I was having breakfast with some good friends today. We began to discuss the lack of emotion from current artist and musicians. We concluded, well I concluded, that musicians today plan there "attack" so thouroughly that when they finally get to the performance it is more robotic than instant composition based on their thoughts or feelings. Now obviously I speaking of music based in improvisation. Of course this is my personal take on this subject but I have made a desicion to constantly put myself on the edge of each performance. Or at least each performance that allows me to jump off that preverbial cliff. So win or lose, write notes and wrong, 100% honesty. No math, no pre-planned selfindulgent barrage of meaningless lines.
