"Not For Everyone, Just For You" is the outstanding new full-length CD from Chapel Hill's North Elementary.
Recorded over the winter of 2006-'07 with producer Alan Weatherhead
(Hotel Lights, Sparklehorse), NFEJFY has been a long time coming but is
well worth the wait.

The disc will be released on February 24, but you can preorder your copy NOW, to be shipped the week of February 16. The first 10 preorders get a very special treat -- the entire North Elementary Weeble Wobble Sound Series
(a set of three NE 7" releases)! Not only do these records sound
amazing, but they are enclosed in a hand-sewn, silkscreened North
Elementary cover constructed by Alison at www.myspace.com/burntcookieaprons. To order, just visit www.eskimokissrecords.com and click the Buy CD link over to the left.

North Elementary will be touring around the east coast throughout the
summer in support of NFEJFY as well as an upcoming split 7" with
Atlanta's Pistolero. So be on the lookout, and check them out if they come to your town! For more info visit www.northelementary.com

I can't keep up with this myspace anymore! eskimo kiss is one person. And I appreciate the friend requests very much but please send along a little note or something that might make me want to add you. Otherwise I'm sorry but myspace is a time suck that I'm trying my best not to fall victim too. OK? thanks!

When I started eskimo kiss records on that snowy day in January 2000, I never thought it would eventually bring me to this point -- releasing my own solo record! But I'm happy to announce that on October 28, 2008, The Good Graces' 10-song CD, "Sunset Over Saxapahaw," will be unveiled to the world. But guess what? You can preorder it NOW, just head over to www.eskimokissrecords.com and click the handy "BUY CD" link over there to the left. Pre-orders will be shipped the first week of October, so you can get your disc before it's even available to the general public. AND the first ten orders get a free print of artist Marissa Kaye's "Tangerine Sunset," which was used for the album's cover art. How cool is that?!?

The 411 - "Sunset Over Saxapahaw" is a catchy, honest, and endearing collection of tunes about heartbreak and hope. And while I've put a lot into every single eskimo kiss release, I can honestly say that I put more of myself into this project than anything else I've ever attempted. And if you know me, you know I've had a lot of "projects".

I could go on about the recording process (it was so much fun and inspiring), my influences (every eskimo kiss artist + John Darnielle), or the wonderful friends who helped me (and just because you aren't mentioned by name here doesn't mean I'm not forever grateful). But I feel that's all I really need to say. This record is ME, and I hope you like it.

All the shows below are brought to you by eskimo kiss records! Come out and support local music!!!

SAT, AUG 2 @ KAVARNA
ALINA SIMONE w/ DANCER VS. POLITICIAN
Alina is a Brooklyn via NC transplant that has one of the most amazing voice you'll ever hear, trust me! Last summer she performed at ISP and it really was stunning, we were all speechless listening to her. Think Cat Power/PJ Harvey, but better (honestly). What's most interesting about this set is it's in support of her new album "Everyone Is Crying Out to Me, Beware," which is a collection of songs written by the Russian folksinger Yanka Dyagileva. So yes, she'll be singing in Russian. How often do you get to see that?

WED, AUG 13 @ UNDERNEATH
THE HOUSTONS w/ BLAKE RAINEY AND HIS DEMONS
Don't let their name fool you, the Houstons actually hail from Charlotte, NC. But don't hold that against them either :) This combo led by singer/keyboardist/drummer/whatever-else-he-might-play-depending-on-the-show Justin Faircloth (seriously, when I saw them at WE Fest he played keys & drums and sang at the same time) plays some outstanding minimalist, alt country-ish indie pop... call it Pavement meets Son Volt? Blake Rainey joins him in a double bill that is sure to pull on your heartstrings, I can't think of a better suited combination. And if you haven't done so yet, this is your chance to check out a really cool venue, Underneath... think a smaller Eddie's Attic, it's truly a listening room and I'm stoked to have something like this in Atlanta! Tix for this show are $15 but that includes beer & wine and snacks!!!

Some random, quick updates from EKR HQ:

1 - two releases in the pipe for this spring! Citified's "The Meeting After the Meeting" and Gregg Yeti and the Best Lights's "Heart Palpitations of the Rich and Famous". We're terribly excited about both... for sneak previews visit their myspaces:

2 - new eskimo bliss podcast! for the details click HERE

3 - last night I dreamed I was at the beach, looking out the hotel window onto the ocean. Suddenly this big large white furry creature, with someone on is back, goes running across the water. you know the big white furry creature in star wars? It was him. Next thing I know, he's being followed by all these Star Wars characters. It was like a star wars parade, in the ocean. Friggin' crazy. During the parade, one of my mom's friends (I guess I was at the beach with them), was trying to get her picture made (by me) amongst a bunch of boats, when suddenly she tripped, and then it was discovered she was wearing a wig, because it fell right off and she was bald underneath. I got the shot just as her baldness was rearing its ugly head. WTF? Dream analysts, get to work.

I have been incredibly slack when it comes to this myspace page. But I have many excuses, look:

1. I am getting married, in like 6 weeks.
2. I've started blogging like crazy on my "real" blog at eskimobliss.com
3. I've entered the world of podcasting. It's fun. So if you're into that (and you should be, because I'm finding out about all sorts of new music from other podcasters), then subscribe via iTunes.
4. and I've been working my ass off at my day job.

OK?
