ALL HAIL THE BEARD!
Kickin ass in the nether realm

Over the past couple months, Andy Beard has shown incredible poise under pressure not only by learning a shit-load of songs in a short amount of time, but improving on each and every one of them. Having already attended multiple out-of-town gigs, I'm certain you'll be seeing plenty of this guy around. So if you see him, buy him a drink, high-five him, and stroke his beard. (Ask first).
     And he has 15 limbs.
Kirk spotted this illusive creature at studio 360.
(2 of which are hidden.)

Our next show at the Deli will be on Saturday February 7th.
We'll be playing with, just confirmed:

KLIPSPRINGER!

If you haven't seen these guys, then there is something terribly wrong with you. You're suffering from a terrible disease and the only cure is more Klipspringer. They don't play the Deli as much these days so come out!
They make my no-no tingle in a very yes-yes way.

Rock on motherfuckers,

PS:
Don't forget about THE GUNSHIP roadtrip on Saturday January 31st at The Tree (322 South Jm Davis BLVD in Claremore, Ok) Booyah.

Hello, loyal gunshipians. Dave here.  I write to you now with the intention of informing you all of some changes The Gunship will be undergoing in the following months. So let's get right to the meat of it...
Our longtime bass player Patrick Mellon is leaving the band to pursue a new life outside of Oklahoma. While this was a rather sudden and unexpected move on his part, Dr. Bob and I want you to know that The Gunship will continue to rock your socks off to the level we have always have, and that our resolve to do so is stronger than ever.
Now, there is going to be a period of adjustment for the next few months... in which time we will be finding a replacement for Patrick. He may still play with us for another couple shows, or we might have some stand-ins til we find an adequate bass player, depending on his schedule... but either way I want to preemptively thank you all for the support I know you will all show us and any musicians who help us get through this rough patch.
I know there are probably going to be a lot of questions from you about the specifics of these events, and while I would love to be more in-depth with my explanations, it is not really my place to say... suffice to say that this is a decision Patrick feels will be best for his goals in life, and we will respect that decision.
Time is up for today's blog, but I will continue to keep you all informed of our activities and progress. See you soon. We love you all.

Current mood:  evil

Alright folks...

As you may or may not know, THE GUNSHIP has parted ways from our lovely home in the too-distant-and-slightly-poo-smelling Moore, OK. No more fire pit. No more stale garage. We must bid you adieu, oh casa de escopetabuque. I think that means "ship of rifles". (gimme a break, it's the best I could do.)

However, we have a new home. Or better yet, the home we've always had. But now we actually get to live there! Campus fucking corner, right in the fucking heart of Norman fucking Oklahoma. Happy day!

So on September 20th after our Deli show, you're coming over. No getting past it. Seriously, you can walk there from the Deli. If you're drunk and don't feel like walking around in public (like that ever happens) then we even have a secret entrance. It might even be a trap door. Or a zip line. Or a fence. Who knows?! But watch out for booby traps. Hehe. Boobies.

     Mark your calenders.... WITH BLOOD!!

Thursday, October 30th will be the magical evening of THE GUNSHIP's second annual Zombie Extravaganza. At the Deli, of course. We're not confirmed as to who's playing with us yet, but I hope it's Slayer. No matter, they'll be in their best zombie gettup. You'd better be too! A big ole slap of blood to the face will do fine, but don't be afraid to be creative! A baseball player zombie! A nurse! In-a-suit zombie! Slutty zombie! (you can never have too many of those)

Well, that about does it for today. We'll be in touch.

Aim for the head,

---Dr. Bob of THE GUNSHIP

Current mood:  quixotic

Hello everyone. Dave here. It's been a while since I posted a blog, so I figured it was time again to let you all know what is going on in the world of The Gunship.

This summer is looking to be a good one, kids. We've Got some kick ass shows lined up and will be adding more as time goes by. Along those lines I should remind everyone to start planning now for our 4th of July extravaganza at The Deli(on friday, july 4th...heh). It will be a most excellent time...keep checking here...more on that soon...

And so...The Gunship mailing list is going back into full swing with a drawing a little later this month for free admission to our july 4th show, so make sure that you send us your physical mailing address soon if we don't already have it (or if you have moved). Some acoustic demos are in the works to be sent out sometime next month-ish as well...so make sure you are in. rock.

New songs!!! yes, right as you are finally able to remember the words we are gonna be bringing new songs to the table. hehe. Yes...tricky, I know...

On a personal note...I want everyone to know that I deeply and truly appreciate all the love and support we have recieved from you all through the last three years. A band is a fun thing to be a part of, but would be nothing without the constant vigilance of it's friends and fans. I look forward to rocking for and with you for many years to come. Thank you.

Rock Rock Rock

Lots of news for you fellow Gunshipians:

First of all, we're playing Groovefest! We're really pumped about this. April 27th at Andrew's Park in Norman. Not sure who else is playing, but you'll know as soon as we do. The line-up should be awesome as usual.
We've also got the annual Punk-Rock Garage Sale at the Conservatory in OKC coming up on April 12th. If you don't know what it is, it's pretty much just what it sounds like. It's fucking Rad.
In case you don't know the reeeeeeally great news, we have a comic book! It's on our profile page so just click it to see the whole thing! Thanks again to Erica Nichols for making our lives complete.
We'll be filling out a lot of tour dates for May pretty soon, so be prepared because after May, THE GUNSHIP will be pretty scarce in the good ole OK.

