune is guaranteed to fit in any sunlit set. The acid style bass and hypnotic moans create other-world tonality while the entrance of the Rhodes soothes the tune into a settled deepness. For the dance-floor inclined we have included a second mix of Sparking (CYOB) that has a rough dance-floor techno sound and ups the energy level. Don't touch this one without gloves lest you want to get shocked!! Sparrowlism is next on the block and one of our personal favorites. Sparrowlism is a drummy, fidgety tech house tune that's as fun to mix as it is to enjoy! Chopped female stutters and drunken tom fills interplay with sharp funky synthesizer trills. The album ends with two mixes of chakaharta's tribal infused rain dance called Heartland. Big sounding with ominous drones, chanting, and layered with amazing live congo recording done by Mr. Northrupp. The south coast mix is a down-tempo rendition with the same big sound but suited better for the ear!
Chakaharta- SF Bay producer J.D. Northrup draws his roots from the power of rhythm. Informed by traditional Malian and Ghanaian drumming, funky "talking" tech-house beats form the backbone of his "Chakaharta" releases on the Harmonious Discord and Fair Park imprints. Influenced by Jazz and Classical music, warm harmonies keep the tunes deep and emotionally inviting. As a DJ growing up in the house-heavy 90s underground scene in Dallas, J.D. learned the elegance of blending elements seamlessly to keep the vibe moving forward.
Other projects have included working with the Texas-based downtemo improv collective "Nuco" on a series of evening-long jam concerts in 2001-2004, techno tracks with Harmonious Discord label head Sean Anderson as part of "The Immaculate Bachelors", and work on an unreleased ambient dub album as half of duo "Paging Ms. Toit".

May 10th 2008
Almost a year ago we made contact with an artist we felt would be pioneering an edgy forward thinking sound. Patchen Preston is an unsung veteran of early dallas house and down-tempo who in 2007 switched his attention to putting his patented electronic swing to use in a string of releases for our label. Now a mainstay and label favorite Patchen has a grab bag of sonic workouts in store for 2008! His first project with us was received globally with warm regards and we felt it fitting to give these unforgettable title tracks a rework by two of Dallas's premier house music purveyors. JV is an artist with a versatile hand at creating tunes that fit all energy levels and atmospheres. From his early work with Chris Fortier's Fade Records to newer projects on Dorigen, Cove, and Sensei it is very clear that his sound is a testament to the future evolution of house. John Walker is producer that in late 2004 exploded onto the scene with releases that had shades of early house nostalgia with hints of new spacey minimalism! Whatever the project John is sure to bring an abstract funk inspired rendition that holds weight on and off the dance-floor. In addition we included two of Patchen's own reworks from the vault that are guaranteed floor fillers!
Patchen- Pale Blue Dot (JV's Full Circle Remix) is currently 28 on THE BALANCE CHART (http://www.balancerecordpool.com)

Harmonious Discord 011 May 7th, 2008 Patchen- Pale Blue Remixes
A1. Pale Blue Dot (JV's Full Circle Remix) A2. Pale Blue Dot (John Walker's Humility Dub) B1. Pale Blue Dot (Patchen's North Texas Defection Mix) B2. Motion (Patchen's Swing-set Mix)
After discovering electronic music while listening to late night radio at the pivotal age of 13, Patchen realized that creating new ways to translate the world around him into music would become his life's work. Early success as a member of the experimental improv group MFH led to studio sessions with Warner Brothers recording artist, MC900 Ft Jesus. He then went on to design sound and compose music for a number of independent films, as well as releasing his own music through various imprints including OM records. Patchen is also actively a professional sound designer, bringing his signature sound to music software tools from companies like Fxpansion and Ilio.
Hailing from Texas, JV represents a new breed of dance music producer and DJ - one that blurs genre lines by intelligently fusing together elements of house and techno to simultaneously move dance floors and provoke the imagination. With just under twenty record releases under his belt, JV's "deep-yet-dancefloor" sound has been turning heads and catching the attention of those in the know, such as Hernan Cattaneo who selected JV's "Grand Theft Vinyl" track for inclusion on his highly acclaimed Renaissance Masters CD compilation.
Over the last decade the disc jockey john walker aka "turn@round" has definitely enjoyed his existence in the underground world of dance music. In 2004 Mr. Walker released his first EP on Fair Park Records. The record was a hit around the globe, receiving positive press, such as XLR8R referring to his work as a "hot spot" in north america for minimalism. 2005 followed up with a bang as his second release with MVM Records caused a bit of a buzz at WMC. 2006 proved to be promising as his original work and remixes were licensed for WGN's "Racecar Driver" TV/DVD production as well as the completion of his first music video for "dubwash".
Reviews:
Hernan Cattaneo- "Very good stuff, quality house music all the way. JV mix is the one for me! Thanks a lot!"
Shurikan- "Like the JV remix - very nice indeed!"
Spin Science- "All mixes sound tight, although I prefer the JV remix the most. Has that my-kinda-house feeling to it Will def support!"
Nikola Gala- JV mix - nice sounds!
Harold Heath- "Its definatly the JV mix, nice warm feel, little bit techy, bit deep, really like the change in the middle - very playable, full support."
Neil Quiggley- "Like the JV remix best, definitely the JV sound...especially the nice rising pad in the break - good stuff, I'll have this in the wallet for early doors sets."
Dj Kramer- "Loving John Walker's Mix"!
Darren Epsilon- "Digging the Patchen Swingset Mix the most. The Jv Full Circle Remix comes in a close second. All 3 mixes are completely unique and different, making this a package worth checking out."
Jody Riera- "Great atmospheric techy sounds. Love the groove and the melody, The whole construction is great!"

