I just re-uploaded some songs on the music player.  Some are final (or "more final") versions of previous heard tracks.  Some are brand new remixes.  Give a listen and let me know what you think!!!

Leave it to a stranger online to alert me to the fact that I'm a part of a new compilation!  :)  Oh Lord!  I should probably be better about all this!

It's an mp3 album put out byOn KeyStudios (run by Ms. Diva Extraordinaire, Elissa!!!).  It's calledOn KeyDance Power, Volume 1. It features the Breakbeat Mix of "Shine Your Light" (produced by Lenny "Linus" Douglas) and the Old Skool Mix of "Close Your Eyes".  It also features some other great artists, including the awesome Thiago.

It's available on Amazon.com and ITunes.  Check it out!

(Btw... the typos are intentional.  For some reason, Myspace won't let me type the full name of the studio or CD.  Very odd).

Lenny "Linus" Douglas (L7K) is in the process of turning out some AMAZING remixes to both "Leadin' Me On" and "Undone".  You have already been hearing a sample of a demo remix version of "Leadin' Me On" (song 1 on my music player).  Damn it's HOT.  I really can't wait to post the completed version for you all!

Well... I just heard a sample of the "Undone" remix.  What can I say???  It's what Urban Freestyle should sound like in 2009!!!  I have no doubt that it will blow all of your minds!

If you want to learn more about Lenny "Linus" Douglas, visit him on his official Myspace page.

I have to post my thoughts in reference to some questions and comments I've been getting.  NO... I have not stopped making Freestyle music.  I've always considered my music to be a mixture of Pop, Freestyle and R&B.  These two new tracks just kind of lean a little more to the Pop and R&B side of things.

I actually recorded THREE new songs in Toronto recently.  You can hear two of them on my player now.  The third song is a Freestyle track called "You Lose 'Em How You Got 'Em".  Unfortunately, I was very unhappy with my vocal on the track.  We attempted to record all three songs in one recording session.  That track was the last one I laid down my vocals for and I was EXHAUSTED.  So... we're finishing the music and I'll be re-recording the vocals soon.

This brings me to a point.  Always be true to who you are, no matter what anyone else has to say.  It's funny.  I had haters post very public comments about my old songs where they went off on me for not being Freestyle enough... not being Latin... assuming that I didn't grow up listening to Freestyle music in the same way they had.  They thought I should be making Pop music and to leave Freestyle alone.  It hurt my feelings at first but I quickly realized what bullshit it really was.

Now, I have people making comments because I have grown as an artist and am introducing other elements into my music.  Sometimes it seems you can never win.  Long story short... you can't please everyone.  You have to make sure you please yourself and always stay real.  That's all I'm doing and it's all I'll continue to do.

Again, thank you to the many people who have supported me over the years.  You mean everything to me and please don't think this blog is directed to you.  It's directed to the haters who have nothing better to do but criticize others for doing their thing.  As far as I'm concerned, the criticism is over and I'm moving forward while they stay behind.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for being so patient with me.  It's been a long time since I updated this page and you all have continued to show your love and support.  From the bottom of my heart... thank you.

I wanted to update you on some of the songs I just added to my music player.  I'm so excited about this new material and I hope you feel the same!

"Leadin' Me On"
This song is actually a remake of an album track by the German pop group, Monrose.  The second I heard it, I felt like it should be mine!  :)  I reworked a few of the lyrics and sing it a slight bit different but it stays pretty true to the original.  It was produced by Frank Vena at Boom Studio in Toronto.  It also features the background vocals of Elissa!

"Undone"
I wrote this song from a real life experience.  Sometimes in love, you just have to walk away.  I think it's very true that you can love someone and no longer be IN love with them.  This one was again produced by the awesome Frank Vena with backgrounds from Elissa.

"Leadin' Me On" (L7K Demo Mix)
I commissioned the talented Lenny "Linus" Douglas to do some remixes of both of the new songs.  This is the rough mix of what he's been working on for "Leadin' Me On".  For being a demo, it sure sounds HOT to me.  I had to post a clip of it right away for you all to hear and salivate over!  I'll make sure to post the completed version when it's ready.

Again, thank you so much for staying loyal and being patient.  Your support means the world to me.

Love,
Miles

I have nothing but the utmost love and respect for Carlos Berrios.  Not only is he a legendary producer and musician but he's an incredible person and friend.  I feel so fortunate to have had the experience of working with him and I hope it wasn't the last time.  Anyway... here's a post from his new blog about his upcoming CD project (featuring some amazing artists and 2 of my songs!!!).  Read more at    http://berriosbeats.blogspot.com .  Read on...

"The album is finally finished! It was mastered by Duncan Stanbury at Frankford Wayne here in New York about two weeks ago.