TOURVEMBER:week 3

This week it got cold. And I was sick until two days ago, but that's ok...
We started the week in Little Rock Arkansas...after three days we finally had to go to our next city...Memphis! Wooo! While in Memphis we played a rocking set for a bunch of people who were out for some tuesday night trivia. The cold wind continued to blow across the country...
Then we drove to Nashville, Tennessee. The Muse...a nice venue with much-improved sound since we were there in April. Good job Sound guy!(sorry I can't remember your name.) As we watched the bands after us play it started to rain...then...it rained more. Then, it was as though all the rain we didn't see the last two and a half weeks suddenly decided to spill out onto the earth......on The Muse.
We were happy at this point that we opened the night.....and didn't have to load out the equipment in the storm. Woo!!!
Then there was thanksgiving:
We stayed with some of Patrick's family(and by that I mean that his cousin was nice enough to let us use her house as a crash pad even though she was out of town.) but managed to not actually see anyone we were related to all day....we ate turkey sandwiches at the house, and later feasted at Jack in the Box. A nice relaxing holiday...
Then it was on to Morristown Tennessee...home of the Downtown...one of the very best bars in the world. We had a great night and stayed in a very cool(literally and figuratively) crash pad above the bar(pictures will be posted)...And had a nice cup of coffee with the owners the next morning before we left. Good stuff and good people.
North Carolina...did not get us this time! NO traffic ticket between Morristown and South Carolina. Yes!!!!!!
Scuse me...We had a great time last night in greenville South Carolina at Gypsy G's Roadhouse. Our set was only twenty minutes long, but it was awesome. so there. I will go into more detail later...as it is I must away... the call of a cigarette and someone yelling at me about hogging the computer is cutting this short. It'll be all right. See you in a week(Norman). -Rock Rock Rock -Dave

Tourvember:

Week 1:

Ft. Worth Texas is not Dallas. Never say that it is dallas when you mean ft. worth. Seriously...this just seems like a good idea. Not that anyone seems to care, but it occured to me that people often say dallas when they mean ft. worth. nevermind...

Tourvember started well. We played a few shows with Dallas/Ft. Worthian band "The Cut Off" in Ft. Worth and then in Denton Texas...the later of which has a lot of junk stores in the downtown area...good time killing. The shows themselves went well enough...made some new friends/fans/contacts/etc...but at the denton show(at Andy's Bar) we were treated to a wonderful memory of having some drunk girl puking next to/on our equipment. This was lame. Lame lame lame. If you are going to puke in public you should do so in the trash can or in the bathroom. NEVER on our bass drum bag or my extra cables bag...ever! The North Texas Mean Green has a whole new meaning now to me...

Now...I know I have said some bad things about Austin Texas...but the future capitol of "Lil' Texas" was a lot of fun this time. We even got to go to the alamo draft house and watch a neat movie about punk rock. Sadly, we were unable to purchase any beer at the "draft house" as our monies were a bit low.  That's life on the road I suppose.

If you manage to get to San Antonio, texas, make sure that you visit the Alamo...and make sure that you talk about pissing on it. Everyone does. Its ok. Just don't actualy do it. That will get you banned from texas...And while we're on the subject of the alamo and such, I think that now is a good time to mention that if youo ever visit Houston, Texas Make sure that you don't say bad things about Samuel Houston(the first president of texas...long before it actually counted...hehe). State history is a religion here. Just play dumb.

Which leads us into...

Week 2:

Lake charles Louisiana has a really awesome bridge heading into the city...we're not sure why it is as tall as it is...what with being only over a lake and not really seaming to be a trade ship route...whatever. Louisiana-ans are good people. We rocked and rolled with some friends we made last time we played through....and learned that local food is something we should try more often. And...as we traveled to Lafayette the next day we realized how nice it is to book shows that are only an hour aay from each other. MMmmm...

Yes, After the short drive to Lafayette we rocked Pilot's Pub and crashed at the home of a nice Local named Heather and her room mates who were offshore oil rig workers. Cool people who let us crash with them(and got us drunk) for several days of downtime. Patrick and I(much to Dr. Bobs dismay, I'm sure) got to play with their Arsenal of rifles and pistols and such...I couldn't help but giggle with childish glee as I destroyed a planter's peanut can with the 12 gauge... Not surprisingly(to anyone who has played "Goldeneye" with me) I did better with a pistol than the rifles. Still...I love southern louisiana...and it loves us...

Northern louisiana was a bit odd though...they didn't seem to like paying bands to play...or paying to build interstates to make cross-state travel easy and less time-consuming...blah...We met some nice people and learned about some neat places to play, despite our personal bad luck with our shows...but We're heading for Little Rock Arkansas and should have a great time this weekend.

All in all...the first two weeks of "Tourvember" have gone surprisingly smooth. We look forward to coming back to most of the places we've played already, and look forward(as well) to the shows ahead of us before we return to Norman, OK in December. Till next time...be excellent to each other. Rock Rock Rock