Harmonious Discord is pleased to announce its 10th release with an artist we feel shatters convention at every opportunity. Over the past 5 years Harmonious Discord has been a favorite for abstract Dj's in the know with releases from artists like Morgan Page, Rithma, Jacob London, Merrick Brown and Demarkus Lewis. During our 5th release we received a remix from an artist that blew us away and since then we have been itching to work with this artist in a greater capacity. We felt it only proper that we celebrate our 10th release with an artist we feel is changing the landscape of electronic music.

A1. Everglade A2. Everglade (Alland Byallo's Mixed Messages Dub) B1. Exit The Laugh B2. Well Tempered Weirdness
The project kicks off with a heady, sharp, staccato tech house tune with dancefloor crumbling bass! Eveglade is a wintery and hypnotic pallate of strange sounds clashed with melodic swells. Like a trip through a forest, it changes and morphs from a light jazzy atmosphere to an intense synth ridden banger! San Francisco's Alland Byallo gives his signature spacey techno rework to Everglade. Dubby drums and covert chords rattle as this late night rework chugs along sending listeners into an unfocused reality. On the flip KiloWatts offers a drummy minimal techno tune with plenty of gnarling bass and glitched out pops! Exit the Laugh has a clockwork orange feel with haunting melodies and scary music box leads. Keeping with the astranged scenery Well Tempered Weirdness is a dancefloor timebomb! This tune starts out mellow and well mannered but soon builds into a swirl of naughty circus dreams with immense filtered strings and and various other sonic abnormalities.

Harmonious Discord 009 Various Artists- Discordian Dreaming Sampler [Grey, Chakaharta, Monad, Patchen] January 2008
A1 Chakaharta- Pacific Beats A2 Grey- Lights In B1 Monad- Meditation on the Devine B2 Patchen- Dallas Sallad
Harmonious Discord proudly presents an assortment of trippy, deep tunes perfect for the winter season. Starting off 2008 Harmonious Discord, in its tradition of showcasing talent that pushes the boundaries and defines new abstract sounds, releases four choice selections from label friends and extremely talented producers. The EP kicks off with a bouncy, drum-heavy song by San Francisco's Chakaharta. Pacific Beats chugs solid with lots of funky lead stabs and creepy percussive chants. The second selection is brought to us by label pioneer's Grey. Following suite with their recent well-received release on the same label, "Lights in" is a moody late night mover. Sharp percussion and heavy live bass give this tune plenty of funky movement. On the flip we offer you the debut appearance of Don Tinsley aka Monad to the HD imprint. Don became well known with his releases in the Urban Jazz Naturals project, a sultry group of producers and musicians. His solo project Monad is a techier focus for the artist and Meditation on the Devine shows off his headier side. The track creates a deep and dubby surrounding on the dance-floor with hypnotic female vocal accents. Rounding out our sampler of cacophonous delights is Patchen's ode to his hometown Dallas, TX. Dallas Sallad is the perfect selection for outer world zoning. Lots of circulating melodies and reversed pads dance around as far out vocal conversations swirl through the composition. Expect to see allot more from these artists in the near future from the foremost purveyor of sonic head-trips Harmonious Discord.

Harmonious Discord is proud to present the next in its line of sonic candies! This release features Harmonious Discord founders Sean Anderson and Eric Reeves better known as "Grey". In this release the Grey project shifts focus to a new style of edgy dance-floor tunes that are laden with movement-prompting bass-lines and sharp accents.

HD008 Grey- Work Rut A1. Simple Matters B1. Overtech
Simple Matters sets the pace with bouncing ball esk synth stabs interleaved with crunchy drums. Halfway through, the bass changes to a ripping saw that rips through sonic space and moves the tune into a prominent dance-floor presence.
Overtech offers a similar taste. Simple in design, Overtech takes the listener to a destination of conjoined melodies all dancing around each other. Staccato key stabs seem to talk back in fourth with the drums and bass-line build. Just when the progression seems exhausted it breaks into a funky break beat and continues to change and morph throughout the rest of the song.
Grey first appeared on the radar in 2003 when they released their debut album on Guidance Recordings, a label that has hosted Ep's from notables such as Glen Underground, Flunk, Project PM, Homebase, Phonogenic, and many more. Their debut was received with many warm reviews and set the bar very high for the duo. Shortly after in 2004, Grey released it's second ep on their home label Harmonious Discord Recordings, which featured a remix by Seattle's Jacob London. Also in 2004 Grey appeared alongside longtime friend JD Northrupp (Chakaharta) to introduce their "Warm Focus" project which featured tunes from both artists on Dallas's Fair Park Recordings. Since then you can find Grey releases on notable labels such as MVM, Blunted Funk, and Deepness.
