What an experience!  In case you missed our performance with Video Games Live at Hard Rock Live here it is.  It was an amazing night, and we have to give a big THANK YOU to the VGL crew and Hard Rock crew for letting us play and working with us the whole day.  The experience was one we'll never forget!  Thanks everyone!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

+ THURSDAY, October 18 (that's right - THIS Thursday): Select Start is performing at the University of Florida Reitz Union Grand Ballroom as part of Talent Night . We'll be going up against 22 other acts for a spot to perform at UF's very own Gator Growl and open for Lynyrd Skynyrd. For those of you who don't know, Gator Growl is the homecoming event for the University of Florida, and boasts a crowd of over 50,000 people. Doors open at 6:45 and is totally free . However, bring your pennies! A bucket will be set outside of the Ballroom with the name of each act on it, and whichever act has the most pennies dropped inside at the end of the event gets extra points! All proceeds from the buckets are going to charity so no worries, your money is going to a good cause either way.

Hey everybody!

Select Start is hosting their first ever Video Game Music Video Contest.  We will be giving away some great prizes too!  Contest rules are as follows:

CONTEST GUIDELINES:
- One submission per person
- Submissions must include a name and email address
- Submissions will be reviewed by the members of Select Start on the basis of all-around awesomeness!
- Video must be submitted by July 31 via email or link (such as megaupload.com or yousendit.com are permitted) Just don't forget to send us the link!
- Results will be announced on the website and via email August 5.

VIDEO GUIDELINES:

- Video must be set to our MM3 song located on our website at www.selectstartband.com
- Video must be in .avi, .mpg, or .mov format
- Video material must pertain to Megaman media i.e. any of the games on any of the consoles, TV series, still photos, etc.
- Video must include ONE credit screen at the end of the video displaying your name and whatever else you'd like to add.
- Video must be approximately the same length as our MegaMan 3 track (since when we play the piece live, the timing won't necessarily be exact.)

PRIZES:

- The winning video will be featured as the background video for MegaMan 3 in future Select Start shows. It'll definitely be used in our next convention show!  The video will also be uploaded onto the Select Start website and myspace.
- one copy of the Select Start album
- one collectible poster
- one $20 giftcard to Gamestop
- one free convention admission at the next convention Select Start performs for (some restrictions apply...inquire within for details ^_^)

Small note: Select Start will reserve the right to use the winning video for all future shows, and for any other promotional purposes.

People have been asking us about MAGFest.  Unfortunately, we won't be going.  Mr. MAGFest had no place to put us.  Maybe next year.  We'd definitely love to play it.

We're working on shows in the meantime.  OtroniCon is coming up, and we'll probably be playing at a Borders bookstore in Jacksonville in the 13th of January.  It'll be posted once it's official.  After that, we're going to try for various cons and hopefully some shows in Gainesville.

Hey everybody,

I'm excited to announce that Select Start was featured in this issue of Hyphen Magazine.  Hyphen Magazine is an asian american magazine based in California, and they have amazing articles about what is going in the asian american world.  More information about them can be found at http://www.hyphenmagazine.com/.  The specific Select Start article is a full page article written by Amy Lam with an illustration by Jason Sho Green.  We really want to thank Amy and Hyphen magazine for their great work.  Make sure to pick up this great magazine and read all the great articles in there about the Asian American Music Scene.
