 Holy Shit!!

  One step closer to completion...
In a surprise move thursday, Kent (bass) made a full frontal assault on the studio and did a hostel take over of our recordings, Blasting us with explosive playing and completeing his last two tracks for the album. 
This leaves only Mike and myself with unfinished biz... Mike has ONE solo left to blaze off and I have one rythm guitar part to finish and then... (dare I say it ?) ...RECORDING IS FINISHED!!!!!
 And as most of the actual mixing is already complete, it is a short distance to the finish line.
That, of course, only leaves album concept and art, mastering, cd production, marketing strategy, cd release event plans, promo show dates... whew!... so we should be done possibly before the world ends on dec 21, 2012, or shortly after! Kidding - realistcally, by the time the Olympics get under way to financially breaking BC, we should be released. Thats Feb. 2010 (4 months?).
 More news posted as it happens, thanks for staying tuned...

Yes!!

  The day has finally come...

LIFE is finally back to a 2 - guitar assault! Thats right - John's fingers have FINALLY healed up from being hacked to pieces in a tragic table saw accident 7 months ago and we are playing our first show as the full on band that we are.

 Saturday night, as part of the Rockanagan Festival, LIFE will be back in action the way we were meant to be with BoTH guitars blazing -  heavier sound, harmonies, trading solos...(and Mike and Kent don't have to cover for the missing pieces)
11:00 at the Bohemian Cafe, 524 Bernard Ave. in Kelowna - we are revved up for this one.
 It has been a long and frustrating road of pain, rehab, delayed recording sessions causing further delays of album release and trying to figure out what the heck I'm supposed to do as a singer on stage with no guitar to hide behind!
But that has come to an end . Not fully healed, but things are going well and we are sounding thunderous!  

 So come on out and see the first show back - it is not to be missed!

  Hey

We were playing at ACTIONFEST in Summerland yesterday - all was Great - good stage and sound, tons of people (softballers, party-goers, drunks, families...) sunshine and so on. We were playing our set to close out the night when we were told "time for one more song only". No prob - so we are playing our song, crowd is rockin -all is goin good - then an organizer/city official decides we need to stop IMMEDIATELY in the middle of our last song - and she is FREAKING out! so with less than 2 min left in our LAST song, she literally grabs the main power cables for the whole area and pulls them from the panel, shutting off all sound, lights, video feeds, - EVERYTHING  went down and then continues to freak out on stage. The crowd is baffled and angry, we're confused and that was that - no "thank yous" no corporate sponsor recognition, no awards ceremony, nolights, no sound... crazy. Quite an end to a great day, not to mention potential damage to thousands of $ in equip....
I was a roadie for 11 years, doing arena shows, festivals, large clubs etc and have Never seen anything like this.  I hope that was her last act as a city employee.
Too bad for the patrons of the festival and all the sponsors.
Thanks so much to the Karroll family, CAW, OKBC.TV and Bering Music for a great show,sound system  and all the work and tech help, and thanks to all who came out and cheered us on and enjoyed the festival and the kind words after and to all the other bands who played that day making a great event .

At least we have another story for the memoirs...

Well - its been a loooong time on the recovery road so far, but its taken a step forward...
Played some guitar last night - although it was only with a slide as my fingers still dont really work - but it was playing none the less!
Never been much of a slide guy, but after 8 weeks of not playing anything, i'll take what i can get!  Gotta say i had a blast and made a lot of noise.
Going for more x-rays this morning then to the doc to find out how everything is healing (hope its good news) - then we'll see - hope to be actually playing over the next month, but theres still a ways to go...
Until then, the shows keep going on (had a great time at LONGHORNS in vernon last weekend) and more coming up, plus the new album is really making headway - getting closer!!

 Once again a wicked show with our friends HELCION on Friday night.
Yes, The Level was raging that night - heavy  music - full volume - drinks flowing - crazy people...  one casualty in the pit (knock-out!) and one couple was so revved up they decided to put on a public display of full on sexual antics! I'm talkin pants to the ankles - all shame (and class) thrown out the window.
Yep - no holds barred at these shows - you dont want to miss the next ones - you never know what'll happen!
Thanks so much to all that came and made the night fuckin rock!
Also - not to forget the other band that contibuted to the mayem - our new friends SkullHammer! Full on shred these guys are.
As my injury is on-going, my 'vocals only' debut was that night too. Still a couple of months before that changes and its driving me nuts! Mike, Kent and Jeff played awsome to fill in the gaps, but cant wait to be a 2-guitar assault again. It will be even better...

As if we need more set-backs...
I (John) have had a severe accident this weekend and have mangled the fingers of my left hand with a table saw. Ironically done while building some set pieces for a show this coming weekend. While no fingers actually made it to the floor, my index finger was left hanging (note the blog title) and two others and the thumb were turned to hamburger. Index was also broken in two places and the bone in the tips of the other two fingers were splintered by the blade. An hour of surgery, two pins and 40 stitches later my guitar playing days are over for a while, tho THANKFULLY the doc says I should be able to play again after some healing and physio. I am counting on him being right.
We will continue tho - Mike will beef up his guitar parts to cover mine and I will be reduced to just a singer, but the show must go on...
At least i have time off work now and can get some mixing done for the new album.
Anyhoo - hopefully in 3 or 4 months i can pick up a guitar again.

YES - its happening again...

 

 

  Tis the season for newsong releases. We have another NEW TRACK from our upcoming album that is ready for broadcast!  Last recordings and mixing are moving at a furious pace so we're getting closer to a finished product.

 

  This one is called    "LINES"

Wooo!

 Great time was had at VOODOO's in Penticton last week. Thanks to all who came out - the place was rockin. Even the city bylaw enforcement team came out to check out the loudness!

 Thanks to Helcion, who put on a great show and were gracious enough to have us there with them.

 We posted a few pics from the nite to showcase our first show back in action and our first show with Kent, our awesome new bass player(well, I guess he's not new anymore, but kinda used. How used, you ask? Well, thats an entirely different subject for another blog... or a german porn)

Anyway -watch for more shows and new songs posted in the near future!!

  See?  We kept our word  -  2 new songs from the up-coming album have been posted on our site! We're all giddy as school girls.

Its been a while in the making, but its all happening now. Two tracks - TIME and NO SYMPATHY. No particular reason we released these two first - they are just the most complete at this point. Not quite ready for the album - they still have some tweaks and final mastering to go, but we couldn't hold back any longer...

Check 'em out - tell us what you think - dance naked in your living room to them, then post the video - whatever you like.

Anyhoo - hope you dig - theres more on the way soon...
