Over the weekend we had to give the keys back to the building owners. Which means that we lost the building. So for now we are not going to do any thing in Plainfield. We are looking for places to go in either Clermont or Decatur.
Sorry,

Jason

Also the venue in Fishers is out of business too. The church that let us use their space is no longer in the building. They are currently looking for a new location and once they are moved in and ready we can go back to busy there.

Current mood:  determined
this is a call to arms, so to speak. we are planning on having a protest this saturday night at the plainfield municipal building at 8pm. I know that it is july 4th but that would be a perfect time. there will be people driving up and down washington street going to see fireworks and it will get the towns attention. we NEED to have a huge crowd. i am talking in the hundreds. bring your parents, family, friends, and any one else you can think of.
who knows we might actually make the evening news.
What is this going to accomplish? to be honest with you i am not exactly sure but i am tired of playing their games. its time that they listen to US.
if you are one of those people who sit at home talking shit about the music scene in indy now is the time to get off your ass and take a stand. sure you can go watch the fireworks some where but i dont want to hear you bitch about how lame the music scene is in indy.
it is time to do something about it.
i am not saying that we can change the music scene with this protest or even with the new venue but at least we are giving it a shot. if you love music and it is as much a part of your life is it ours then be at the protest on saturday night.

we are meeting at the new place any time between 7 and 7.45. we will walk over to the municipal building and begin the protest at 8. bring signs and people.
make sure that the signs are not profane. keep it clean.

its time to make a decision keep bitching about the scene or get off your ass and do something about it.

Current mood:  pissed off
heard back from the state guy. for those of you that dont know there are different classifications a building can be under. those classifications help determine many factors and one of those is the occupancy rating and sprinkler system. the state guy is classifing us as a nightclub which then would be an a-2 classification. with an a-2 that means that any building that will have over 100 people in it at time will need a sprinkler system. so with that being said we done. we cant afford to put one in and neither can the building owners.
we are going to try a couple more things but i wouldnt count on them to work.
sorry but the center music venue is closed before it even opened.

Current mood:  stressed
The fire marshal called today. Our capacity rating is 362 people. Thats cool and all but anything over 300 requires us to put in a sprinkler system, a fire alarm system, replace the ceiling tiles with 4 layers of drywall, and put crash bars on the doors. Which in total is about $15,000. So right now we are trying to figure out a way to drop the capacity down to 299 people. I asked the fire marshal how we can make it so that we hit that magic number and his response was "get an architect." Well I am not one and I don't know any one. If anyone knows an architect who would be willing to help us out that would very helpful. Right now our goal is to drop those 63 people and get the capacity to that magic number so that we can then get in there get the stage and stuff built and open by July 5th.
I apologize for the untimely manner it is taking to get this place open. I guess this is what happens when you try start something that no one wants.
Excuse me while I go on a little rant.
Even if we get down to that magic number we still need to replace the ceiling with 4 layers of drywall. I asked the guy what about using a fire retardant paint that lasts for 30 minutes. That is long enough to get everyone out of the building and for them to drive one block to the building. He said that there needs to be a 2 hour fire barrier. I guess it will take 5 minutes to get every one out and then that gives them an hour and 45 minutes to watch it burn and then 15 minutes to drive one block and fight the fire. I guess that makes sense if you have an IQ of 7.
Any way we are doing what we can get this going and again I apologize for delay.
Sorry,
Jason

We are forced to cancel the show for this Saturday because we have yet to get the information we need. We can't open until we get a capacity rating and we can't build anything until we get that rating either. So once we get the rating then we can start building the stage, sound booth, and window coverings. We are going to try and open on the 5th of July with special guest Pensive. Sorry about having to cancel the show we are very upset about it but it is beyond our control. Sorry Jason

the url for the new venue is as follows http://www.myspace.com/thecentermusicvenue So check it out. Also the grand opening is suppose to be this saturday but we are STILL waiting to hear back from the fire marshall. If we dont hear anything back from him on by tuesday we WILL NOT be having a show this saturday. Again the show for the saturday COULD still happen if we hear back from the fire marshall tomorrow. If we DON'T hear from him tomorrow then the show for saturday will be canceled. So watch for updates tomorrow as to whether the show is happening or not. We also have a twitter account. www.twitter.com/the_cmv and a facebook account but i dont know what the url is. You will just have to search for it. Peace Jason

We were going to try and open on the 13th of June but there were some scheduling conflicts and so we need to push it back to the 20th of June.
So the opening date, if things go according to plan and we get the fire marshalls blessing, will be the 20th of June. We will have 10 to 11 bands and start at 3pm and finish before midnight.
Stay tuned for more details.

So I have the keys to the new place and things are on the way for us to reopen.
We are going to try and open by the 13th of June. We just have to clear the fire marshal situation and we will be golden.

Plus we are throwing around two names for the new place.

Either
The Center
or
The Boneyard

Which one should we use.

Peace out,
Jason and Bob
