Test Press SF 2008 Kicks Off!
Thursday January 17th 2008 marked not only the first of four Test Press events that Pyramind will host throughout the year but it was also the very first to be held in the new space at 832 Folsom. Since its inception, Test Press has been held at various venues in San Francisco and now everyone involved with Test Press is glad to have a permanent home.
The evening began with Pyramind Director, Greg Gordon, welcoming all the attendees to the new space and introductions of the Test Press Committee by the night's host and Test Press committee member, Rashida Clendening. The other members of the committee who were recognized were Scott Quick, Jeff Straw and Tyler Stone along with new committee members Darcy Kearney and Chris Horgan. The panelists who judged the tracks then took their places and were introduced. The illustrious group included: Bay Area house producer and DJ Chris Lum, DJ Chris Demestra who has worked on productions with DRC and Ars Nova just to name a few, and Distribution Manager for INgrooves, Martin Cuevas.
The sponsor for the night's festivities was INgrooves . Jonathan Ojeda, Label Relations Manager for INgrooves gave a brief presentation in between track review sessions to explain to the crowd what they do at INgrooves. As a digital media distribution and publishing company they provide various distribution and marketing services via their INgrooves and ONE Digital divisions.
The tracks that were submitted to Test Press ranged from downtempo to house and psychedelic trance. Before listening to each submission, the artist/producer said a few words about their track. One characteristic that all the tracks shared was high quality production value. The judges took notice and their feedback reflected that. The audience also took notice, and their was feedback was noted by the Applause-O-Meter! Martin from INgrooves was impressed enough by Frost-RAVEN and Esoteknic's tracks to speak with them about submitting their tracks for distribution. Not to be overlooked, Frost-RAVEN is a former student and Esoteknic is a current student at Pyramind.
After the track reviews and a short break, refreshments came out and Return to Mono took to the stage. For those who don't know, Return to Mono was one of last year's Test Press winners and their track, Insult to Injury, was featured on the 2007 Epiphyte Records CD/DVD release, Test Press SF. They played a hot live set and it was the perfect way to wrap up the evening.
While the band played on, the judges tallied their scores and the numbers from the Applause-O-Meter! The finalists were announced at the very end of the night. Thanks to all who contributed tracks and made the night a resounding success!

why do people always try to hate when they see you happy??? jealousy? insecurity? unhappiness with their own life? learn to love yourself and be happy with what god gave you.....
Dali Lama - Instructions for Life INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIFE
1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk. 2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson. 3. Follow the three R..s:
Respect for self Respect for others and Responsibility for all your actions.
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. 5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly. 6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship. 7. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it. 8. Spend some time alone every day. 9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values. 10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. 11. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time. 12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life. 13. In disagreements with loved ones deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past. 14. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality. 15. Be gentle with the earth. 16. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before. 17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other. 18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. 19. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
"...I believe all suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their happiness or satisfaction. Yet true happiness comes from a sense of peace and contentment, which in turn must be achieved through the cultivation of altruism, of love and compassion, and elimination of ignorance, selfishness, and greed..."

She said: Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
Met him on a Thursday, sunny afternoon Cumulus clouds, 84 degrees He was brown, deep Said he wanted to talk about my mission Listen to my past lives (Word?) Took me on long walks to places where butterflies rest easy Talked about Moses and Mumia Reparations, blue colors, memories of shell top adidas He was fresh, like summer peaches Sweet on my mind like block parties and penny candy Us was nice and warm,no jacket,no umbrella, just warm At night we would watch the stars And he would physically give me each and every one I felt like cayenne pepper, red, hot, spicy I felt Dizzy and Sonia, heaven and Miles between my thighs Better than love,we made delicious He me had,had me he He had me tongue tied I could hear his rhythm in my thoughts I was his sharp, his horn section His boom and his bip And he was my love
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
The rain was fallin and,and slowly and sweetly and stinging my eyes And I could not see that he became my voodoo priest And I was his faithful concubine Wide open, wide, loose like bowels after collard greens The mistake was made Love slipped from my lips Dripped down my chin and landed in his lap And us became new Now me non-clairvoyant and in love Made the coochie easy and the obvious invisible The rain was falling And I couldn't see the season changing And the vibe slipping off it's axis Our beautiful melody became wildly staccato The rain was falling and I could not see That I was to be plowed and sowed and fertilized And left to drown in his sunny afternoon Cumulus clouds,84 degrees, melody
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
He said: I stretch my arms towards the sky like blades of tall grass, The sun beat between my shoulders like carnaval drums. I sat still in hopes that it would help my wings grow So then I could really be fly. And then she arrived. Like daybreak inside a railway tunnel, like the new moon, like a diamond in the mines, like high noon to a junker, Sudden... She made my heart beat in the now, now time signature, her skin a canvas for ultra violet brush strokes. She was the sun's painting, she was a deep cogniac color, her eyes sparkle like lights along the new city, her lips purst as if her breath was too sweet and full for her mouth to hold. I said: "You are the beautiful distress of mathmatics," I said: "For you, I will peel open the clouds like new fruit, and give you lightning and thunder as a dowry, I will make the sky shed all of it's stars like rain, and I will clast the constellations across your waste, and i will make the heavens your keep. And they will be pleased to cover you, they will be pleased to cover you, May i please... cover you...
...please...
