The new album Goodbye God is out now. And we're going on tour again starting January 1. Super psyched.

Jason here. Well, we went on tour in August, which was excellent. We had a great time and met a lot of great people. There are some photos up here. We're tentatively planning another tour in the winter and hopefully something longer for Summer 2010. We also released Mount Bounty which is a collection of unreleased songs from 2001 to 2005. We're still finishing up the artwork to the new album Goodbye God but hopefully that'll be pressed sometime in the next few months. Jon's working on a new batch of tunes for an EP. I think it's some of the best stuff he's ever written. The songs are loosely based on some horror movies he likes, titles include The Video Dead, The Bride Wore Blood, Nightmare Sisters, and Bloody Moon. I can't wait until those get released. Oh yeah, and Jon and his wife Psalm moved to North Carolina last month. Pretty nuts but we're all psyched for them. We never practiced anyway, what's a few hundred more miles? That's all for now, stay cool.

Hello, internets. This is Jason from Paper the Operator. Jon wanted me to post an update to let everyone know what's going on.

For anyone wondering, Greg quit the band a few months ago, so the lineup with Nick and Chris was sort of up in the air. They will still be involved, but the current active live band lineup is Jon Sebastian, Joe Bushen, and myself, Jason Woodson. I think the idea is that the lineup is going to be somewhat flexible. Whatever it takes to get the rock out there. Jon will be doing PTO shows with whoever is available to play, and he'll probably do some gigs solo.

Anyway, I've been friends with Jon for over a decade and we've played in a couple of bands before. I'm also the guy who runs Viper Bite Records. Joe plays bass for The Color Wheels and accordion for Auld Lang Syne, and is also dating my sister-in-law. We actually had our first few practices this week, and it went really well. Joe and I are trading off on bass and drums, and Joe plays some keyboards. We played a good mix of Jon's older stuff and some newer songs. At one point we gave each other a high-five-trifecta, which was awesome. The first show with the new lineup is June 25 at The Bug Jar in Rochester.

In other news, the new PTO album "Goodbye God" will be out in the next few months. It's going to be a Vinyl + CD release. Our friend Arianna is working on the artwork as we speak. Then we're going to try to do a tour later in the Summer or early Fall. At the end of the year we should be releasing an EP. That's all, thanks for listening.

"Solemn Boyz is a slick collection of fun, energetic songs that's bursting at the seams with melody." - PopHeadWound

"Brief and outrageously catchy, Paper The Operator pack a truly memorable punch" - Sound As Language

"This is an awesome little EP. The execution and musicianship are top-notch, and it's refreshing to hear a band still playing music like this." - PunkNews.org

"great rock 'n roll that isn't afraid to mix heartache and cynicism, with just a touch of lightheartedness." - Late Night Wallflower

"'The Heart's Hardest Part' is several shades of awesome on so many levels; crunchy guitar riffs, fantastic harmonies and a really catchy chorus. It's not far off the perfect guitar-pop song. But then you could say that about any of these songs as they're all equally awesome." - Punktastic

"...the songs are nicely dark and mean, and the hooks are sharp and barbed. The time passes quickly, and I hit repeat. More times than I'd like to admit. An instant stunner." - Aidabet

"Massive guitar crunch?  Check. Hooks that grab you quicker than a clingy ex-girlfriend?  Check.  Refreshing lack of pretentiousness and indie-rock snobbery? Thank the Lord, check." - Stereo Subversion

"...with all these sweet tunes it's caught my attention hook, line and sinker." - AltSounds

"Paper the Operator are a dashed fine band and if you like your pop music to have heft, you should check this one out." - Collective

" In a genre that seems increasingly spent, Paper the Operator finds new avenues and new life." - RnR Nonsense

"Solemn Boyz EP is full of effortlessly catchy tunes that fall somewhere near the intersection of indie-pop, power-pop, and pop-punk." - CYSTSFTS

"Instantly giving you a reason to listen to the rest of the songs, the title track 'Solemn Boyz' is one of the album’s highlights but far from the only one." - The Album Project

"Here's seventeen minutes of workmanlike pop punk, hitting all the marks with chugging guitars, heartfelt vocals, snappy tempos and the occasional acoustic guitar." - 30 Music

We're psyched to announce that we'll be working with Beartrap PR to help promote Solemn Boyz EP. Their roster includes an impressive list of bands so it's awesome to be working with them. Let us know if you see the album featured in any blogs or magazines this fall.
