Come dice il detto “ Dare a Cesare quel che è di Cesare” diamo, e
sottolineo diamo, merito onore e gloria ai romani In Cold Blood. Band,
che dopo essersi formata nel 2003 e vari cambiamenti di line-up
arrivano a pubblicare alla fine del 2007 questo promo di sei tracce,
ottimo sia dal punto di vista produttivo che dal punto di vista
compositivo, dove ogni song è suonata pregevolmente, dando prova di
essere una band matura e pronta per sbarcare sul duro mercato
discografico. Meritano davvero un buon contratto e l’interessamento di
una grossa casa discografica, che dia loro la giusta visibilità e
importanza per poter, come dicono loro, far arrivare la loro musica a
più orecchie possibili. Il loro stile è un thrash/death con mescolanze
hardcore che risulta all’ascolto dirompente, catturando con un ritmo
davvero incalzante. Interessante è la voce del vocalist e bassista
Fulvio, in ogni song portata all’estremo senza mai accusare cedimenti,
arrivando a performance a mio giudizio impressionanti. Rabbia pura
tramutata in musica, un album di metallo pesante che lascerà
sicuramente il segno.“ No Sun “ e “ Burn It Down ” le migliori a mio
parere, ma tutte e sei le tracce si fanno comunque apprezzare. Gli In
Cold Blood sono un gruppo che merita molta attenzione e considerazione.
In conclusione questo lavoro è grandioso, un promo cd davvero
convincente e coinvolgente, azzeccata e di sicuro interesse è anche la
copertina del promo, per tutti gli amanti di gruppi quali In Flames e
Slayer... Metallari di tutto il mondo ascoltatemi gli In Cold Blood
fanno per Voi non rimarrete certo delusi...

"In Cold Blood"
Nuova prova in studio per i romani In Cold Blood, ancora una volta
sulle nostre pagine con un demo di sei pezzi che oscilla costantemente
tra le sonorità tipiche espresse dalla corrente melodic-death
scandinava e suggestioni di matrice metal-core, di fatto esaltando i
tratti migliori tanto dell'una quanto dell'altra filosofia stilistica.
Manifesto perfettamente esemplificativo delle potenzialità del gruppo è
un brano quale "No Sun", riuscito mix di passaggi armonici, brutalità e
fraseggi chitarristici oltremodo azzeccati dal punto di vista
dell'impatto. Non da meno, tuttavia, episodi quali "Age Of Distruction"
(nel quale l'eco dei migliori In Flames si palesa in maniera a dir poco
dirompente) e "Under Concrete", un'altra bordata ad alto potenziale
esplosivo. Dal punto di vista tecnico e compositivo non si può certo
eccepire alcunché alla formazione capitolina; i cinque devono tuttavia
migliorare per quanto riguarda la ricerca di una maggiore originalità:
una volta risolto questo aspetto potremmo senza dubbio trovarci al
cospetto di una realtà votata per sua stessa natura alla conquista di
traguardi estremamente interessanti.

Il disco fin dai primi ascolti risulta molto ricco di spunti
interessantissimi e scorre molto bene alternando fasi melodiche a riff
energici e potenti con tempi di batteria tiratissimi. E' proprio questa
caratteristica che rende il promo un lavoro di ottima qualità.
Analizzando singolarmente le prime due canzoni, Hold My Own e Under
Concrete (forse le più energiche del cd), vinene subito messo in luce
questo aspetto vista la ricercatezza melodica, molto presente in tutte
le canzoni, unita a potenza e grinta da vendere con sfumature che
ricordano vagamente i Killswitch Engage. Nelle altre canzoni la
componente "adrenalinica" della composizione viene mantenuta
sicuramente a livelli altissimi, ma le sfaccettature melodiche fanno da
padrone, No Sun, Age Of Destruction e Burn It Down infatti mettono
molto in risalto le doti tecniche dei membri del gruppo che si
destreggiano perfettamente tra ritmiche fluide, stacchi
interessantissimi, giri di basso molto valorizzati, assoli che si
inseriscono perfettamente nel contesto musicale (cosa che è molto
difficile trovare tra i gruppi più noti del genere) e una grande
inventiva e originalità nel costruire finali che valorizzano ancora di
più i singoli pezzi. Veramente bellissima l'apertura di batteria sui
piatti nel chorus di Age Of Destruction. Con il pezzo Unblind Eyes
invece si ritorna ad pericolosi livelli di aggressività e chitarre e
batteria forse si esprimono al massimo con passaggi velocissimi ma
sempre ben definiti senza mai cadere nello scontato o esasperando tali
caratteristiche. Forse un po' forzato l'inserimento della parte
elettronica/effettistica sul finale.
Nel complesso risultano sicuramente un gruppo estremamente valido e lo
dimostrano le date in giro per il centro Italia e le numerose
apparizioni mediatiche della band di cui sicuramente ci aspettiamo
sentire parlare molto.