The project has been split into two seperate CD's, titled Session One and Session Two respectively. Each CD has 11 tracks for a total of 22 brand new tracks. That's 22 folks!

Included on each CD is an edit battle featuring some the best virtual cutters still keeping the art alive. If you don't know what editing is, I plan to post a later segment breaking down how and why editing became so popular in the late 80's.

We're in the middle of preparing for the manufacturing process, which by itself takes several weeks. But my hope is to have it ready for Christmas. That's really cutting it close, so I can't promise that it will be ready to ship, so many things can go wrong. But we will try.

We're setting up an e-mail for those that want to know the minute that it does ship. So if you want to know the minute it's ready and where you can get it,

you can e-mail me at: cbdontlookback@gmail.com

and I will keep you at the top of the list.

This is the final lineup (I really mean it this time!)

Most people know that I have a history of experimenting with my music, so although most of the music on these CD's is Freestyle in one form or another, I also tried my hand at Freestyle Rock, Freestyle in Spanish , which led to a Spanish House track titled "Se Marcho" as well as a Spanish Rock-Dance track titled "No Lo Niegues".

As for this Blog, I set this up back in April but didn't have time to post anything. Now that I have more time, I plan to lay down some of the history of certain tracks like "Make Noise" or "Together Forever" and how I met Lisette Melendez and got my first deal with Profile Records back in 1987.

I also really want to post some tips on mixing and production as well. Let's see how far we get!

Oh how I love making these crazy acapellas on my home computer with my $15 microphone from Best Buy!  Hahaha.  The song is called "One More Chance".  I first fell in love with this song when I heard it as the b-side to Janet Jackson's "If".  Her vocals were soft and tender and the song was just so beautiful.  If I'm correct, it's actually a cover of a song originally recorded by her brother, Randy Jackson (NOT the American Idol judge).  I'll leave it up for a bit until I can get some real new music to you!

Current mood:  excited

I just posted a new mix of "You Left Me".  It's a little more crisp and the levels are a little better.  It's hard to tell on Myspace though.  Sometimes, I think that it sounds fuzzy on here.  It doesn't in real life though.  Hmm.  Anyway.  The number of times it's been listened to has been brought back to zero!  So, get on it people!!!  Hahaha.  Thank you Carlos for finishing it!!!  Great work again!

Lenny "Linus" Douglas is currently finishing a new remix of "Shine Your Light".  I've heard the initial mix.  It's HOT.  I can't wait for it to be finished.

I'm also finalizing the decision of what producers to work with in finishing my album.  Very exciting!

For those of you who have been asking about purchasing some of my music, I'll have info very soon about compilations due this summer with songs of mine on them.  That should hold you over until my album is finished.  :)

Before I go, I just want to thank everyone who has been involved with helping me get here today.  Elissa-you are truly a gift from God.  You have been so helpful.  Carlos-you're the coolest!  I love working with you.  Thank you Pete, Lenny, Jessica, Caleb, my dancers, and all others who I've been blessed to work with and know.  And thank you all... the fans... for keeping up with me.

Have a blessed week!

Current mood:inspired
Why do I make Freestyle music?  I've been asked this question more than a few times in my life.  My voice isn't the stereotypical Freestyle voice.  Half the world has no idea what it is.  Radio refuses to support it.  Hardcore Freestyle fans don't want to see it evolve.  The list goes on and on.

The truth is... there is no music on Earth that makes me feel the way that Freestyle music does.  The second I hear a Freestyle beat, I go insane.  I want to jump out of my seat and dance around the room.  I'm immediately transported to a place I cannot describe.  I grew up on Freestyle and it will always be in my blood.

I remember going over to my neighbor's house when I was a kid and I would sit there playing all her records.  My favorite song then was Sweet Sensation's "Hooked On You".   It still is actually.  I would play her 12" single every day.  One day, she offered it to me.  I was ecstatic!   I would keep the record safe in my drawer under all my clothes.  That record was gold to me.

I also remember going to the mall with my mom and sister and she said we could both pick out a cassette single.  My sister picked out Taylor Dayne's "With Every Beat Of My Heart" and I picked up George Lamond's "Bad Of The Heart".  I would sit in my room for countless hours creating homemade edits with my little tape player.

I feel that I'm a fan of and inspired by many genres of music.  I listen to R&B, hip hop, gospel, dance, pop, electro, etc.  But... my heart is Freestyle and everything I do will have its roots in Freestyle.

I believe that there is still a future for Freestyle and that there are people out there who will embrace change in our genre.  I am nothing but optimistic.  I will always love our past, present, and future artists, producers, and fans.

Freestyle forever.