burbero anche se articolato e abbastanza tecnico, quindi lontano da
gente tipo Hatebreed e più vicino a nomi come Unearth et similia.
Questo debutto omonimo, accompagnato da un artwork discreto, si compone
di sei pezzi che uniscono con abilità riff melodici, abrasione vocale e
breakdown riuscitissimi, anche se fortunatamente la band non usa questi
ultimi come riempitivo in mancanza di idee (abitudine piuttosto comune
e abusata in ambito metalcore).
Molto buoni anche gli assoli, tra l'altro mai invasivi, e la
registrazione a cura di Stefano Morabito si conferma ottima come al
solito, e rende pezzi come "Under Concrete" e "Unblind Eyes" delle vere
e proprie cannonate. Una realtà solida del panorama *core italiano, che
speriamo possa riconfermare il proprio talento nei prossimi mesi.
Da tenere d'occhio.

pura attitudine hard-core e death melodico, influenze metal old style e
scratch. Un mix potente e vincente di questa band, che dopo cambi di
line-up e idee musicali, sembra aver trovato il giusto equilibrio,
proponendo un sound che riporta a band quali The Haunted e Unearth. Una
band tecnica che svaria dai riffing granitici e massicci di stampo
classico hc a soli puramente heavy metal, sezione ritmica martellante
ed efficace, aperture melodic death, il tutto sempre sorretto dallo
scream di Fulvio. Originale anche l’utilizzo di scrath, poco presente
in realtà, che consiglio di rivalutare e inserire piu spesso.
La produzione dei 16th cellar studio di Roma è discretamente buona e
contribuisce alla resa finale e a rendere i giusti meriti a questa
nuova realtà. Visti gli ampi margini di miglioramento di una base già
più che buona, ci aspettiamo di sentire parlare presto di questo
ragazzi e l’uscita di un album ufficiale, con la giusta produzione a
sostegno.

nome così e soprattutto un artwork pieno zeppo di teschi fanno venire
in mente altro... e invece... Metalcore! Ironia di sorta dovuta, con
tutte le bands del settore che continuano ad invadere il mercato è
quanto meno lecita. Stavolta però ci hanno risparmiato il solito
scempio di plastica, proprio per il semplice fatto che questo gruppo ci
va giù duro, dando maggiore spazio al settore estremo del Metal, con
pesanti dosi Hardcore. A primo impatto risultano ruvidi, ma con il
tempo dimostrano tutta la loro capacità nel saper scrivere brani
accattivanti che vanno dritti al sodo, Under Concrete e No Sun su
tutte. Merito va dato sicuramente anche ad una parsimoniosa cura dei
suoni, che bisogna ammettere è molto professionale e in linea con le
esigenze di mercato, strizza l'occhio agli Stati Uniti senza però
essere leccata e boriosa. Detto fra di noi il genere suonato dagli In
Cold Blood non è proprio il mio preferito, ma gli va riconosciuta una
voglia di mettersi in mostra non indifferente, che si materializza nel
vocione incazzato del singer. La strada è quella giusta, non resta che
cercare di farsi notare il più possibile, se sono rose fioriranno,
bella questa mi piace.

turntables just don't belong in metal — any kind of metal. No offense
to the dude (Giuseppe) spinning records on In Cold Blood's debut demo
(I'm sure he's good at what he does), but they just don't add anything
for me on this disc. What we have here on on the six tracks demo is
aggressive metalcore in the vein of Soilwork, Dead to Fall and As I Lay
Dying. Adding in turntables does nothing to help separate this Italian
group from the throng of bands in this genre.
My ranting aside, the music on this demo is actually pretty decent.
Thick, hardcore influenced breakdowns mix with melodic leads and hooks
to create an slightly more aggressive take on metalcore in general. The
rhythms are pretty damned heavy with catchy drum work. The vocals are
what one might expect in this genre — mid range growls and screams that
shift every now and again in to hardcore shouts.
Hold My OwnThe demo opens up with some industrial noise before a solid metalcore
riff starts in the background. Thundering bass and drum hits join in as
the group picks up the Swedish melodic death metal stick and starts
swinging it violently in the air. Thick bass lines back up impressive
leads and a catchy groove. There are several tempo changes that the
band uses effectively to keep things from getting stale.
Under Concrete"Under Concrete" starts off with melodic guitar work and quick feet on
the double bass. These dudes certainly are capable at destroying some
metalcore that's for sure. My only complaint for this excellent track
is the sampling and turntables — I'd like to bury them under a few feet
of concrete. Big riffs and heavy drums during the breakdowns are pretty
damned good, but their effectiveness is dampened by unnecessary
sampling. I'm digging the guitar work at the 2:20 mark and beyond as
vocalist Fulvio shouts in the background.
No SunMelodic riffing and layered vocals get "No Sun" started off to a nice
start. The beats laid down by the drums are easy enough to get into and
the guitar work at 1:25 mark is impressive.
Unblind EyesMuted bass work and drums start this off before groove oriented riffing
gets the pace moving along quickly. The melodic edge to this one is
balanced with the aggression in the drum work and vocals. There's an
interesting rock vibe to much of the guitar work outside of the massive
riffs found in the breakdown.
Burn It DownInteresting guitar work and drums start this one off to a different
beat. It's probably the most creative track on the demo as it shifts
from pummeling blasts to off tempo guitar work. Layered shouts are
plenty to give it some edge with beefy riffs during the chorus.
Age of Destruction"Age of Destruction" rounds out the demo chugging riffs and unrelenting
drums. The mix of crushing riffs and melodic lead just before the one
minute mark is a nice piece of song writing. The song ends with
creative drum work and extended guitar reverb.

I hate to pick on just one dude in the band, but I can't get pass the
sampling and turntables on this release. It's a good thing it's a demo
and can thusly be something the band works on and learns from. I'm sure
some folks by like the added element the sampling brings to the table,
but for me it kills this demo.

A lot are from a couple years ago now, so shan't be reviewed but as In
Cold Blood have just recorded and released this, it's good to go. This
Roman 5 piece consists of Fulvio on vocals and bass, Vito and Nicolo on
guitar, Niccolo on drums and Giuseppe on the turntables. Now if like me
you're wondering what that last bit's about, don't stress, his presence
nowhere near as felt as Jam-Master Jay, but you can occasionally hear
some scratching that actually sounds a bit like plectrums being run
down guitar strings, albeit doing some other strange stuff too.
Regardless, Fulvio's vocals are nothing like Run or DMC's, but more of
a shouted hardcore variety. The guitars shred and keep pace with the
more often than not frantic pace of the drums. The bass is clearly
audible on the opening track "Hold My Own", as is the animosity with
which everything else shall be delivered from here on in. Even the
leads have an angry tinge to them. The second track of this six track
EP is "Under Concrete" where the guitars are playing intricate riff
exchanges blending into each other and then back into two distinct
rhythms again. "No Sun" opens with a hefty lead and while the drums are
manic, the guitar rhythm is slightly slower giving it a far more
melodic feel, which the vocals play on. A jangly guitar gives way to a
heavily distorted one for "Unblind Eyes" but keeps cropping up
throughout to mess with your head a little. Some kewl staccato drum
work kicks off "Burn It Down", but that settles down into a more
predictable thrash groove with some choppy rhythms and a really
impressive lead. "Age of Destruction" has a vocal melody that sounds
anthemic and if it wasn't for the gruff vocals would probably be
something you could see taking place at an arena venue with lighters
held aloft. But thankfully it's just the melody and the aggression
remains, even if there are plenty of weird sounds coming from the
turntables happening in the background.

neu. Die Songs sind noch etwas unstrukturiert und sind vom Sound zwar
etwas schwach, haben jedoch einen gewissen Charme!Typischer Metalcore,
jedoch ohne den allgegenwärtigen cleanen Gesangparts! Die MCD macht
soweit einen passablen Eindruck und kann streckenweise auch einiges
gutes aufbieten, allerdings fehlt dort noch etwas um wirklich aus der
breiten Masse herausstechen zu können. Ideen sind vorhanden aber noch
nicht ausgiebig erforscht und ausgearbeitet. Insgesamt ein recht guter
Einstieg, der aber noch einiges besser geht!

Vy to neradi čítate, my to niekedy neradi píšeme. O čom je reč? No o
recenziách na demá neznámych kapiel. Niekedy je takéto niečo písať skôr
trestom ako potešením z hudby. Toto demo som dostal do ruky na
tohtoročnom Brutal Assaulte a keďže sa chalani asi snažili, rozhodol
som sa, že im nejakú tu časť textu na Metaliriu venujem.
Na úvod by som túto neznámu kapelku predstavil. Štýlom sa zaraďujú do
metalcoreu a pochádzajú z večného mesta, teda z talianskeho Ríma.
Takmer celé toto demo si môžete vypočuť dokonca na ich myspace stránke.
Budem rád, keď si vypočujem aj vaše hudobné názory, v našom
Metalboarde. Pre toto cdčko a pre nedostatok času spravím výnimku a
ohodnotím ho na prvý posluch. Po začiatočnom malom intre, ktoré
dostatočne v predstihu navodzuje hlavný motív prvej skladby, začnú
Taliani všetko pekne odsýpať. Prvý dojem - kurva mne sa to páči. Má to
zdravú dávku agresivity, dobrý, vyvážený zvuk, výborné akordy, cítiť v
nich nápad a nie len také pohmkávanie vo vzduchu. No na prvýkrát som
naozaj prvotriedne prekvapený. Toto je demo? No naozaj dobré demo, o
takýchto demách by človek mal radosť písať stále. Prelínanie
melodických metalových akordov v podobe deštruktívnych sól a
hardcoreového rozvratu Fulviovho bľakotu, to je to, čo ma najviac
fascinuje na tomto deme. Zaujímavou je aj postava štvrtého hráča
vystupujúceho pod prezývkou Banana, ktorý sa stará o efekty a platňové
točne, teda akoby nejaký DJ v kapele. Človek by sa pri prvom pohľade na
popis práce tohto týpka bál nejakého mixu techna a metalu, ale keď sú
tie efekty počuť, naozaj vhodne dopĺňajú výsledný fíling skladieb. Aby
som sa nezaoberal len pozitívami, musím trošku skritizovať niekedy dosť
falošné začiatky skladieb, ako v tretej skladbe No Sun. Potom sa však
In Cold Blood odvalia a sú nezastaviteľní. Ich vzory ako Fear Factory,
In Flames, Haunted a iní musia byť hrdí, že majú takýchto nasledovníkov.
Napriek pálenému cdčku a neprívetivému obalu tohto dema som rád, že som
ho nakoniec po dlhom váhaní vložil do svojej mechaniky. Po
skúsenostiach s rôznymi inými demami je táto placka viac než pozitívnym
zadosťučinením a motiváciou hľadať ďalšie nádejne spolky. Taliani to
rozbehli vo veľkom štýle a ukázali zvyšku „demových“ kapiel svoj holý a
isto chlpatý zadok. Takto by malo vyzerať kvalitné demo, ktoré určite
zaujme nejedno vydavateľstvo. A ja dúfam, že ešte asi dlhú cestu k ich
prvému albumu, sa im podarí naplniť a jedného dňa ich budeme môcť
vidieť aj naživo.
